I'm a fan of the Stewarts...as riders. But, there maybe some parts of the Stewart (James or Malcolm) "package" that some teams aren't willing to deal with on an every-weekend basis. Lots of talk about Big James being too involved. I don't have a clue...but there must be other reasons bigger than Malcolm's lack of training ethic (apparently) and spotty results for him not to be getting phone calls. It does seem that he wants the deal "his way" or no way a bit...

I still there ought to be a Team Bass Pro or Team Ranger Boats...
That's correct. He had an offer for this year and turned it down. Quite the gamble if you ask me. It wasn't guaranteed that he was going to get a fill in ride anywhere. Sure in the end it worked out but he could have been stuck privateering it.

I don’t think the Stewarts ever really cared about this sport itself. I think they were just introduced to it at a young age and were amazingly talented at it so that’s what they did. It was the job that they could do to earn the most money in the shortest amount of time. They cared about making the money and getting the fame. They did that. They’re not alone. Many riders I’m sure have this mindset and we know for sure millions of people around the world have this mindset. For many riders, they get burnt out on the sport due to the training they do to get and stay at the top level. See: Villopoto. Others decide that racing professionally isn’t worth the risk anymore after such an amazing career. See: Dungey. For the Stewarts, I believe they really never had a strong desire for the sport itself in the first place, so once their time had/has come and gone, they stepped/will step out of the spotlight and go live the rest of their personal lives in peace the way they’d like to with the millions they’ve made.

When he feels like it I would imagine. For now, he appears ok with where he is at racing and life wise.

Come on. James was still trying to race in 2016 at age 30 after a head injury in round one, after already logging a great career. Would somebody really do that if they didn't like racing?

I think it didn't work out due to gear contracts. If I remember on pulp Malcom saying "they must not want you very bad if they won't let you wear your own great company"

Mookie will be one of the all time greatest? Are you high? He trail rides around in 13th and has 0 podiums and 0 wins.

MCR doesn't have a gear deal, Jake Weimer wore Seven gear, Brayton wore Fly and Vince Friese started in JT but eventually switched to Fly.

If I remember correctly that quote from Malcolm was in regards to if he would be willing to join a team with a gear deal, as he would obviously not be able to run Seven.

seems like having talent for something you don't particularly enjoy is a special kind of curse.

living up to others expectations all the time.

living close with your family and having your entire lifes history revolve around this industry and all that makes it hard to say "fuck it" and move to canada to be a fishing guide or something.

first world problems and all, but definitely one of the worst ones.

he's making fun of people that get star struck by mookie's gravitas.

"Trail rides in 13th" - that made me LOL

Would just like to hear a little more about their investment advisor. That person must be pretty good, making enough $$ to be able to support at least 5 adults, one child, and do it without having to scrimp by. They are doing something right.

Make that 2 kids now!
I think the gear company would bring in a few $$ plus the mortgage is paid. His mum and dad are probably working. I would bet that 25 year old Malc would be riding off a combination of his parents and james. Yeah Malcolm won a championship but he said he has spent that money already

I don't think Mum and Dad are working.

I'd be VERY surprised if Seven makes any money at all. They have no big rider deals and they're not rushing to sign any big names.. I'd bet the company is sold/taken over by investors then ran into the ground further within two years.

It's a shame he's not serious about the sport. He has a lot of talent but I get the impression it's been a little bit too comfortable growing up around the compound and he lacks the desire of the other guys. I think it was Marvin Hagler who said it's hard to get out of bed and go running at 6am when you're wearing silk Pyjamas.

Perhaps he could whip his fans into a frenzy and silence The Haterzzz by tweeting that he's "Not Quite Done Yet" before getting back on the Xbox? Woohoo

It would certainly be easy, especially coming from nothing and being from a low income home. I don't know where the Stewart's were before James's stardom but I imagine they probably weren't rich but you would think Mookie most likely didn't go without much growing up being the younger of the two by quite a bit.

Buster beat the champ so he was on top of the sport with nowhere to go but down, this is probably one of the reasons we seen Carmichael retire a few years early and why James didnt. Carmichael dominated for years and took down the king while James did have his moments, he didn't dominate consistently, making him feel he had more to accomplish. (just my honest guess),

So anyway this does not apply to Mookie in my mind, he hasn't dominated for any period or dethroned the champ. Youd think he'd still be hungry for his own success, want his own legacy, trophys, money. I don't understand how you can just sit out when you have everything you need but that's me, motorcycles are life in my family and I would love to be out there. So maybe he just doesn't really give a shit. Maybe for him racing is fun but not his only love? Its possible since he really wasn't that much into it growing up. I'm Not the biggest fan of either but I'd much rather see both Stewart's out there, racing is more exciting if they are regardless of who you root for.

Edit: forgot to answer the OP's question. I'd say he will race as long as he can do it and

1-not spend his own money
2- race SX and skip outdoors
3-Show up and make the main while somewhat out of shape

Yea I dont want to go to work either but you got to be smart and make enough money to retire. If you are a sx racer that is not very long. If he can race until early thirtys he needs to do it. That is a super early retirement.

You mean direct message them on a social media platform that's open to the public, which they themselves chose to be a part of?
Wow!!! Just wow...

Has he committed to the Aus SX series at all? Not sure what the $ and support is like for that series maybe some Aussie's here can chime in? It's been good enough for Brayton...

I bet he is doing all of the off season races that Peronard is involved with: Montreal, Bercy, Geneva. From the numbers I have heard for start money I bet Malcolm is in the $15-20k range for those races.

Shoot, 3 off season races and he'll probably make 10x what he would by privateering the Nationals.

I guess the question is does he want to make some money, or make some money and know that he tried to be the best motorcycle racer he could be?
