Imagine how mad these people would be if someone's decision to not race the MXdN actually had some effect on their life.

Next up on Vital is a thread where we complain about Tom Cruise choosing Burger King over McDonalds!

i mean Euro sand tracks ... not the so called sandtracks in AMA ..

last time Herlings lost on a sandtrack was last year Valkenswaard .. if my memory is correct Wink

Herlings in Assen , Lommel or Valkenswaard would whoop Tomacs ass ...

the way Tomac would whoop Herlings ass at MEC

as for this year, i'll be rooting him on the whole way, he is after all the fastest guy in the US so we'd be silly to leave him off because we're butt-hurt.
Correction. Tomac = FMOP currently.

I remembered the last time Herlings and Tomac lined up together. Tomac was certainly NOT FMOP.

I can't even remember where he finished. Anyone?

Yes, Barcia would have been a much better pick over Tomac if it came down between the two. Damn you Tomac for not wanting to fly to Great Britain while preparing for a Supercross race the following week you're contracted to race. Terrible person.

I agree with Peelout. I don't think he deserves to be there, but because he is...it would be just wrong not to root for him/our team.

What about when your whole country just decides not to go , just isn't worth the trip? You might as well start flaming the entire countries who don't show up to the MXoN's.

I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't race it next year or years after. These guys race a ton, on top of that some of them train like crazy, and don't get a lof of off weekends.

Me personally, I would probably go every year selected to represent my country; However, with racing the MEC and having the GP races that he was I believe contractually obligated to the past few years I don't totally blame him for not going. He has to have some time off in September/October before getting back to the grind.
next years MXON is in Assen ..deep sand , would surprise me if Tomac lines up and battle Herlings on a proper sand track ..
Every time I see this...I scratch my head. Wouldn't we want a more even track surface to equal things out......you know , like dirt?

Of course our guys struggle in the sand...
We have no sand tracks here like Assen and Lommel. Great way to pound your chest , when our guys can't even practice the type of terrain...

Not to drag up last years drama, and I don't remember the exact dates, but it's ridiculous how ridiculed he got for skipping MXDN last year. It was one of those scenarios where Indiana is one weekend (just won first MX title), the following weekend is the USGP, then you leave to Europe on Monday and do press all week until the MXDN (biggest race of the year), then you fly home and immediately do press all day as the MEC defending champion and race on Saturday, then it's immediately into SX testing and training. It's unreal how whiny some of you guys have been since, still bringing it up and trying to trash talk Eli based on his decisions.

I could be wrong, but what was Tim Gajser’s schedule like during that exact time period?

Didn’t he fly into the US, race the GP, fly back to Europe for the MXoN, then fly back to the US for the MEC?
Tomac year was started training in November and racing from January on. The two series are just different and the schedules clash a bit.

In any event Tomac didn’t race it last year hate him all you want he is still the best we have.

With the MX/SX schedule I don't blame him for taking some time off. Look what happened to Dungey and Villopoto, retired at 28. You can only do so many 6 day weeks busting your ass before you just wanna say fuck it.

I read the "our series is a meat grinder " comment. Jeez Louise, current pros wouldn't stand a chance in the 70's 80's and early 90's.racing year. MXDN ought to be raced for fun in my opinion.

its not about chest pounding ... its about Tomac only wanting to race at USA tracks as he has a good record at home but on Euro tracks his record sucks

Tomac didnt race last MXON's ... now its on hometrack and he turns around 180 degrees ... from a meaningless race with unlucky schedule its now the most important race of the year for god and country ... LOL .... MEC is still there , championship is still the same .. His interview was just stunning if you remember he pulled out and why ..

if Herlings wins ? you think he will be lining up next years at Assen ?

Eli can ride Euro tracks faster than any Euro he's raced against. He logged the fastest lap time of anyone in all 4 of the MXdN motos he raced in 2013 and 2014. Also doing that on a 250 in 2013 and on a sand track in 2014. Crashes and bad starts cost him, but the facts of speed are not on your side my friend.

maybe he can , but he never did ...he didnt win any moto ... the winner takes the flag first , not the dude who did a fast lap and crashed the laps before and after ...
since when are crashes and bad starts not a part of moto ?? dont use it when it suits you

Isn't Tomac 5 for 6 in MXGP motos? Something like that. Keep talking though.
