Ride it a couple of times and it will be worth about $1200.00. I'd like to have it though. I'd pay 3 grand for it, just because I'm in to KX's and have 3 others. I have and prefer the 97' model over the 98 but that is just me.

anything under $4000 would be a good buy, anything over $5000 would be a bad buy.

That was a great bike...awesome power, great suspension, and stable handling. I agree with the above, 4K would be a good buy. Crazy though, what you think it's worth and what it actually goes for can be very far apart.

Wouldn't be surprised to see it go for 4500 to someone who rode KX's back then and has more money than sense. That bike is worth WAY more than 2000 lol.

Great for that time period? Or great if you rode it today?

I’d imagine that today’s technology has a way of sobering our memories of old bikes. And if not, and this KX would still feel like “great suspension” today, that’s just sad.

I agree, but for the time, it was great for me. I had a local suspension tuner swap the springs to a straight rate (for my weight) and a revalve. It was confidence inspiring at the time. Since I'm 20 years slower, I'm sure it would be just fine today too.

Whoever saved that bike for 20 years isnt selling it for 3000. I bet asking 7500 or something. And riding it would be stupid. You could get a used bike that year for 1000. That kind of bike is for a special kind of buyer

That was the bike i dreamed as teen, Tried one a few year ago. Great bike Fast,Stable but turning the thing was a different story! Would still love too own one.

There's a cockhead that lives across the road from me with a KX 250, not sure what year due to the Rockstar and Monster decals all over it, plus the fully sick Skin Industries seat cover that's gone brown, but I'm guessing '95/'96? Says he will never part with it, "it's his baby" (it's roached).
He has another similar year KX 250 in boxes. I'd love to get my hands on them and bring them back to their former glory.

Fucken gumby wanker, it's sickening.

Yes quite funny seeing the lowballs and thinking its realistic, for someone who rode that model and got cash to splash they wouldnt blink at 6+k. Doubt you could build one for less.

I bought one of those that year....not how I remember it, although the motor was good.
Had the 125 and sent the top end to pro circuit, got the pipe and silencer too...that 125 flew

Anyone on here who says it's worth less than $4000 is dreaming. It may not be a bike you want, but this era of bike is really sought after now, and plenty of guys doing replicas of 90s machines. Start with a $1000 heap and it's very easy to spend $3000+ to restore it and it still won't be close to a brand new machine like this.

Forks worst part, handled ok or even good. Power, or motor, and rear suspension a 10. A bigger stronger guy would manage the front end, its a sweet bike.

It's worth what someone is willing to pay for it, so yes I'm sure there is someone out there who wouldn't miss $6K.

I don't think it's worth more that $2K because 1) it's not brand new, 2) even if it was, you'll need to drop money on it to make it rideable again (seals, bearings, hoses, tires, etc.) and 3) I owned that bike for years and was happy to see it go. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad bike, but the best thing about it was the power, and I could drop a 300 kit into a YZ250 and get more hit on a better overall bike.

Its a nice bike, but its not rare. Its not like finding a 1987 ATC250R. The truth is you can still buy these bikes for $1500 and having something that looks just like that for $3500 total investment. And that's what this bike is worth give or take a few hundred.

I had far less invested in this thing and it ran like a top:
