If James, while at JGR had 3 successful years and won one major title. What would JGR look like today?

I think their mistake and no fault of their own is they had to develop those first generation YZ450's with the reverse cylinder. For instance if they would have been the support KTM team, I think we'd be having a way different conversation right now.

I agree. Ever since that wack ass 2010 Yamaha, they have been on the ropes.

Maybe they have a different out come if yamaha didn't start a factory effort again just to snag Cooper Web which was JGRs shinning light. Maybe hurt them more since coop didn't jive with the yamaha anyway or bike aside I don't think coop was ready for the 450 class regardless of bike.

What do they do next? Get support from a brand that has the oldest platform and seriously just has it toe in the water of racing after folding the factory Suzuki team. Yeah i get, Ken won on the bike. But they didn't have a Ken level guy on the bike.

Last SX season I don't believe they got one holeshot or lead one lap in a main. What do they have to offer to a sponsor now? I realize they are a badass team that has never met its potential, but its got to be tough to have no rider or results to title sponsor and vise versa.

I would love to see them in more of a MCR/Honda role as a team. If that was the case then you would hope Kawasaki, Yamaha, (or lesser KTM and Husky because they have lots of riders) would give them a chance to field 2-3 bikes and they could hire the vets, the guys that need a second chance etc... but with lower expectations. On second thought, that kinda sounds like what they already are.

Yeah but when JGR started who would have wanted to be part of a KTM supported team? The 450 was just not Supercross capable until DeCoster and Dungey developed the 2015 model.

All I know is that in Weigandt's video from yesterday, the bench at JGR had a shit ton of motors on it. Like a team that was getting ready for 2020.

Dungey won 4 races in 2012 aboard a KTM which seems to indicate that the bike was Supercross capable at that point.

Yeah you don’t prep 30 motors if you aren’t racing in 2020

I’m surprised JGR didn’t partially evolve into a hop-up shop offering engine and suspension mods, and performance parts like Pro Circuit does. I believe the industry needs another quality mod shop based on performance experience of their race team....
