So I've posted numerous threads and pictures of our trail rides out here in the Wild Wild West and the endless Beauty of the harsh Sonoran Desert.

Well if you're thinking of moving out here you need to consider this factor.

A rider posted this on the Arizona dual sport page. Woohoo

I used to know a guy that worked out in Barstow. At his work they used to come across a lot of those. They'd spray them with liquid nitrogen, throw them up in the air and watch them shatter into a million pieces. Pretty crazy. I'm more of a live and let live guy.....just move on by them like two ships passing in the night when possible.

Exactly. And I guess we shouldn't ride in any state that has snakes, scorpions, bears, mountain lions, etc. It's just a snake that's not out to get anyone. They're just living their lives and all a rider or anyone has to do is just go around. People need to understand the risk of getting bitten increases by trying to kill them

That right there is a Nope Rope, or Danger Noodle if you will. No thanks! We have them right across the street from my house and plenty of them in our area. I let them be, but I’d be lying if I said they don’t scare the shit out of me. Cool from a distance or with thick glass between us, but out in the wild, NO THANKS!

This time of year we see them quite often,we just ride by and let them be.They just want a meal like anything wild without us interfering.

I grew up in Fountain Hills, AZ and yes there are snakes in the Desert along with scorpions and tarantulas that like to come in your house.I would Rather face that thing than the tornados and floods or snow everywhere else in this country.

They eat pack rats so they are my friend. I see them all the time at work and on the trail and never had a problem with them, just give them some space.

Copperhead baby struck my wife in the boot 2 days ago. I yelled "snake!" and she thought I was joking. Pushed her enough to have her rubber patch above the sole get hit so no penetration. The babies are the most dangerous they say.

Our labs get bit in the face yearly from moccasins in our pond. They look like the elephant man for a few hours and then the swelling goes down. They are fun to shoot as they are hard to hit. Using the shotgun is cheating so .22 or .223 only.
I would post some pictures but some may not like to see.

As an Eastern Canadian, there is a major benefit to killer winters, that thing.

Brown gear would be my Lit Kit.

Funny, I surveyed for years, been real close to bears, never really flinched. Stepped on a nest of little garder snakes and race prime Carl Lewis times down the line in jeans and work boots.

It F’ing FEAR! Moose r no joke either obviously.

Would love the riding though, saw the desert for the first time going to GCNP after the MEC.
Beautiful, loved the desert. Adventure bikes make sense there.

I like how they pissed it off for the picture. You almost have to go out of your way to get bit by a snake.

Living in AZ for over 22 years, I've seen easily over 200 rattle snakes (from hunting, hiking, camping, working, off road dirt bike riding, etc). Out of the +200 rattlers, I'd bet maybe a dozen of them were actually coiled up rattling (or less). They rarely rattle. They don't do that until you piss them off. Normally, they are super docile creatures. I either leave them alone or shoot them depending on the circumstances (.45 cal snake shot is my best friend).

Where can I get a cannister of liquid nitrogen for my truck?

Asking for a friend

I have property in south Texas and they are everywhere. In the late evening they come out of the bush hang out in the middle of the dirt roads to get more warmth.

I live in AZ and see that often on the trails. If I am on the 450 I just power up, put it on one wheel and go right over his ass. Done this many times. on the mountian bike I will stop and toss a couple boulders at them. I am live and let live kinda guy but after a big green rattler killed my dog I am out to even the score. Fuck ‘em

The green rattler is a Mojave and they have the strongest venom of all rattlers. Hematoxin and neurotoxin. Stay the hell away from them. Sorry for the loss of your dog. I’ll shoot more when I see them in memory of your dog.

Question-what the hell would you do if you accidentally got bit by a rattlesnake out on a trail be it mountain bike or dirt bike?
