Cervellin disqualified, Guadagnini Champion!

Edited Date/Time 11/6/2019 3:16pm
After the last round of the italian championship, team manager Marco Madii claimed a disqualification of Michele Cervellin after his move on Mattia Guadagnini at the start of the race (see the picture below). Italian federation finally made it's decision, and they decided to disqualified Michele Cervellin and crowned Mattia Guadagnini new MX2 champ!

Looks like he screwed up Faroto's ( spelling? ) race as well. That Guadagnini will be a threat for sure in EMX 250 and the regular MX2 class when he moves up. Very fast kid!

On the bright side, at least his fuel was legal this time.

That's racing. #101 should have punted his ass and ran right over those pretty red numberplates.

No, that’s not racing at all, that’s straight chicken shit like said above.

Racing isn’t chop blocking your opponent right off the start. Make the pass with a block pass, sure. But turning straight into him off the start is bullshit

Maybe Cervellin had watched the start of one of the 2007 MXDN Motos, and was inspired? Antonio Cairoli in a McFarlane and RV sandwich. McFarlane, ended up in hospital with a broken back, if I remember correctly. RV certainly 'pulled' quite a way to his right on his way to a 1:1 :

The 4th and 5th pictures in this sequence (and I think there are a few more than that, but I can't find them past these 3) are doozies. RV still bearing right, and carnage ensuing. He was very lucky he didn't get caught up in it, himself .

Well, I'm not going to sit here and defend Villo's move either

RV's move is nothing like Cervellin's. McFarlane looks to be cutting left pretty hard as well.

Not to mention Cervellin is inexcusable by other "racing" motivation. RV looks to be bulldogging for the same general first corner line as most of the field. Cervellin's hard cut, by contrast, could only lead him off track.

Hang on, everyone calling Cervellin out, maybe his bike went sideways off the start or he lost his balance & went into the the other riders?

You guys protesting the starting technique for Cervellin obviously have never raced a local 250 Novice race. To me it looks like his bars got tangled with #101 after a little move over. I didn't see video, so I can't be sure, but Cervellin is ahead, which gives him the right to choose whatever line he wants. Whether that's 100 feet, 10 feet, or one inch out of the starting gate.
The PROFESSIONALS on the receiving end of that takeout should have been prepared for it.

Cairoli started that deal by turning left into RV. The pictures you are showing are the aftermath.

Does anyone have video? A picture is great but a video would be much better.

I’m with Falcon on this one. It’s hard to believe someone would intentionally do such a move. How many times have we seen a racer make contact during a pass while being briefly out of control?...think Copper Webb on Tomac or Marvin Musquin on Tomac....How about The Jammer jamming it in on Tony D I think it was....this is fucking MOTOCROSS, not tiddlywinks or sarcastaball!!!

Ya, after watching the video I think it’s chicken shit to disqualify him for that....

I think it looked much worse than it really was seeing how the two guys on the inside had to shoot left to get to the first turn. Unpopular opinion I’m sure, but the video wasn’t nearly as bad as the pictures make you think.

Nothing wrong with the “Fro Fade” off of the start.

There was an espresso truck on the side of the start. He just wanted to stop off for a little pick-me-up!

Seriously though, I've never seen three front wheels taking up such little real estate.

If you go back and watch Ironman 2018, Marv does a very similar thing to Tomac off the start, albeit with a lot less contact, he still cut him off pretty bad. Marvin said this was his plan if he was able to get the jump, and Tomac said he expected it completely.

This move is done quite a bit, usually with less contact but it is done fairly often.

You guys need to learn what "taking the line away" on the start is and "blatantly cutting someone off". That's a chicken shit move based on the photo. Did any of them go down?

Forato and Guadagnini both went down. Forato went into the wood fencing head first. Dangerous stuff.

I hate it when a Championship is reversed like this.

It's bullshit.

Penalize the guy next year, he sits the first 2 rounds out, whatever.

Some guys sitting behind the fence, making a call,
that changes history.

one can wonder, if they have lined up to run, ever, even once, in their life.

"You should have done this, you could have done that".

Bullshit.
