Stomach in my throat moment. Fuck that! I don't mean to come off like a puss here , but some of the shit these guy's pull are just plain stupid. Hitting something that big , few more inch's up , hits it......very unlikely he would have survived that fall. Having big balls is one thing , but there is a point where it just becomes stupid. Flame away I guess.....
I'm right there with you. I don't want to watch some dude hurt himself, let a lone kill himself. I don't even like watching Roczen"s crash(s). Often when I cheer for freestylers, it's not because of the incredible talent/skills they just demonstrated, but rather because I didn't witness someone destroying themselves.

That was hard to watch! Inches away from losing his life.

I don’t know much about Axell other than the occasional videos. If he were racing the Nationals what kind of results would he be getting? Is he a top 5 talent? 20th? Tongue hanging out by the end of the moto? Not bashing....just curious about his racing talent

He finished 2nd in B class behind Plessinger at Loretta’s, then broke his femur, then moved up to A and was around mid pack at Loretta’s the next year, then got hurt again. Pretty sure he raced some Arenacross to get his Supercross license but he hasn’t raced much since then, he never tried racing Supercross or Nationals to my knowledge.

His Focus shifted to free riding and making a living riding a motorcycle for fun rather than busting his ass to make top 20 peanuts.

I don't get the dislike for Axell. Dude is an awesome free rider, super talented, and nice.
The guy is a grade A douche. 2 years ago at Loretta's my kid was trying to talk to him. Axell was already talking to someone, so being polite, my kid stood behind and waited for them to finish their conversation. They finished, my kid stepped up, Axell looked him right in the race, turned around, and walked off. My kid won't even watch his videos after that.

I will never grasp why people in the industry/sport constantly shit on people who can make a living having fun a bike.

I envy them in a way.

I posted a valid reason, you choose to ignore it. Can't really help you grasp it anymore than that.
I had no issues with the kid until then, and I still give him credit for his skills on the bike.

Well, that was your experience per your word and if it's true then I am sorry that happened to you.

But in my experience at tracks, freeriders like Twitch and Axell have always been very approachable and polite. Just I've only experienced the exact opposite as you but I wasn't there with you that day so I can only speak on my actual experiences. So we can agree to disagree.

Just I'm pretty sure that you, as a human being, haven't always been a delightful peach on some days. And that's fine. It doesn't make you a bad or shitty person.

To each their own. Just I've personally experienced a lot better sense of humanity and demeanor among our sport in the last 5-6 years in this sport.

And yes, there are genuine toxic shitbags out there. And despite some of the shit I've seen people puke out on here, I don't ever experience that out riding.

Enjoy life, man. We only have one and I hope your experience didn't stop you or your grom from still enjoying this.

You misspelled land of well paying jobs, crazy good housing market, and a booming economy. How much do you pay for gas again? Or it doesn't matter in your Prius?

What's considered "Making a living" in Vital's standards? He comes from a rich family, free riding does not pay as much as you think it does. I bet the kids hauling in around $60-70k a year, which by all means is making a living, but jesus he's not a millionaire.

Steers and queers? Which one of those is attracting all the Californians to move here?
Dude, no one wants to move to Houston.

For the record on what I said......I think Axell is an extremely talented rider. He has skills on a bike most wish they had. I have no problem making some good money doing what he loves either ( free riding ).

That wasn't my point. My point was , that jump wasn't well thought out and if you have to duck your head to miss rafter's ......seems like it was pretty freakin' stupid ! Like I also said , having a huge set of brass one's is badass for sure , but there is a line when it crosses over into full blown stupid. It seems Axell was only a few feet ( maybe inches ) away from that. Almost everything I've seen Axell do , seemed pretty well thought out.....this one didn't.

Didn't this same exact thing happen a few years back at the exact same venue?

Some freestyle show.

I would guess he would have tried to Hang on to the beam , but yeah to close.
Find a tree with a beam sized branch at head hight, then ride you bike at 40 mph and try to hold onto said branch...

Years ago, I watched Tiger Lacey come pretty close to the ceiling at a race in Salem Oregon, over a long triple. At least it looked close from my vantage point. At the time, it got me to wondering if anyone had ever accidentally hit the ceiling.
Surely wouldn't end well.

He was just inventing the new "Air to Head Tuck" trick for more points from the judges.
