The guess of 100,000 people has me mostly scared off. Even if it's 60,000, traffic and viewing will be enough to drive me insane. Will there be a good stream/broadcast of it?

I think if you get there before 9AM you won't have an issue getting in or getting tickets. You might have a slow drive on Red Bud Trail and possibly through town, but you won't be stopped. After 9am I bet you'll be stopped through town. The way out is also a huge PIA but traffic is usually pretty steady. It's going to be interesting no matter what! I can't wait!

Quick look through of most of the years. Before anyone comments all the high numbers are Saturday and Sunday tickets sold but the the USA rounds I couldn't find anymore data on them so the doubled number is next to them as a rough guess.

2004 Netherlands approx 85,000
2005 France approx 80,000
2006 GB approx 60,000.
2007 USA approx 23,987 --- 46K
2008 GB 60,000+
2009 Can't find any figures
2010 USA approx 30,000 --- 60K
2011 France 68,000
2012 Belguim approx 85,000
2013 Germany approx 80,000
2014 Latvia aprrox 63,000
2015 France approx 80,000.
2016 Italy approx 85,000.
2017 GB approx 75,000.

Honestly I cant see it being more than 55,000 because you wont get that many Europeans flying over as people still do't have a lot of money to be wasting like that.
Mxon last year was no where near 75000 more like 45-50
2008 on the other hand at matterly was more like 85000 it was packed

Live Aid, Wembly, 1985.

This was 70,000 people. Remember that they're all up in the stands too.

I don't think I've seen that many people at a motocross event anywhere, ever. So I wouldn't lend too much credence to Youthstream's make-em-up figures.

Atlanta supercross has had 65-70 a few times.

The National is absurdly packed as is. I don't know how their going to fit all the people in that place. There's not enough spectator room. Heck, remember the problems Budds had with the tunnels and what not.
I was at the Budds MXdN...we were packed in practically shoulder to shoulder. It was nuts!

This from a story in 2007,
" Amy Ritchie. How big is Red Bud?"We haven't hit 30,000 (people attending the race) yet but last year we were at 28,000," said Gene Ritchie. And while the Ritchies are expanding the track, don't expect 50,000 anytime soon."This is enough for us to handle and we can always welcome a few more, but 50,000 is unrealistic,"

I'm guessing their going to beat that 50,000 mark.

I'll be there... Expecting it to be a mess. I'm in both days, my wife going only on Sunday. I hope it doesn't suck for her. But 50,000 doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility.

EDIT: That news story linked above is from 2007, FYI
Yea, I thought I actually heard Tim Richie say they are preparing for 3x the usual crowd...

Either way, you know they're dumping their heart and souls into making this event flow as smoothly as possible for spectators and racers alike.

Hell, I'll show up a week early and sit outside the gate like it's a line for the new iPhone, if need be! Can't say I feel bad for anyone strolling in late enough to be stuck in traffic - FRIGGIN MXDN MATES!!! The weekend of Oct 5th - Nothing, else, matters.

If I can make it from the other side for just a weekend, you can make from your side Jeffro. Grab a sleeping bag, a back pack full of clothes and just wing it brother. And let the good Lord provide, as they like to say in your country.

Those of yall planning on sleeping in you cars, just find a truck stop or rest stop. If going to a truck stop go in and ask the cashier if it's cool if you sleep there. They always say yes. Buy gas when you leave for the free camp site and free shitter. Dont be a drunken asshole.

My feeling is this show is gonna have a life of its own. It's gonna be a beast that gets out of control.
It's gonna be wild, dangerous, and talked about for decades to come.

If 80k were at Budds, this goes 100,000.

I called the track a few weeks ago about this very question and they said there was no cap on the general admission tickets, you can buy general admission tickets at the gate. Sure hope that is true. Did not think about regulatory crap possibly putting a cap on attendance?

Pontiac topped 60,000 at least once back in the day also. Of course the place had 80,000 seats so it still wasn't "packed".

That's what any Youthstream guy would say every year. Especially in the US, where interest seems feeble.

Id guesstimate much less than Matterly 2006 or Budds Creek 2007, yet far more than a regular Red Bud,

Rup says between 40-50,000.

Lots of people, especially on here, are throwing out crazy made up numbers. The announcer over the PA said 30k for each day, making 60k total for the weekend was the estimate. Regular nationals run 22-28k depending on the year. So more than double a national when you count both days.

Awesome considering the weather. Yesterday in Michigan it was 82 and partly sunny.....

I asked one of the redbud crew members and they said ticket sales were over 100k. I don't know if that is true or not but I figured I'd put that guestimation out there Tongue .

Only problem with what the announcer said about 30k each day, is that there were WAY more people on Sunday than on Saturday.

Having been there and been to 10 other MXdN events in the past. I am calling bullshit on that one. Crowd was good, but not close to Erneé, Maggiora or Matterley '06, where you could hardly move. We will never know for sure because YS attendance figured are completely fabricated.

I guess one thing about RedBud is that there are a ton of areas surrounding the entire track that can hold a big crowd, rather than one or two main spots to watch from.

Seemed like a pretty good size to me! I’d say at least 60k. Be curious how many people that purchased tickets didn’t go because of the weather.
