He's our guest this Friday, October 25th, for a LIVE edition of The Whiskey Throttle Show at Troy Lee Designs in Corona. Aaron is a character, so this should be fun. $20 gets you in AND free beer and pizza. All proceeds go to Road 2 Recovery to help Micky Dymond in his recovery.

We are giving away a set of Method Race Wheels and other moto swag!

TLD Pre-Mix Party starts at 5:00, show starts at 7:00pm... hope to see you there!

Very curious to hear what Aaron says. I still have a lot of faith in that kid , even though this 450 rookie year has been rough. I still think , that once he figures them out , or maybe hops on a different brand , he has the potential to be a beast! He's built for a 450 , and as soon as he figures that out.....he'll do some damage!

It’s hard to find a flaw in that kid. He’s pure Moto born and bred. I really hope he heals up right and starts giving his peers a hard time.

That was a bad injury that may not be 100% He doesn’t look comfortable.

He was looking like the next big thing.

Hopefully he's honest about the struggles on the Yamaha 450. If he was on a different bike, I think his 450 career would be a lot different.

I never understood the “built for 450” thing. Were RC, RV, RD, JS, CR, CW, JA, ET and any other 450 champs not “built for 450s?” I feel like all the recent champs (on 450s) were between 5’5” and 5’10” other than maybe Anderson. I think he’s pretty handy to 6 foot. So why do people think height automatically equates to more success on a 450?

Aaron is DA BOMB! Horrendous rookie year/ complicated injury/just married/new dad.....lots of big challenges for any young man. He'll get it sorted and be a top 5/title contender. May take awhile, but that guy can RIDE, and we damn sure haven't seen the last of him podium-wise. Can't make it down, but if I was within an hour's drive I'd be there....Keep grinding AP! There's a whole messa podiums in your future!

On a similar but different point, i wonder if bigger guys struggle to transition to 450’s as they can’t muscle the bike as much and need to change style more.

I think people were saying he would be good on a 450 due to his smooth style and his ability to lug the bike instead of rev not his size.

Is it really necessary to take shots at PulpMX, Ping? Pretty disgusting opening to the last episode I listened to.

Maybe a few say that. But there are countless threads out there where most people mention his stature/size when saying he’s more suited for a 450. I love Aaron and find myself rooting for him due to his GNCC roots and awesome personality, but I’ve never viewed him as being the next big thing on 450s. When you look at every single one of those guys listed they all share one very distinct feature and it has nothing to do with physical appearance.

I guess in theory you would think a 450 may suit him more than a 250 just because of his size and he may have swamped the 250 abit but as said it may not always work that way. Erik Geboers was a beast on a 500(as well as all bike sizes!) and also Carioli isn't exactly big either and flies. As well as the other names already mentioned. Little Prado also went pretty darn good also at the Nations on the big bore.
Its funny how many smaller riders are so good on the big 'uns! Not maybe what you would expect. Just shows how good they are I guess.

Best of luck to Aaron for 2020 and this fundraiser sounds a super thing for Mickey and a really positive thing.Smile

For bigger guys, I think it is more about nullifying the disadvantage they had previously on 250s, and where, despite that, they already succeeded.

Those 250s have more than enough power to carry around a guy who weighs probably 155-160 pounds at most. We aren’t talking about a 250+ pound guy here. Aaron is still in great shape and doesn’t weigh a lot.

Im not trying to make it sound like those who say those things are dumb. But they clearly don’t think things all the way through. Aaron had absolutely no disadvantage on that 250. Most of those former/current champs previously listed weigh somewhere in the ball park of 150-160 pounds as well.

I think Aaron is like 6'-2" and a 180lbs. ( I think that's what I remembered reading? ). That was the basis for what I was saying about " being built for a 450 ". He made the 250 work for him no doubt , I just figured with a bigger bike and more power , he wouldn't really have a bike holding him back a bit.

It may not have been as apparent as they’d have liked to see, but chatting with the riders and team before the Monster Energy Cup, they’re really happy where they’re at as they head into 2020.
