The Bills pipe that looks fully developed seems odd if these are one-off homebuilt conversions..

It’s the pipe they had for the prior RM-125.

I just watched the video of A-Ray riding supercross on the kit bike. Sounds really slow in stock trim compared to a YZ or the Austrian twins, IMO. Doesn't sound like there's anywhere in the powerband where the bike is gaining revs quickly.

I'd rate the looks of the bike at 11 out of ten though, it looks badass.

The frame rails are stock. The engine mounts have been relocated.

Lol, I never have the good fortune for adapted parts to just fit that perfectly!

Still hoping for a new small bore 2 stroke..

Its not. Just a regular pipe that they took a tig torch and run it around the pipe to give the cone pipe appearance

That turns A RMZ250 into a 125
Basically selling separately a 125 motor that bolts Right in.
That sounds super sweet to me.
Would that Be enough to make you choose to Buy a RMZ250 if you where planning to buy a 250f ?
I think it would me. Just knowing there is an option to go back and forth is really Rad.

Idk man. A lot of money just to get a 125. I really have no use for a 250f. So $6000 for a 250f plus the 125 kit which can't be less than $3000.. $9000 for a 125 in the new chassis and a 250f motor that does me no good? Naa. I'm okay. I'd rather buy a 2001-2006 RM125 and completely go through it and keep it in the original chassis.

And the 04+ rm125 was a really really good chassis. You could put a-kit on it, ported cylinder, lectron, and be in it for under 6-7k all in compared to the new kit bull shit where the chassis isnt even matched properly for the 125 engine.
2004 and up is the way to go with the RM125 motor. The 04 had a longer crank then the 01-03 and made that motor that much better. The 04 125 was my first big bike after racing 85s and I loved that thing. I had a 134cc kit in it with a weighted fly wheel, bills pipe and silencer, and a vortex ignition that had the switch to choice different mapping and man that bike was a rocket ship. I was also probably like 135 pounds with all my gear on lol man I miss that bike, brings back good memories.

Still looks bad ass IMO. I’d buy this pipe over their normal looking ones any day.

Heck yeah! Raw Faux Cone should be an option for FMF and Pro Circuit too

Interesting. That's awesome! Do you know if he built it or had it built or bought it that way?

I don't know if he had bad starts or crashes, but he got beat by a kid basically fresh off the couch that hasn't raced in quite a few years now.

Interview with Robbie Wageman on winning Open Pro

They talk about a lectron carb. If ktm is working on oil injection and fuel injection for two strokes, will they sell a stock bike with something like a lectron? I think jetting really turns people off from two strokes.

This is what I said when they debuted the new style chassis in spy photos and the magized test in Japan. The only reason they would change the front of the frame and rails to make it a center port exhaust was to be able to put a 2 stroke motor in it. Does not make sense to do that otherwise.

Talked to a few people ive had the pleasure of meeting over the years and they're saying it's not just for a 125 2 stroke but also the 250 two stroke. At least it has been heavily discussed. The idea for the 250 is to reproduce the last 250 motor in short runs with mods to fit this chassis and do the yamaha thing updates only if you have to.

I like the ideas no risk, tons of reward.
You're talking my language. I am still riding that RM250 motor! It's nice for fourth-gear sandberms. I love the RMs.

He said he was given the project...a chassis and a motor. Got a proper engineer to do the frame mods which he said were extensive, then properly strength tested ...the engineer was a friend who charges about $150 per hour and spent around 60 hours on it. But the owner did a big job for the engineer as a trade.
Owner did most everything else and he said it was no easy task...he scoffed at the idea of Suzuki supplying a kit to convert the 4 stroke...he can't see it as either doable or feasible.
He had to buy forks and wheels and a bunch of other stuff ,said he spent about $5 k. Says it handles sweet..

Well, PJ, I'm all for Contra deals - it's how I still get OS a few times a year for GPs etc. Hell, this old Engineer (Me) thinks he's winning Big on the contra scale of things - one day, my contra providers might just wake up to themselves. I hope not, I've a few productive years left in me, still, I hope.......Whistling

But, if this bloke with the 125AF did a Big job for The Engineer, well, The Engineer got a hell of a deal.

60hrs in the fitting of the engine....... there must have been a lot of Vitarding = a lot of Pizza, and Naps in that for said Engineers job time count.

There's no 'rocket science' to even the most complicated of 'AFings'.

But, so long as the RM-AF125 bloke is / was happy with the bike / deal, I guess it's all good.

As to all of this about kits etc. Maybe, but it doesn't seem to be a viable thing.

But, plenty have said how the latest RMZ250(?) has a high 'Y', almost as if it were made for a 2t exhaust, and, it looks like it has a fairly full / forward lower cradle - that I think would be needed to fit the (existing) RM250 engine in.

So, I think it's entirely logical to think it might be a way to make for production of 125 / 250 2ts, using the basic frame (and damned near every other part) of the RMZ.

It's not particularly hard for an average, mechanically minded bloke / blokette to do an AF, so at the production level it's almost nothing for a manufacturer to make the ancillaries, such as the airboot, exhaust, radiator inlets / outlets and engine mounts to make a frame take a few different engines. Most, have done so, for decades now. Hell, the manufacturer could easily, and not cost prohibitively, make cases (and a head with mount to suit) especially if the dies / tooling etc for existing cases of the old RMs are past their use by date.

And, then again, far, far cheaper than new cases, a set of different engine cradle rails is childs play to have sitting in the frame making facilities, to slot into the frame 'Y', and swingarm mount plates, if it were needed. to accommodate a (existing) 250 2t engine.

And, the dynamics / kinematics of a 250 f engine, a 250 2t and a 125 2t are far from being huge, for those that go on about a 250f frame being unsuitable for use for a 125 or 250 2t. If it were a real issue, does anyone think a CR500 / KX500 engine (or the new BRC500 kits) being put in a 250f (which is what the vast amount of AFs are based on, given the amount of twats that blow up 250f engines) or 2t chassis, or a KTM steel chassis would be any good? Some, are very good indeed - though some, are disasters.........Woohoo Evil

I think the last Japanese 125 to win the EMX125 series was an RM125. Though, it had a pretty 'special' engine (at least it's internals) bolted into the chassis by the then Sylvain Geboers MXGP team.

Any new 2ts are a good thing Cool - hell, tiny, Tiny companies such as Beta and Sherco have developed and made for sale completely new 2t engine bikes in the last few years, and are selling the hell out of them. Just as other bigger companies that have been doing, profiting from Japans almost complete cessation of 2t production. Though, I'm not holding my breathe on Suzuki doing 'new' 2ts. I hope my pessimism is entirely misplaced, and they Do bring out some 2 Strokes. The more, the merrier!

Agreed! Cone pipes themselves only really look cool when new. After they've been used and scotchbrited a couple of times they really don't look too good. At least a normal pipe you can scotchbrite and blue the welds easily to bring them back to life.

Well I dunno..was just regailing the conversation as best as i remembered it..didnt take notes..but the owner said that they made whole new sections of frame..wasnt just shifting mounts and making brackets..
My opinion ? Well if you buy a spare set of wheels for a jap 250 f, rim locks, sprocket, bolts, discs and bolts, you r looking at about $ 2 k... And people believe that Suzuki is gonna make a whole new 125 and 250 motor that will fit in the rmz 250 chassis, complete with exhaust system, carburetor, air boot, ignition system and wiring loom, for some kind of real world affordable price??? Extreeeeeeeemly far fetched...
Would they build and sell the RM 125 and 250 based on the existing RM 250 chassis..? Far more likely.
They would certainly sell better than their unpopular 4 strokes

As a fan of riding 250Fs and 125s, I think it would be cool to basically have two bikes but only need one chassis. This only doesn’t make sense if you don’t like riding a 250F.

I couldn’t agree more. If this actually becomes a thing I’ll guarantee that I’ll be buying one. Always been a Suzuki fan and that’s just flat out cool!!
