How many premier class factory rides are there these days as opposed to 10-15 years ago? It seems like the walls are closing in which sucks. Sucks even more that only one guy can win a race and the rest are pretty much overlooked and wondering what's wrong.

Too bad they can’t give him a 350 or even stock bikes with graphics.

Does he ride a husky waiting for injury or go to a Japanese bike?

This sucks for dean. I agree his results have not been great but dude has had injuries and so on. He came into supercross looking good and got hurt. I still think he deserves a chance if he can stay healthy.

Like everyone else said. He is now top of the pile for a fill in ride and we have a long way before the season starts. But the fill in rider thing does not seem to help guys do awsome if they are just jumping on a new bike.

"Pros" can't get support but amateurs get free bikes and "expense" money. Any other sport where amateurs can be paid?

He finished 7th in points with one podium (2nd place).
Seems pretty good to me.

BMX... swimming, la crosse, soccer, volleyball, basketball, etc... There is nothing unprecedented about companies supporting elite amateurs with material goods and travel expenses with the hope they advance to competing as a professional.

There is a significant difference between that and getting a paycheck every other week.

^Webb killed it on a 250. If he can stay healthy, he has the potential to be a threat someday. Eli was fast but he didn’t get it together until he was 24. Webb is 22 and has potential-whether he unlocks it or not is the question, especially with this whole new program.

I think Deano has podium potential (even win potential) but is not a title threat on a 450

This is the problem with giving so much attention to the 250 class and amateurs.

Everyone says we don’t have the budget for another guy because of mechanic/bike/parts/travel/etc. then each manufacturer has 2 or 3 250 guys that do not move the needle on results or bike sales.

Guys like Dean, Mookie, Bogle, Grant, and Reed should have rides before guys that average 8-15 in a regional 250 class. The talent and money need to be spent in the premiere class.

I think Tomac was ahead of Webb at age 22. At 21, he already had Moto wins, overall wins and 3 SX podiums. At 22 he was dominating MX before his season ending crash.

Friese has a ride because of his contributions as a test rider for the team and his steady improvements over the years.

Is it not Coldenhoff and Jonass at Husky? Also, really not understanding the lack of logic people seem to be showing. Like it or not MX/SX is a business and as much as a loveable guy Deano is, he's not giving any exposure sitting on the side lines. Dude is extremely injury prone which sucks badly becuase he's a great rider but teams need riders on the track to make their salary worthwhile, something a lot of people seem to not understand

Bummed for deano. That being said, he’s 26 about to be 27 before the season comes.

He had a rough start to his 450 Career in 2015/2016 with injuries. 2017 (Privateer Yamaha to start) was in my eyes his best 450 season yet, especially with his outdoor results. That earned him his 2018 ride. He got hurt twice, results were lackluster, except for the 2nd at Indy and the 5th at Foxbourough, and missed the entire MX season. He also has stated many times he won’t be back on the bike until November.

Deano’s problem has never been his lack of effort or want to be there. He can’t stay healthy and is at the end of his career with a lot of talent coming up fast. He’ll find something, but I don’t fault Husky for not rehiring him

This. Dean’s a likable guy, popular with fans, and tries hard. But If you look at it from a pure numbers/results standpoint, in four years (since 2015) he has a total of three 3rd place moto finishes outdoors (all in 2017), and one 2nd place in SX (2018). He’ll land a ride somewhere, or do the sprinter van and wait out a fill-in ride.
