AC is a self admitted bad sand rider so why would we even want him to go? esp on a 250, he's too big the bike would struggle big time. need to send cooper i think.
Sexton should go IMO. Cooper struggles with set up as it is and ends up battling guys he should be lapping. Send him to a foreign country to ride a track hes never ridden against guys hes unfamiliar with. Not a good choice. Not yet anyways.

Hope this doesn't become a trend with other teams. If we slowly just puss out of this race a lot of us are going to be really bummed out. Soooooooo, Wacko and some combination of Cooper, Webb, or Anderson? Webb can start and hold on to a so-so spot, Justin I worry about, and Anderson will ride his balls off no matter where he finishes. Not the best available team but really who ever gets to send a team of their best?

If its business for Kawasaki then as consumers we should "speak with our wallet".

Would you pay tens of thousands of dollars to go on a business trip? No? Then STFU

Id much rather have A Mart on the 250 than Justin Cooper. Just a gut feeling thing.

Anderson Webb and Osborne who says he will ride a 250. Doesn't matter to him.

You think Suzuki would foot the bill for that trip? They have no team in Europe to provide support.

Osborne, Anderson and Mosiman would be such a sick team! Can you imagine how stoked Husky would be on the PR side of things?

AC called and said:

“I will be spinning millions of laps on my new 450! Instead of going to a free mx exhibition!”

I'm sure AC is not pissed at Kawi, the check they just wrote him probably insures that.

I wouldn't be shocked if Eli and AC both didn't want to go and Kawi offered to take the bullet for them.

AC is getting a later start on his 450 career than I'm sure he wanted and I doubt he touches another 250 after Ironman.

They had sponsors back then, and a manufacturer with both money and teams to help with support in Europe

This was a dumb move by Kawasaki. I'm sure they have some sort of reasoning behind it, but from a marketing perspective it's not smart to shy away from an international opportunity. Their riders and bikes will now miss out on MILLIONS of potential impressions and opportunities to sell Kawasakis.

If I were Adam, I'd buy a KX250 and ask Mitch to build it for me. Then I'd ask Roger if I could hop on a plane to race. (That is, if the reason he's not racing is because Kawasaki declined to provide him with a machine. If they actively forbade him from riding, that's a whole other level of suck.)

This is the best team for sure if Eli is not going. Roger can make it happen. Keep it all in the family KTM/Husky. They could win.

To close a multi million dollar deal and sell a bunch of product? Yes, it happens all the time... Meaning Kawi should foot the bill.

My take: Neither AC or Eli want to go to MXoN this year and Kawasaki is perfectly OK with taking the fall. They see how much heat Eli has taken in 2016 and 2017, and they are just putting the "we don't support our riders going" shield out there to protect the riders. I'd be willing to bet Sternstrom has had conversations with both Tomac and Cianciarulo on how to play this out.
Yes. Kawi is 'taking the hit' for them not wanting to go. Makes sense for all parties.

I'm betting Kawi isn't too thrilled AC got on a podcast and threw them under the bus. I'd imagine this could impact sales a little on the mx bike side. Us American's are very passionate about the MXoN and a brand flat telling one our best riders "we won't support you" can't look to good.

Staying on a Kawi would be the biggest mistake of his career. Wink Tongue

The issue was not about Kawi footing the bill. It was about AC paying out of his own pocket to race MXdN, which is a ridiculous idea

Dungey didnt need the time to adapt to his new bike back in 09/10

250>450mxdn win>450sx champ>450mx champ.

He still got hate a couple of years after though. People are quick to forget.

Most of this sounds perfectly reasonable.

If adam is going 450, he will be required to ride monster cup like savatgy did. Which means he cant waste the 5 weeks riding a 250 outdoors when he should be testing the 450 on a sx track. Kawi needs adam to slide up into elis spot in a year or two, and being prepared for a1 helps that.

Lets not think kawi is saying no because theyre dicks. Theres a reason for everything.
nah, it's definitely cuz they're dicks

I get it... I was putting the whole thing back on Kawi's shoulders.

Their attitude towards MXON is a major disappointment...

This year’s MXoN hasn’t looked that great for us ever since it was announced. Bummed AC can’t/isn’t going but I’m not even surprised anymore.

When was the last time we even sent our top 3 riders to the MXoN as a team? Whether it’s the rider not wanting to go or the team not allowing the rider to go, America has given up on the MXoN in favor of Supercross. It’s sad but true. Last year at Red Bud we had close to our best team: that year’s 250 and 450 champ and then a mid pack guy that was willing to go. And Kawi decides that is the time and place to test out a brand new, unproven motorcycle to get ready for SX... Just, why?

I still think we can win on the right weekend, even with a “B team”, and will always cheer on and support the guys that represent us. But the fact that we are stuck sending mid-pack riders to represent what American MX has to offer makes it hard to stomach at times.

N-Fab, a team sponsor, stepped up big time to help
Monster, a personal sponsor of Barcia's, helped
The entire team USA was on Yamahas with full Yamaha support
Team USA pitted out of the Kemea Yamaha rig for the weekend, a big help

None of those things apply to JGR now. Albrecht has a budget for the year and it is tight with no title sponsor. MXdN is not in that budget. They would need money and support and it's not coming out of Coy's pocket.
