To me watching him in 15’ on the Honda he had a finesse style that I think matched very well with his riding style. The Kawi is more a bike you manhandle and throw the back end around those turns and ride aggressive. The Honda looked like it was more about riding with precision that was rewarded. Both styles work for him as hes very strong and very technical, but on the Honda he was also putting 1:15 gaps on Ryan Dungey, which Dungey himself said had never happened before.

I think we would have seen a more dominant career had he never crashed outdoors and stayed with Honda, he was riding all time fast. Riding that fast is also unsustainable, but even dialing it back 10% he would have been near untouchable.

Here's my big shocker:

- Kawaski will sign AC92 to a three year deal as well as Joey to a two year deal, and will let Tomac walk.

- JGR signs ET3 to a three year deal.

- Roczen stays at Honda.

Zero chance Tomac would leave Kawasaki for JGR.

JGR will be lucky to exist another year. No title sponsor, bleeding money like crazy, working on a fraction of manufacturer support that they were previously getting from Yamaha. After they destroy a few bikes at the nationals this summer watching Hill and Decotis getting 18th the guy writing the checks will start to question the red ink. It was a little different when Yamaha and AutoTrader would chip in $. There's a good reason RCH folded after one year of limited sponsorship.

Tomac likely re-signs with Kawasaki. Definitely will if he wins either the SX championship or the Motocross title for the 3rd straight year. If he moved Yamaha is full so Honda or KTM would be more likely.
I feel like this is what will happen. Outdoors is going to go so bad for them besides Weston and he’s still recovering.

I agree. I always thought that he looked better on the Honda. When I heard him say that on the podcast I was wondering how much truth was in it. He has put in incredible rides on the Kawi in the last couple years but I think it took him a long time to develop that bike to get to the same pace he was riding on the CRF which he was immediately fast on.

Kawi's plan for Savatgy was to keep the seat warm for AC right? With Savatgy doing the best of the rookies its hard to see Kawi letting him go but who knows. And as much as I want to see AC on that green 450, I see Honda going after him hard. Seely will be out most likely and with AC and Roczens relationship, I can see that being a good fit.
Honda won't let go of Seely unless he retires. They're too loyal to him

Didnt Tomac sign an extension at Kawi last year anyways?

It could very well be a fizzer of an off season. Forkner wont move up at the end of the season and AC wont point out so he could stay another year as well. If that's the case, then most of the big shots are all signed through 2020. Roczen, Tomac, all of KTM red bull, all of Yamaha, all of Husky are all locked in. That leaves Seely and Savatgy, 1 spot at RMKTM and the JGR guys basically left.

If nobody moves up from the 250's this year which is possible then everyone could just stay where they're at for another year.

This vid sums up Tomac at his PRIME on the Honda. The winning by 1:15 over 2nd Tomac. The rider that Weege said may be the fastest anyone has ever gone in AMA motocross, which he agreed it may be, but he said look what happened its unsustainable. So he was riding at a speed you cant ride at.

The part where he jumps off a braking bump at the bottom of a hill at Glen helen, jumps up the hill, then in mid air turns sideways and lands in a berm going the other direction, shows the level of finesse he had on that damn Honda. Luckily they slowmo a lot of things so u can really see how technical he is riding... its insane... insane. Thank god they filmed this in slow mo.

Hell yea. The Kawi rewards aggression, which he can obviously do, but its not “him”. Hes a finesse rider, and the Honda rewarded that a lot.

The way to describe how he rode that Honda. Perfection and Precision... repetitively.

One of the reasons I brought this up is, I don’t think Eli has looked consistently comfortable on the Kawi. Ever. He has moments of brilliance to be sure, but I have a feeling he could gel with another bike even better.

I think hes an incredible rider, so he makes it work on the Kawi, but I agree hes never looked like he did on that Honda. It just seems like he fights it. Hes won 2 championships yes... he should have 1-2 sx championships to go with them.

He caught Dungey, got red plate, got out front next race, washed front end. Was down on points but still close at Vegas.

Last year gets out front early leading A1, crashes, hurts shoulder, dnf 2 races, still comes close at the end and wins a lot of races.

Add to that 1 mechanical per season until the one were in now, starting 2 years ago in sx with the front brake.

I think you're blind.
I thought he looked awesome outdoors on the Kawi. How many times did he totally smoke the 450 class? He had MM demoralized last year. He pretty much turned up the wick on demand.
That bike had to be dialed to do that to some of the best riders in the world!

You guys just can't take it when Honda isn't winning. Hell, Roczen had to take his e start off that pos last year to make it go.

I say 1 year because AC hasnt proven himself like he should have in the 250 class. The 1 year will allow AC to shoot his shot and still allow kawi to sign forkner if it doesnt work out.

Please note, im a huge kawi fan, and eli ac and forkner are the guys i root for every time. Kawi has a tough choice between the 3 in the next few years. Joey hasnt done anything for kawi like the other 3 have. Thats why hes the odd one out even tho hes doing great as a rookie this year. Kawi is loyal to their riders and ac and forkner have been riding for kawi for a long time. Tomac has given kawi 2 titles and an ass load of 450 sx wins.

Believe me, i would love for kawi to field all 3 guys but someone is getting cut. I dont see them fielding 3 riders.
Dude, Forkner still has another year ATLEAST in the 250’s. It’s Savatgys first swing on the 450 and he’s doing very well this year. As far as Tomac goes, SX is where the money is and you can be God’s gift outdoors, but that doesn’t mean shit if you can’t secure SX titles.

If Forkner and Cianciarulo keep riding this well all year, it really seems like they should move up to 450. Too bad there aren't enough spots for all these guys.

Dungey was 20 for his first full season on 450's. Forkner and Cianciarulo are already older than that.
Forkner is only 19

My hot take.

Kawi signs Eli to a 3 year deal. They also kick joey and add AC for a 1 year deal. After AC’s deal is up they evaluate whether or not forkner would be a better fit. Somehow kawi works it out so when eli retires, they have forkner and AC on the team.

Joey goes to JGR and replaces hill or chad

Roczen stays at honda.

Make Sence accept for 1 part , why would ac Agree to a one year deal , he has a little to much clout for a one year deal imo and would have to have better offers than that
I wonder if Kawasaki tries to keep all 3 , and then worry about Forkner when the time comes

No way AC goes for a one year deal. He will have good 3 year deals on the table. Forkner is probably sizing up 30 year deals tonight over tea.

Pulp has said multiple times that Honda is going after AC92 hard, makes sense considering him and Roczen have been training partners for awhile and AC could beat Seely on his 250. I like Seely but his graph is trending downwards after the injuries and what not. Hasn't done much in awhile.

With AC’s all over the place-ness, and lack of championships... is this best for Honda for a 450 rider? It may be it might not I dont know... Theyre dying to win even 1 championship. I feel if they can get 1 indoor/outdoor championship in either class that gives them soooomething to go off of. Shit even a 450/250 race win would be nice for them right now lol, but thats not happening either. Kenny has lead some laps tho!! Is Malcolm their last championship in any class? I cant remember.

Kawi has a billion 450 titles with RV, JS7..etc plus 250, Yamaha wins a 250 title every year, Suzuki won outdoors with Kenny not long ago, KTM won a lot with Dungey, Roczen 450mx 250sx plus Marvin on 250s, Husky won a shit ton in their couple years of existing... Honda is dying right now for ANYTHING. They havent won jack shit in forever...

I see some logic with this post, Honda might be tempted to field 3 bikes.....you never know, it would be a shame ot let Seely go but AC might be a better choice if they only field 2

I watched this video so many times. His skill balance with outside leg is a beauty. Head and shoulders position are top, head all the time above the bars, elbows up ect. To me, it's perfection.
