So I would like to keep my teeth in tact, and I have also read that mouth guards can help reduce the risk of concussions. DO any vital members wear mouthguards while riding? and what brand? I know I have seen Joey Savatgy taking them out on the podium before.
do y'all use a standard top fitting guard(that's what I have always used playing baseball and lacrosse) or one of the top/bottoms with an air channel in the middle?

This article is trash. It is full of subjective opinion with almost no data to back anything up. It also seems like it is talking about protecting direct hits to the mouth that would result in tooth damage, which is not the case most times with abfull face helmet. It also does not mention concussions at all as far as I could tell. Here is an excerpt which makes alot of assumptions in its conclusion.
"Boil-and-bite mouthguards are worn by many young athletes. They have the potential to be better than stock mouthguards, at least when they are first fitted to the athlete's mouth. However, the athlete soon chews through the mouthguard, making it a poor fit in the mouth. These mouthguards last only a few months and do not provide much protection. The athlete must keep the upper and lower jaws together to hold the mouthguard in place, which is a conscious and uncomfortable situation. There is also a tendency to use these mouthguards beyond the time when they are chewed through or are too thin to offer protection. These mouthguards are an unacceptable choice."
EDIT: Was looking into the sisu guard as I have been thinking about getting one to reduce risk of concussions, but then read this on sisu's website.

I grind my teeth in my sleep so I wear a night guard every night. I wear them out about once a year and when I do I order a new one and use the old one when I ride. I've used both of these vendors and they are the exact same thing a dentist will make but much cheaper. They fit perfectly and I don't notice it at all while riding, or sleeping.
