You need a homie. If you get ko'd or something bad you won't be able to use the phone. Gotta be a dude who rides by ya. If not.... Get on tinder, tell the wife your just finding a riding partner. Two birds- one stone.

Thank you all so much for the wise ideas and comments . I really appreciate it . While riding alone isnt ideal it's about the only way I can get out and ride 80% of the time . This definitely has opened my mind as to the options I have . My main was concern was taking a spill and breaking my phone , or if I stuffed it in my boot which I have before it tends to want to work it's way out .

Thanks all

I often ride alone at a MX track in the forest, that is on the way home from my job. I always message my buddy (because he knows the location) and tell him, if he doesn't hear from me buy a curtain time, to come and get me. It's not the safest thing, but better than nothing.

I have a giant loop pouch on my bars (worth the $, way better in person than i expected from the photo online). Large phones may not fit but my iphone SE does with room the spare.

For my work cell (iphone 7) i keep it in my hydration pack (Klim Nac Pac) in the goggle pocket which has more of a hard structure around it. Don't generally need it but don't want to leave it in the truck to get stolen either.

On the work bench back at the shop, or in the truck. I have been known to go for a day or two and not look at my phone, just not important to me.

I lock them in the truck then just use the Ford keyless entry code.

I would suggest a SPOT or phone on the person. Caselli might be alive today if his SPOT would of been on him and not the bike.

Strap and secure a arm band to the upper fork tube behind the number plate and put a small phone (I use an iPhone5) inside it, so you can even track your riding.

The answer: It's called the flip belt. I picked mine up at REI, ideal for mtb or moto. It goes around your waist, has a small zipper pouch fit for a phone, slide it in glass side first, then spin it around to the backside. You'll never know it's even there!

You're welcome...

I have a pouch mounted on my chest protector for my glock, spot and cell phone. Easy access just in case.

Curious - why the pistol? Not judging genuinely curious.

I trail ride a lot since I’m surrounded by it. I’ve been riding alone for almost 20 years and I’ve tried to bring my phone a couple times, whether it be stuffed in a hydration pack or a back pack, and I’ve had some close calls that were partially caused by the damn pack it’s in so I’ve all but eliminated bringing it.

Moto is a different story. I went alone for my last time about 2 months ago - almost endo’d my brains out.

Who knows, maybe I’m just dumb, lucky, or both?

I ride a lot in the back country. Sometimes by myself. Typically the bears won't mess with you, the Mtn lions are unpredictable and the Wolf packs are down right scary to be around. They move around so much , you just never know where they are... and they are VERY smart...

I know a guy that cut out a little pocket in the foam of his Pro Taper pad (cross bar-less type). Dropped the phone in there and then put the velcro cover over it. Fit perfect.

This was a few years back and some of the newer, larger phones may not fit. He had an iPhone if i remember.

I keep mine in my Ogio hydration pack when riding offroad. There is a nice fleece-lined pocket pouch made for valuables and electronics. At the MX track i just keep the phone in my truck
That's what I did. Also made it into a lap timer. Just cut out the foam, cut out the bar-pad protector (glue a plastic cover over hole) and viola. Works great but people look at you funky sometimes when messing with it lol. Also, in the summer you need to take it out after riding or the sun will roast it and make the phone turn-off. That's an iPhone 6, but an iphone 7 or 8 would fit fine. The larger iPhones won't fit.

Mega bump from 2019 due to the weird private message system here, sorry folks 😂

@kNewc , assuming it was phone/GPS based, what app or whatnot were you using in that pic?

Grabbed a Garmin watch and Litpro app but it's a bit of a headache, I'm sure it's fine for most folks, I suck with  this phone type of technology.

I don’t trail ride much at all but phone goes in hydration pack when I do.  At the track phones stay is the drink holder on my chair it’s it’s not busy.  If there are a lot of people it goes in the truck and I stick keys under fender flair or wherever.  I’ve thought about getting a cheap pay by the drink phone and Velcro to my bar pad or cut a slit in the foam etc.  As much as a new iPhone max cost I’m not taking a chance by scraping it to my handlebars.

This. I always share my location with a friend that has a good idea where I go riding locally. And I tell my gf if I’m not back in 2 hours, to call him (she doesn’t have an iPhone, so I can’t share my location with her)

You could probably share it with her using the Google Maps app on each phone.

I use a Cardo pack talk mounted to my helmet, can make phone call with helmet on even while riding. Can also listen to music. I keep the phone in a tool pack wrapped around the front # plate with a couple of wrenches. Check to see if the clip will mount to your helmet, or if there’s a flat spot to glue it to. It wouldn’t fit into my 6D ATR-2, so I mounted it to my Bell MX-9 adventure helmet with the clip setup. IMG 7696 0.jpeg?VersionId=0VCZVgrQbxhR3fVqZxT

Like all the cool kid hard enduro types, I use a the small size USWE backpack.  The unique strapping system keeps the pack locked between the shoulder blades, and there's enough room for phone, wallet, a small rain jacket, energy bar,  water bladder, etc.  Like the original poster, I ride to the track, do a couple motos, come up short on a bunch of doubles, ride home, or ride to the woods and get lost - I mean, have fun - and this pack works great in all conditions.

We use a roo pouch when out for quick rides.  The phone side goes inside your pants and the the other goes over the belt line.  It uses powerful magnets to hold it in place.
