Nothing they say makes sense. "We believe that this was absolutely accidental, and such a trace amount that would have yielded no performance increase, so we settled on banning you for 2 years." Wtf? Does he have to repay all his purse money now?

yeah why say all that and give a 2 year ban....unbelievable, good grounds for an appeal thats for sure
Im a huge Craig fan and so annoyed this is the outcome!
But I don't understand how riders can get done with the substances in there system!
How can people like Reed be racing for so long and yet never have this issue?
Given what the other guys have gotten i think he got very lucky. 2 years back dated even though he continued to race in that period, and as recently as 2 days ago.
Still ridiculous that a trace amount of a product that wasn't taken intentionally and doesnt give a performance advantage can put someone on the sidelines for that long.
At this point dudes need to be only ingesting Whole Foods... period. anything that is processes or comes in a tub or bottle should be thrown out.
That being said I think all of this is unnecessary... it’s a professional sport not the Olympics these penalties need to be adjusted to be relevant for the sport they are meant to protect the fair playing field for. I would say time served is more than adequate in this scenario.

At this point, they need to grow their own food. Otherwise, they run the risk of getting something tainted.
A 10.5 month delay before notifying him is ridiculous. I get that if you break the rules there are consequences, but these consequences are being handed out by a kangaroo court.
Fucking A. a little PED detected from a contaminated source but guys can race stoned cause they do not test for THC. AMA needs to get rid of WADA and have their own testing like every other real sport in the USA.
all useless pricks, 2 years for a trace amount, the AMA, MX Sports should grow a spine and tell the FIM to shorten the suspensions to something more reasonable.

What he got popped for isn’t in any food. It’s in asthma medications, which a lot of the 250 riders are on and have prescriptions for. And yes there is a significant advantage when using it not just for moto. Guys at a local mountain bike and road bike world have been using it for a long time.
He was filling in for HRC on a 450 when he got popped. Probably either thought it was out of his system or wouldn’t get pulled for testing since he was filling in.
Fuck the FIM
Fuck WADA

Fuck the guys that signed this drug testing contract for SX is what you should be saying. They would of known the penalties and how they operate before signing them up.
I want drug testing in motocross. I want swift, decisive punishments based on factual evidence, which the accused may cross-reference. (In other words, I want proof that the positive sample is my own blood if I'm a rider.) And I want specific penalties which are levied in the same way for every rider found guilty of cheating. These penalties should be handed down no later than 30 days after the test in question (and even that is an exorbitant, lazy amount of time.)
All this, "oh well, we'll let you know when we let you know" bullcrap has to stop.
At this point as a tested athlete you have to keep a sample of every substance you put in your body, from liquids, food, powders etc. and hope you don’t get within inhaling distance of someone that’s smoking weed.
At the minimum you have to collect samples of the supplements you take, put a tablespoon into a baggie and write a date on it plus the UPC/batch number. That’s the only defense that you have if the sample has a trace amount in it you have recourse. But if it doesn’t, then you are in the same position of trying to prove your innocence/ignorance of how it got in your system, and there is no winning with that defense.
Awesome.....they are catching cheaters left and right! So glad they exist, can you imagine the damage that these athletes would have done to themselves if they stayed in this downward spiral of abusing performance enhancing drugs?
There are so many tainted supplements and even pharmaceuticals out there. Knew someone that got kicked out of his pain doctor because one of his pills had trace amounts of a different opiate in it and they kicked him out. He sent the pill from the bottle he had left and sent to a lab And they confirmed it had trace negligible amounts of the other opiate and noted in lab report it’s not uncommon.

I get the lack of tolerance but why tolerate the delay and fumbling of the case? who holds the FIM accountable ?

Then fuck the riders for getting caught.

The riders should boycott a race and simply refuse to ride.... They need to band together as the series managers are not doing squat. Sad...
