I agree the yamaha is good and he's on a good team, but the whole package that comes with a factory ktm ride has a track record of churning out world champions. I don't think that's there's a better package out there in mx2, look at what vialle has accomplished this year. 10th or so in emx, gets a factory ktm ride and is consistently a podium threat in his first year.

A regional title? A part of the arrogance of some European fans is that they get hung up on the term World Title as if the term inherently gives the series more value. It doesn't, and let's not forget that some of the best riders from GP's left the series in an attempt to get that "regional title"

this is a bummer.. and i think a big mistake...

Should have stayed on the 250 until he was 22-23... a 450 is a lot of power for a 150lb rider... he will have to get stronger so when something happens he can correct the bike...

If he went to the US it would be to avoid stepping up to the 450 at 19 y/o
So obviously he would race the 250SX which, in fact, is a regional title

Nice to see him moving up, there is nothing left to prove in MX2 other than padding his numbers. MXGP is stronger than when Herlings threatened to leave so I doubt GL would have changed the rules for him.

Obviously Olsen will be another title favorite but he has been there in 2nd and 3rd place for 3 years now. If Geerts makes more progress this season and in the off season I'd bet on him for the title rather than Olsen.
He would be a contender on any brand if Steve Ramon was his coach. You can see the Ramon style in his line choices, Steve was respected for his intelligence in finding the best lines no matter the tracks condition. Notice his alternative lines when watching him ride

as expected ,i think Prado is at the best possible place on this period of his career .
with deCarli and Tony as his mentor he is just were he needs to be at 19
him moving up makes the MXGP class even more exciting , hope he does really well
looking forward to see battles with Cairoli, Herlings ,Gajser and Prado ...
i think Prado has everything needed to become the next big star in MXGP in future , grazy speed , grazy starts and very minimal mistakes and his style makes it look so easy ..
so deCarli has a Cairoli jr Wink for the next 10 years to rack up some big numbers ...
lets see how he adapts on a 450 next season , first he has to get that second title but based on results thats more like saying keep it on 2 wheels as there seems to be nobody on his level these days ...

I bet he could shred on a 450 when he was 14. If you are a fat C class rider stick to a 250 but not if you are one of the best riders in the world.

Great that Prado stays in Europe. With Gajser, Herlings and Prado there is enough competition to keep the championship interesting the next 5 years.

Also, there is massive spanish sponsorship in motogp, i'm hoping that Prado can get motocross acces to these companies and get them involved in mx

FYI MXGP also gets hit with injuries. After 10 rounds here is the list of guys out injured in the big boy class:

Herlings, Cairoli, Desalle, Lieber, Lupino, Nagl, Bobryshev, Simpson and maybe some other guys I'm forgetting.

I´ve wondered about this for a while, when was the last time Red bull KTM actually picked someone up from the MX2 class in to their team? Is musquin the last one or do I miss someone? Herlings, Roczen, Jonass, Prado, all heavily KTM supported guys from before their transition to the MX2 division.

Gajsers MX2 championship has to sting for KTM Tongue . If you dont count that, KTM has won every mx2 championship since 2008, thats quite insane.

Roczen's maiden season in MX2 was on a Suzuki, I think 2010. In 2011 he was on the KTM and became worldchampion.

2009 was his debut season & if I remember correctly, that Suzuki kept on breaking down in 2010.

KTM has a damn impressive rate of juniors->world champions though.
Vialle having a really good rookie year too, I dont know how they do it, but whoever is scouting these talents for KTM should get a raise.
