Stock models on all bikes (as far as I know) vent the crank case into the valve cover, maybe a factory Kawi is different. That bike smokes often, and only fails occasionally....

Hopefully they get it figured out. I was relieved to see he won after my DVR cut the recording half way through the main.

Interesting how ole Mike exits and they start having bike problems. Not sure what the circumstances are but If I was running that team I would be doing trying everything to get the dude back just for the peace of mind.

RV had none.
Joeys bike was fine.
Elis smoked from being hot. Abusing the clutch does that. Half his mechanicals were from him going down and breaking the bike. Relax.

So you are saying that Kawasaki's 450 production mx bike is sh!t because Kawasaki's 450 factory bike has issues (whatever issue), knowing already that it is not even close to a production bike. Seems legit.
Edit: This one is for those that were derailing the OP's point.

See if your DVR has a “live” setting. It allows you to extend the recording past the scheduled end of a program.

I set mine for an extra half hour and that seems to catch everything, even in the case of a red flag or two.

I wonder if Eli’s performances lately are partly due to not being confident in the reliability of the bike. With the level they’re riding at, and with so many mechanical issues happening in the past, that’s gotta be in the back of your mind somewhere.

No doubt, I'm sure he learned from all of them too.

Wait a minute, you went through a lot of trannies on the strip?

Bud Racing 250F's DNF rate in the last years was kind of worrying, but then again, those bikes don't share many parts with stock bikes.

As far as Eli's bike reliability, I don't think there's anything to be concerned about. After a solid performance at this year's mudder I think it's safe to say that bike is battle tested.

On the other hand, just imagine the outrage if Webb's KTM broke, tightening the title chase...

The stock 19 kx has had problems too. So far my 18 has been bulletproof.

So it was the engine? For a second there I was hoping Eli wasn't buying his suspension from vital members...lol.
I thought it was the shock, it looked like it was coming from lower on the bike and it only smoked when the shock was compressed. Is it possible he blew a seal and the fluids inside were splashing onto the exhaust when the shock compressed, causing it to steam? Not sure how it did it in the LCQ and Main, unless the team determined it wasn't race-threatening and decided not to fix it...

Lots of failures at MXDN, but they weren't the only ones. Also riding brand new models that didn't have proper durability testing for those conditions after building the race bikes, I'm sure. Track was deep, wet, and brutal.

That's kawie's new smoke screen function for when you pass your competition you can lay down a smoke screen.

The back end wasn't bouncing all over the place like the shock was losing oil so I doubt it was a problem with the shock

Breather hose / crank vent popped off the fitting on the cases? They blow some oil through that hose.

I may be seeing something different from you all but it seems that the bike is more likely to fail when it isn't smoking. At Red Bud and Nashville the bike quit with zero indication that is was going to. I don't recall Joey's bike smoking before expiring at Oakland but I may be wrong there. Also, I don't know if it's just in my head, but it seems that ET's bike is smoking nearly every weekend. Pulp said that his sources at Kawi believe it's the breather hose for the case (which would explain why the smoke is emitting from near the shock). It would be an OEM fix if that were the case in which case I would expect to see some changes to the cases for the 2020 model. Does not look good having a bike smoke that much in a season. . .
