I feel like 8 out of 9 times the pass doesn’t happen. Not a knock to his ability to predict what is happening but it’s way more fun to watch someone react to something vs guessing what’s going to happen.

I suppose I’m just taking the long way to say that it’s more fun to listen to people call the race vs predict it. You never hear a baseball guy announcer saying “the hit is coming this pitch”.

SX is different than football, though. The strategy is basically written into the game with football, and it's far easier to predict a play if you understand the game well. Whereas with SX the strategy varies from rider to rider. Some riders are more cautious and think-y, others are more about pinning the throttle and praying the berm doesnt blow out on them. Also, they'll be considering the style of each guy they're racing so they can plan the best counter attack - or if it's worth attacking at all.

In other words, it's hard to predict how any given rider will react unless you're literally in the guy's head. Ricky makes his predictions based on how HE would react, but hey, we can't expect everyone out there to be the GOAT. Wink

I imagine most professional sports announcers weren't very good their first years announcing either. Ricky hasn't had much seat time behind the mic and it shows a bit but it could be much worse.

What does one have to do with the other? Riding a dirt bike does not naturally interpolate into solid broadcasting skills. RC's championships make for a fine racing resume, but they prepare him for color commentary about as well as prepping him for a C-level position.

He's a god on the bike, but a mere mortal behind the mic. Although I do welcome the incidents that force him off-script and into a red-headed diatribe.

Paul "Fatty" Vautin. Laughing He went on to be a pretty good commentator and host of The Footy Show.

Oh man RC needs to harden up a little. I'm a massive fan but man he definitely comes across as a person who needs his ego massaged on a regular basis.

He's a public figure so he has to realize that the Internet has given a voice to every dribbling moron with a keyboard, it's the age of outrage

He could shit a cure for cancer and people would still complain just to be assholes.

I do get tired of people bashing the fans of the sport everytime we critique or criticize like our opinions don’t matter because we are just stupid Vitards and we get looked down on and our opinions don’t matter and maybe they don’t but we fund the sport and are big fans of it and want to see it succeed.

We get belittled on here all the time from other members and People who run the board and now Ricky like we are just pieces of shit that don’t matter unless we offer praise only. Also most of us offer constructive criticism but I see your point though maybe it doesn’t affect him at all.
i see i'm the only one that just cringes when I see these types of replies from the "owners".

I would really like more Q and As with with guys who aren't complete dipshits like the rest of us.
Could all the assholes in the room be why that forum feature has disappeared? No one wants to do it maybe? Idk, just speculating.

You guys complaining about RC and Ralph should maybe focus your energy more toward the production crew.

How many of you noticed Eli drop out and saw Musquin's name plummet down the leaderboard without any mention of it, and thinking WTF how do they not see this? And doesn't this seem to happen more and more recently?

This is not the fault of RC or Ralph...

I'm always amazed when, sitting on my couch at the other end of the world, I clearly hear the roar of the crowd when something happens ontrack, see some guy going down ten places in the on screen rankings, and nobody notices, neither the TV producer nor Ricky and Ralph...
Real strange.
Probably because director is checking to see if they have video in the truck to show the replay before mentioning it. They are supposed to talk about what we are seeing on the screen.

Could you imagine the meltdown in here if Ricky started to excitedly talk about some drama on the track that wasn’t on the screen? This place would melt down way worse.

maybe take off the live scoring? that way it’s not obvious who or what is happening and it would buy them time to finish a sentence, que the replay video and talk about it without looking as if they missed it.

Do you guys really think that they are just blind and are missing stuff?

I think you are on the right track.

But I also think people here have crazy high expectations. It took a couple seconds to see Tomac, and less than a half lap to see a full replay of what happened to Musquin.

I honestly can’t think of anything that we have missed completely. When I hear the crowd, I do start looking at the leaderboard to see who and there always is a replay following pretty quick. It’s funny how people seem to think the broadcast should be able to read the future and have the right camera on the right rider

Note: Ralph said that Cooper Webb got the "hole shart". Hahaha

Ralph: Tonight I'm going to call it the "hole shart" hahaha

RC: Do it! I dare you.

Ralph: Think anyone will notice?

RC: I doubt it , they are too busy bitching about me.

Ralph: I'm going to do it, I'm going to be fired after the season is over anyways.

I mean what are fans to say to either one? Sorry? Haha. So did the fans miss the memo we are to give them a free pass in whatever they do in dirt bike racing or whole racing way past there prime? If CR22 doesn’t feel appreciated traveling to the races, quite. RC doesn’t feel his commentating work is appreciated, quite. But extremely thankful what they have done for the sport.

I don’t get the ragging on Ralf. He does an excellent job. He really is a professional he’s passionate about the sport and he could announce to True life long SX fans who have raced for years. But as he explained on Pulp mx that he has to dumb it down for the casual or newbie fan. Obviously he knows what color each bike is but he has to say yello Suzuki ect. RC is the goat but his grammar sucks and he could try to improve on that, he could also stop reminding everyone how great he was is ect. And no RC has many many millions in his checking account he’s not doing it for the money which I’m sure isn’t a big paycheck he seems to really still love the sport he dedicated his life to. He should improve. If he doesn’t try to and doesn’t get out in pits and go find out about the mid pack guys then I know Emig would love to have his old job back. But I will say it for Ricky to read I love that this dying sport is still onTV I’m grateful that I have a house and a tv to watch it on. I love this sport and I’d rather listen to Ricky butcher basic English grammar but hey the guy put aside his education to race and made it pay off. Meanwhile I’ll be busting my knuckles fixing people’s cars so I can keep paying my cable and internet bills so I can watch super cross and listen to Pulp MX it’s what keeps me half way sane Keep up the good work Ralf and Ricky. Peace out

I think Weigandt would be good. No to Daniel. He's the female Jennifer Aniston and constantly talking about himself. I can only stand 10 seconds of him per hour.

Sure as shit not wasting the time it'd take to read all this but RC and CR seem to forget that they have a say in this. Doesn't excuse people for being dickheads but if you can't stand the heat...
