I would have thought Yamaha would have gone after MC because of '98-2001 and Kawi would have gone after RV. I realize both made a business decision, but I just thought the manufacturer's would have gone after guys that used their bikes...and yes I realize RV rode a YZ 85 and MC rode a Kawi in '90.
Suzuki = Robert, De Coster, Watanabe, Rahier, Everts, Barnett.
Still working on the other brands.
If you're gonna have Maico, then you better have Magoo on the list.
Yamaha: Hannah and Glover
Suzuki: DeCoster and Barnett
Honda: O'Mara and Bailey
Kawasaki: always Wardy
Husky: Chuck Sun and Micky Dymond
Maico: Magoo
KTM: Kinigardner
CZ: Falta
We just did not have enough exposure to the European riders to really identify them to a brand in the same way that I did with American riders. And really I was at the mercy of what MXA and Dirt Bike ran for stories and photos. If I think back to a Euro on a Yamaha I think of Mikkola or Carlqvist. Roger was enough of a presence in N America that I always identify Suzuki with him. Kawasaki.....Lackey kind of but Bad Brad was a total mercenary and jumped brands like Lechien jumped women. Of course Jobe and Billy Liles but that was much later. Honda in Europe, I really only remember Noyce, Malherbe and Thorpe, then later Eric Geboers.
Oakland...

I was there. It was AWESOME
There was a Journey before Steve.
Steve not being there is all on Steve.
I think he’s amazing. But, even he says he was “over it”. The dude seems pretty damn happy with his own gig these days.
Pit Row
KTM = Mossiev
Puch = Harry Everts
The others though. Crikey.
who else?
Bunch of bad dudes with dirt bikes, how the heck could it ever look wrong?
Other pieces can come and go but Journey will be Journey until Neil Schon leaves. He is the glue that holds that band together.
That is all.
