there isn't one reason for me. Its a combination of results and personality. But personality can definitely make me not cheer for someone regardless of results.

No excuses fall under personality probably ? Giving props to guys that beat them rather than hearing about why they didn't win goes a long way for me.

I voted Personality...but...I also like guys like JA with a cool riding style.

I went with riding style. I’ve always been a fan of guys who are focused only on the race at hand, letting it all hang out for the win and fight to the last lap. The guys who settle because they’re focusing on the “big picture” have never really appealed to me.

I think before a lot of these results came in the obvious traits are riding style and personality. Those are realistically the only reasons to have a favorite rider or riders. Between the two I chose riding style. I think the way a guy handles himself on the track does all the talking required. A good personality helps, but as long as the rider isn't a massive d bag, I'll be a fan mostly because of riding style.

I like a rider as a competitor for different reasons than because he's my bro. In other words, I didnt care if rc was an ass or not, he was a pure moto maniac. For me to like a racer, he must work his effing tail off and kick ass on Sunday. Or Saturday? Dungey seems like a great guy off track, but if he didnt kill it on the track, who cares!?

I think of riding style more as how they look on the bike, but I can see your point. Riding style it is. Couldn't care less about the off track stuff that "fans" hate on these guys for.

if i would have thought of it, i would have added it when i made the poll but i didnt. so i would say that's the category it fits into best. When you think of riding style, its smooth like Windham, or crazy abilities like Stewart, or free flowing like Anderson, But the aggression of Barcia is still a style, or the guys that are considered the "nice guys" thats still a style, its not just how they look on the bike.

Simple formula for me: more skill, more personality and less douche. The more and less they have of those things the more I like them.

Impossible to tell
I like Hunter lawrence (personality), Freddy (underdog), Stew (riding style), Roczen (nationality) and more
The only thing I don't give a damn about is popularity and the brand of bike the rider is riding

Personality, riding style, and call me racist but the color of the bike does affect my opinion!

Underdog. Something very satisfying about a rider who gets overlooked by the majority and ends up winning. I like lots of riders for different reasons I guess but often find myself cheering on the underdog whether it's a single race, a series or even a whole career. Webb is a good example. Even Anderson the year prior was somewhat of an underdog to win. Both deserve those Championships regardless of riding style, personality, ect. Dungey was an underdog year after year. He ended up with several AMA championships and set a few AMA records as well. I like underdogs because they sometimes come out on top and it upsets the status quo.

No rhyme nor reason for me. l just tend to favor certain riders. I've never liked Eli. No logical reason, l just never have, never will. Big KR fan and l don't know why. Love Anderson, don't like Savatgy. Fuck if l know why.

Been following the sport since the early '70s and it's always been like this. I absolutely hated Hannah. Until he retired and now l love the guy. Was a huge Weinert fan, then he wore on me. The '80s was all about Jeff Ward and Lechien. Hated RJ and again once he retired l started to like him more in interviews. Absolutely love Jeremy and RC.

None of it makes sense, l know. I think l've hit my head too many times.

I tend root for anyone battling against anyone with the word COOPER in the name.

For me it’s skill and riding style, personality doesn’t really play a factor for me unless they seem like a douche.

Guys who have that ‘next level’. Doesn’t happen all of the time, but when it does I enjoy every second of it. I guess it all comes down to style, because some would say Dungey had that ‘next level’, but he was never exciting to watch sans 2013 Minneapolis.

But I like most every rider in the pro ranks. Even Justin Cooper, Justin Hill, Justin Barcia, etc., the guys who get a ton of hate. There are guys that I would rather not see win, but I can’t think of anyone I just dislike. I like to see the best guys race each other.

I tend to gravitate towards the more passionate, yet less sensible racers. Riders like Hannah, Magoo and Stewart who seemed to approach every race like it was their last. Checkers or wreckers. Others prefer more cerebral racers like Dungey who know how to manage a series and win more titles. The latter is more sensible, but as a fan I want to see beast mode fully engaged.

I like Cooper Webb because he has heart and I like Tomac because of his style and insane outside corner speed
