Mouth Guards in moto

So I would like to keep my teeth in tact, and I have also read that mouth guards can help reduce the risk of concussions. DO any vital members wear mouthguards while riding? and what brand? I know I have seen Joey Savatgy taking them out on the podium before.

do y'all use a standard top fitting guard(that's what I have always used playing baseball and lacrosse) or one of the top/bottoms with an air channel in the middle?

I wear a shock doctor , seems weird riding without it. Jaw is a little sore after clinching on it after a long trail ride or scramble though.

I tried the shock doctor and it seemed way too thick. I also realize I am just too much goon and ride with my mouth open a lot.

I had one custom made by my dentist. I've chipped and broken teeth without one, but never with one.

My 7 year old has rode with one for about a year now. I have bought him a bunch of different brands and types. He prefers the dual layer yellow and black ones from walmart for like 7 bucks.

I wore a mouth guard for about a year or two, but I have not been wearing one lately because I found it hard to keep clean. You’re constantly taking it in and out of your mouth at the track. The mouth guard is also rubber and pourus to bacteria.

Shock Doctor here... I feel it has helped me breath even better and saved some teeth.

My wife is a dentist. They can make custom ones that are way more comfortable than the store bought "boil and fit" types. Plus, they use less material which allows better breathing and they are much less likely to fall out.

I don't wear one in moto, but for sports my son uses the sisu mouthgard. It's about a 1/8in thick and you mold it in. Best part is, once it's in he doesn't take it out the whole game. He can talk and drink with it in like it's not even there. https://www.sisuguard.com

I did take me four tries to mold it correctly, and I had to trim the ends. But once I figured that out it molded perfect. I have heard the dentist will do it for you too. I'm going to bring a new one next visit and see if they will.

I use the Shock Doctor SuperFit Basketball Mouthguard. It is thin but protective and you can talk with it in your mouth. It is also easy to fit to your teeth. I had 5 rides with it and absolutely love it. It obviously isn't the right sport mouthguard but it will do the job.

I have a shock doctor that goes on the bottom. Ran it for years. I guarantee it lessened a concussion for me. Once you get used to it no big deal.

Based on my experience, the mouth guard is helping when I smack my dome. I'll take what I can get. That was an interesting read though.

mouth breather here... i tried one and felt like i couldn't get ANY oxygen. they're not for everyone.

I have been wearing mouth guards while riding ever since I started racing as a kid. The first one I had was made by a dental hygienist that I met at the track and it lasted for years.

I grind my teeth in my sleep so I wear a night guard every night. I wear them out about once a year and when I do I order a new one and use the old one when I ride. I've used both of these vendors and they are the exact same thing a dentist will make but much cheaper. They fit perfectly and I don't notice it at all while riding, or sleeping.

When I rode gears ago I landed hard and got what felt like a mild concussion and started to wear one after that but couldn’t get used to it. Felt hard to breathe. I never gave enough time or had one fit good though.
