How close are these 48mm KYB forks to the KYB SSS forks?

I think that the "kit" forks that people can buy through Technical Touch or Enzo are AOS, not SSS?
To put it bluntly, they're basically the exact same thing. It's more or a marketing slogan...

"Evolving the fundamental performance elements of ‘RUN’, ‘TURN’ and ‘STOP’ to a new level, Suzuki has infused the Winning Balance into the new 2019 RM-Z250."

Suzuki marketing really nailed their slogan here

How's that new Suzuki? "Well, it runs, turns, and stops."

Actually to correct myself, AOS and SSS are different but one of them is the older system found on the first KYB twin cartridge forks that Yamaha equipped. The systems found on Yamaha and this RM-Z250 are basically the same system.

Edit- couldn't they have spec'd a different Showa shock or is it a Suzuki BFRC thing?

The lateness has to do with the factory change over in Japan.

Three things about the suspension: One, the RM-Z250 was already using KYB, albeit an air fork. The contract could've still been in place.

Second, variety: Kawasaki, Suzuki, and Honda have regularly had a bike on both KYB and Showa to have range of development.

Third, admitting it wasn't a great idea: If they specced the Suzuki RM-Z250 with Showa without the BFRC shock, what does that say about the 450? It's kind of like admitting it wasn't a great idea.
Thanks, appreciate the info and insight.

So how will JGR be able to race it if it's not available to dealers until February of next year? Dont you have to have 400 on showroom floors to be homologated?

Poll question: how many riders would consider an MX bike with 2-4 year old technology, but an MSRP 10-20% less than the competition? For example, would people buy a "2019" RMZ if underneath it was a 2015/16, but with a demonstrably lower OTD price? Supplier costs would dictate the feasibility of this concept for manufacturers, but there may be a market for such a concept.

The cut-off date is later in the Supercross season. When KTM races their FEs at A1, the bike don’t hit dealers for about another two months sometimes.

I think they just have to be in the States. If dealers are projected to get them in February I would imaging they will be in the country by December.

Dang, February is cutting it close for AMA homologation. Bike looks good though.

AMA homologation is 200 units by March 1st and 400 Units by June 1st.

You'd think an electric start would have been a priority for Suzuki after Kenny and Dungey got together at the mudder in Vegas a few years ago. Dungy hit the button and was on his way, but Kenny was out of it because he had to kick his bike a bunch of times.

Wasn't Kenny already signed with Honda? Not so much urgency...

Funny, I pulled a '17 CRF-RX out of a friend's shop, today...it started...
With the Kickstarter.
The electric system didn't want to work.
At the same time, I've never ever had ANY problem starting the 2018 RMZ I've been riding.

But, hey, that's just me.

I'm interested to see what all this is about given that basically every tuner out there recommended a different link wishbone for the 18:

"The 2019 RM-Z450’s BFRC shock has a new spring rate and corresponding damping force settings to produce even better handling characteristics."

Once I put a Ride Eng link and Race Tech valves in my 18 the suspension overall feels essentially the same as my previous RMZ with RT suspension did.

Well if he hasn't had the battery on charger then its likely it would be flat....but I do get your point that if you do store your bike for a while, its EC and battery is flat then it could be an issue, which obviously doesn't apply to the only bike to have a KS in 2019 (the RMZ).

I kept the stock link per Factory Connection's recommendation...and they revalved/resprung it. They've got my scoot feeling lighter (strange, I know) & handling better than a '17.

Why would that matter? Kenny lost a race because his Suzuki had a hard time kicking over...

Anyone notice the age recommendations? Wonder how that will effect dealers.

February release with no E start, same old 250 engine. Those engineers must feel hamstringed by budget constraints, especially at a time when they need to go all in to keep up. Pretty sad really.

I imagine Suzuki engineers feel about like GM engineers did in 1998. Toyota has the legendary Camry, Honda has the iconic Accord, what does GM have? The Grand Am.

The 2019 Suzuki RMZ250 is the 1998 Grand Am of the motocross world.

If I was a die hard Suzuki rider and really gelled with them, absolutely. I don’t believe any brand of bike has improved leaps and bounds over the last 2-4 years if you compared lap times for an amateur. A racer is going to go fastest on what bike he’s the most comfortable on regardless of techno features. Right?

I really liked my ‘11 RMZ, but the frame was very rigid. Anyone comment on if these newer RMZ’s are more forgiving? I like the engine character that KTM started and others have copied - less chunky and more electric and long revving feel. RMZ still old school but very effective.
