"Win win" deal for both parts, I would say.

They didnt groom the track deep because there was the threat of bad weather on Saturday, which if you look at the pictures , was very real.. it was a mudder 2 years ago, they prepped for what they knew was coming , and in the hour between races they ripped what they could.

Great track IMO, technical and fast with loads of elevation changes.

Gave a great GP.

As for the injuries, it happens, riders are pushing for points , and it happens. Nobody 'settles' after 10 minutes and 'rides their own race' ..

Pretty solid ride from Herlings. I think Cairoli been pushing his limits last rounds against Gajser and barely survived mistakes but qualifying race crash did calm him down.. or was it Herlings coming back so strong?

Every MX track is dangerous and even more if you hit hole with too much speed. More speed faster stop more severe injury. They should have ripped more or make some parts slower with jump or stopper but watching TV that looks amazing.

Hope everyone heals fast. In emx250 Petrashin must be RV2 fan...

I hope it wasn't the bike cutting out at the wrong time?
Searle didn't ride because his bike has been cutting out and they couldn't find out why.
What is it with Kawasaki?

I’ve never liked the idea of not prepping the track properly because of forecasted rain. If it rains, it’s a shitshow anyway. Not critisising this race particulary, but I just roll my eyes in general whenever this excuse is brought up somewhere.

As for this track, I think it’s really cool. Looks like one of the more fun ones on the calendar. But this year it just seemed a bit off and really sketchy.

In this case BOS , but Kawasaki seem to be the least reliable remember the mxon.
I don't know if BOS do some other stuff to the bike which is making it breakdown so much or if they are standard bikes in which case you'd think Kawasaki would give them some tips on how to get their bikes to last 30plus minutes.
I'd like to think even a new standard bike could do a couple of motos with a pro on it?

If you rip a track a foot deep , and it rains, the track sucks the water in like a sponge, and its shit.. turns into and unrideable mess. foot deep ruts all the way round.. Happens here in the UK all the time ... pics posted on FB 'track is prime' and 3 laps into practice its a single line rutfest and a total waste of time. Leave it rolled and sealed , and the water doesnt soak in, so it it rains, its snotty on top and dry underneath, and if it keeps raining , you have a chance of getting some racing.

Its the sign of a good crew who know their ground. Sometimes leaving the track alone is the best solution.. some places the tractor drivers just get giddy and screw the job before a wheel is turned.

Looked like a back injury the way he laying, hopefully no long term damage. Strange place to get injured so bad, not particularly quick at that part of the track, looked like a coming together with another rider.

I like this track and I also think that :

- many people forgot how mx was during 50 years before the groom trend that started about 10 years ago, which created sometimes rutocross, both to absord more the crashes, but also to slow down racing by eating up horse powers, which may have been partly caused by the 4 stroke displacement rule as the 450 are a bit too much.

- the riders are not as used to ride this kind of tracks as they were, which may have been a factor this week end as we saw unfortunately some nasty crashes (and because that track has some sections that are bit too high speed probably, but nothing crazy either, all have fast sections and just the last 2 week ends pala and thunder valley also had some very fast sectors, and at thunder valley the2 fast parts are even more difficult because they are really rutty and bumpy). Basically it is a track that is prepared like in the past, little to no grooming, and water, which is how most tracks still look like in europe for practice after a bit of rain. And btw I even prefer sand (not deep one), i just like untouched/natural soils preferably with a bit of water.
100% agree . People giving out about the track , how many riders have got hurt in the long ruts on the straight s to slow it down . I loved the track today it was like every 90 s world championship track , big difference is it s a hell of a lot easier for riders riding today . They should love hard pack , they all have traction control. They are all on 4 stroke s .problem is they hardly ever ride it anymore. Put a 90 s rider on todays bike he couldn't believe how much traction he has. Yet every modern rider would be giving out about how slippy it is .

Two broken legs and a broken back in a single moto out of 25 riders (and Paulin was lucky to escape a major injury)....please name another single race that has had that type of carnage. Sure it was a 90's style track but with bikes that are away more capable of higher speeds than any 90's motorcycle...the track prep was godawful, dangerous and treacherous...I hope everyone heals up and MXGP has learned a lesson because losing that many top riders in one moto due to a shit track is way too costly.

I think it’s too fast. 61kph for Gajser in moto 2. Back before YS the FIM average limit was 50 kph. They raised it to 60 I believe.

I’m fine with hardback tracks but no reason for them to be so fast. The faster you go, the harder you fall. It adds nothing but risk.

Man that damn track was gnarly, some serious injuries going on today, Tim looked great but man Tonus has been really impressing the hell out of me lately, I think he got a tad bit impatient. Jeffrey did good for his first race back and Tony i think his back is really bothering him, just no push at all from him, I almost don't blame him with guy's dropping like flies around him.

I feel like this track could really bite Gajser if he overrides it.
and it didnt bite Tim, quite the opposite

I don't think there is anything wrong with the prep . I do argee the they could slow it down by changing the layout a bit .keep the speeds down. Also creating more lines with more corners with out side inside options. Is the track perfect ,not at all . But i dont think the prep was the problem. Theres been loads of time s there has been rider s break legs and worse the same race . In sand ,in mud in rutty tracks .

Very quick look , in 2015 in thunder valley Elli did his shoulder s and JG 33 did his knee same moto . This type of thing has happened sooooo often . it would be different if every rider crashed in the same section today or something

Ok....name one moto in the last 10yrs in MXGP....Prep was the problem it was very difficult to pass so it made riders take chances, couple that with the high speeds and rocklike surface...and the results are in the injuries suffered today

Nothing was wrong with the prep on that track. Hard packed tracks will bite you fast!

Update in english:

Hi everyone, I'm Federica, I write on behalf of Alessandro because he can't do it.
Following today's fall he suffered a fractured vertebra and sternum. Both fractures are composed.
At the neuroligic level, everything is ok, the problem is that the breaking of the sternum has caused a cardioacoid trauma that must be kept under control.
He will spend the night in intensive therapy and tomorrow the doctors will assess whether he will be stable to return to Italy.
I thank all those who are helping him not leaving him alone.

I'm normally one of the first to appeal for safe tracks but although that first moto was very shitty for injuries..
I can't remember the 250's havin too many casualties nor the second 450 moto..
