This week's guest in the Vital MX forum QNA is Ricky Carmichael, and this is your chance to ask The GOAT your questions. With nine Loretta's titles, ten MX championships, and five Supercross championships, (as well as two perfect outdoor seasons), he knows what's up. In his post-MX career, he's also been a NASCAR racer, TV commentator, has started the RCU (RC University). He's also lent his name to the Road to Arenacross, the Ricky Carmichael Amateur Supercross at Daytona, and is a team owner along with Carey Hart on the RCH Soaring Eagle/Jimmy Johns/Suzuki Factory Racing squad.
Bring your best questions, and he'll be peeking in here this week to answer them. As always, keep it respectful, and ask questions that you would like in a face-to-face meeting.
1) Was it difficult for you to dethrone McGrath knowing that you seemed to look up to him as a racer?
2) Who was your favorite person to race against?
3) Truthfully, why do you think we went from being so dominant at the the MXDN to where we are at now?
4) Lastly, how did this moment feel? Thanks again RC!
Has owning a team proved to be the money pit it is always said to be? Also, how do you feel about tying on points in the outdoor nationals when two riders swap moto wins and second place finishes. I know the 2-1 guy gets first place on paper and a fatter bonus, but we know the most important thing is points, and when the points tie, to me, it makes calling one guy the "winner" sort of empty. I don't know if you have much of an opinion on that since you tended to just go 1-1. Thanks so much for any input Ricky, and also thanks for signing my number plate and a poster at St Louis SX in '05.
What was you most memorable race win and why?

What do you believe your 5 fastest outdoor MX motos are, and what are the 5 fastest (other than yourself) motos you've ever witnessed?
Thanks,
Chadder44
It's awesome that you are bringing RCU to Australia, is there a possibility of an Australian tour for RCU In the future?
Following the shock announcement that James Stewart has withdrawn from the Sydney supercross could you see yourself doing a guest appearance? I'm sure you still have to pace and I'm sure the Australian fans would love the opportunity to see you ride on our soil. Maybe an exhibition race with Reed?
I seem to remember hearing after the first year you beat Jeremy in Supercross (I was heart broken btw) that you didn't want to run the #1 the following year because you felt like it was Jeremy's number. Is there any truth to this or was it just a rumor? Why didn't you run the number 1?
My question is a little technical. All of the two strokes from the big 4 during the 2000s had very different frame designes, and my question is which frame type did you prefer? Did you like the steel perimeter frame of the Kawasaki, the aluminum perimeter frame of the Honda, the standard steel frame of the Suzuki, or the standard aluminum frame of the Yamaha(if you ever got a change to test this one)? I have ridden them all and they obviously have their strengths and weaknesses, but when it comes down to personal preference what did you prefer?
And talk about the pressure? did you ever not be able to sleep thinking of how to get faster? or have huge butterflies before races?
Ok something serious;
Guys IV in between motos, it's common knowledge. Percentage wise how many guys have done it/still do it?
Looking back, were your parents ever critical of any teams that you rode for? If so, how loud did they voice their concerns? Any specific times that you can remember? You can leave out the team involved if you like.
When I was about 12 years old and you were on Hondas, I went to a dealer signing where you were doing autographs. I had a bar pad that I wanted you to sign, but the guy overseeing the signing told me, "No!" You said, "It's cool," and signed the bar pad anyway. Made my year, seriously. Still have that bar pad too. Thanks for all the motos.
Thanks for taking some time to chat with us keyboard warriors! First time I ever saw you race in person was at Southwick and you were on a KX 125. When I saw you leap out of the alligator pit and blast down the old straightaway I almost crapped my pants at how fast you were going ! Congrats on being the GOAT
When the sport changed to 4 strokes, did you ever miss racing the two stroke during your career? Also, have you ever ridden an electric MX bike? They look pretty fun from what I have seen!
Pit Row
Did you have a "discussion" with JS7 when he jumped onto your back?
-Team Owner
-Color analyst for sx
-RCU mx schools
-Still represented by multiple mx related brands such as Fox and Monster.
Are you working harder now then when you raced? Or just a different kind of hard?
Second, REAL QUESTION; Why do you hate Steve Matthes so much? And what would it take for you to do his podcast? Hint: (He's open to it.)
My kid got your autograph at gopher dunes a few years ago, you were a class act.
My question is how did you feel after a loss or between moto's if someone managed to beat you? I got the impression that you hated losing so bad that you came back stronger every time. That was one of my favourite things about you how mentally you seemed to try and keep everyone down and never give them wins.
Thank you,
bd
Do you agree with the current 250/450 class? If not what should it be changed too? Do you think racing was better/more exciting with less injuries when the 125/250 class existed? Do you think 450's should go the way of 500's? Premier class changed to 350 or 400cc bikes?
Thank-You!
If you knew then what you know now, would you still do the look back passes?
Thanks,
RT
I think it's hilarious when you and Jeff start going back and forth on SX broadcasts. Do you guys ever take it too far and get pissed at each other?
