You should probably stay home. If you go it's going to lightning from 1-7. If you stay home it will be nice. Take one for the team and stay home so it's nice for everyone else!

Yes. Its lightning right now Im listening to it as I type. Its also fucking POURING rain. Its 7:15am. The weather says from 1pm-7pm it will be like this right now, lightning, and it says very severe storm weather 3 inches of rain by 3pm. Its severe right now so I can imagine.

So if nobody will put out any type of information about whats going on I guess its up to us to decide. It IS GOING TO lightning for basically the entire race schedule so I guess that means dont go. I dont care about rain at all, but they cancel racing due to lightning, as they already did this year, and I dont wanna drive there for nothin. Dont care about rain, do care about no racing due to lightning that is going to be occurring and is already been occurring for a couple hours.

1978 Rhode Island’s only national mx. Rain everywhere in the tiny state except guess where. The area of the track. Very low attendance. Guess what. Never had another national.

Don’t always go by the forecast but if it rains and attendance is low there will be another southwick! So stay home and go next year or roll the dice. It’s New England. I say go for it, watch the skies, and have an exit plan if thunder comes.

Can someone at the track please count after the lightening until you hear the thunder and report back how far away it is?

So you're saying the lightning is going to be biblical from 1 to 7? Asking for a friend.

Umm Im plenty calm bro... Im asking where do I find out information from promoters so I dont drive 2 hours there and get turned around and drive 2 hours back as I look out my window right now and its friggin POURING and lightning... right now at 7am.

Im in MA right now. Its thundering and lightning right now... Its friggin POURING rain... right now.. Thats very relevant. Asking about this weather Im LOOKING AT is not me needing to calm down. Then the weather says its going to thunder and lightning from 1-7pm. It also says at times it will be very severe and 3 inches of rain by 3pm. Thats on top of thunder. Thats when the race is. So... thats why Im asking. I should have known instead of ANY quality info of where to find out scheduling directly from the promoter Id just get a bunch of snarky comments, people sayin calm down when Im asking about the lightning Im hearing with my own ears and people sayin just drive alll the way there to find out.... I hate this place some times for real.
Soo is there still lightning From 1-7

*Update*

Lightning not arriving until 1:05, after that you can expect to see 1 to 3 strikes per hour until 7:07. We know this because New England weather is always guaranteed.

Has the lightning RSVP'd going on Facebook yet? Or is it still just interested?

Go to the fucking race man. If the forecast dictates you on the daily, you will never go anywhere or experience anything. Besides they have raced Southwick during a HURRICANE and the track held up just fine.

Now I️’ve heard the lightening has been cancelled due to thunder. Can anyone confirm?

Don’t know if this helps, but we would sometimes drill holes in the heavy metal parts, or use titanium bolts, to promote lightening.

There's a LOT of money that gets invested into these races. From the forecast the worst I could see happening is a delay but they will get some racing in to fulfill the championship and financial commitments .....

All I was asking is if there is somewhere that AMA or the track staff themselves can have a direct line of communication to fans in case of inclement weather. I was just asking a question, not telling anyone to do anything. I wasnt telling people its cancelled, not to go, that Im gonna stay home, that you should stay home, that rain is bad, that racing in rain is bad, so... anyways. Obviously as of now its on so hopefully the lightning holds off and there is no word about weather Ive found.

Rumor is there's a small flipper attachment for boots the riders will be using today for a little extra kick boost in the water crossings and all bikes will be running snorkels, except for Denny Stephenson in the 125 race. He and his dad say that you can't stop the water from coming in and you should actually open everything up so it has a way to drain, so they've removed the aibox altogether and are running open bore carb.

Man OP, I'm glad you stayed home. Weather looks great. I'd kill for low 80s temps. I bet the riders are just ecstatic to not be at WW.

Can't be good weather, we've been assured that there will positively be lightning during the 1pm-7pm time frame at that exact location......

Imagine how freaked out he'd be if Hannah was racing, 100% chance of a hurricane!
