I will never forget the moment my misses discovered my bike - she told me it was missing one thing, took off her kit to expose some black lingerie, jumped on the bike and started posing on it and told me to take some photos.

So a few months down the line I gave her a baby.

Good times.

I’ve never seen a sheep in black lingerie. Must have been quite a sight!

Another good tactic is to have several, so a new one just mingles in with the others. Blend in!

I don't hide bikes but for sure parts. I got tiered of all the questions when UPS shows up. So now, everything gets shipped to my work. I leave shit in my truck till she's not staring out the kitchen window, then bring it in the garage. Most of the time I can get it on the bike without getting walked in on.

We have a great relationship and can afford it. I just hate all the comments and questions. Bugs the crap out of me. Most girls don't understand why we spend a grand on a dumb pipe that does really nothing!

This is a hell of a lot easier to do this with guitars. Leave the house with an empty guitar case & go to the studio, Come home with a new guitar in the case. If you own enough guitars already when you get married, the wife will never realize when there's a new one laying around. Laughing

I got the “this exhaust is gonna cost 250” (and then I throw 250 of my off the books money in on the 500 dollar pipe) down to a science.

Amateurs....
This guy gets it.

Going to buy a new bike babe got a pretty good deal on it. New KXF250 out the door $3500.

I have never hidden a bike, just left out in open to see if she notices, years ago I had a 01 kx250, and then found a good deal on the matching 125......needless to say I had enough graphics and stuff to make it look identical and she did not see them together for a couple months......when she did I told I have had it forever...lol

after that we went to a Suzuki dealer to "look" for another used bike, she waited in car until I rolled out my new 450 and shook her head, but said if that is what you want go for it.

When I was a kid and we wanted a new bike my Dad had this policy that IF you mention it to my mother there will be a huge family row and she'll say NO. So you buy it secretly, use it as much as possible and keep it locked in the shed. By the time she spots it on a bank statement, its too late to take it back. You have the same family row, but at least you have the bike to show for it.
A few years ago he told a friend of mine to use this policy as he wanted a new bike but knew his wife would never approve it. He bought the bike, and got a friend to store it and take it to the races for a few weeks. One Sunday morning his wife said she planned on bringing the kids over to the races to watch that day. This was a big problem as although she didn't know too much about bikes, she knew he had always ridden green, and this was a new Honda...
So fearing the worst he confessed all as he went out the door, then worried all day about what would happen later when he got home... I got text later to say he was in McDonalds getting his dinner, and unless he sold that bike immediately he'd never see his kids again. 8( !!
Extreme reaction, but just goes to show you should never listen to my Dad on these things.. Smile

My Wife just knows I have a blue dirt bike...that's the extent of it. I just keep buying new YZ's every couple years and she has no idea. I'm not going out of my way to hide anything, I just neglect to tell her that the blue bike in the garage isn't the same as the one that was there last year. It's just not worth the hassle.

Girlfriend tried to buy the bike below in secret, and did a pretty good job until a week before she/we picked it up. I was able to figure it out when she would spend time talking to my Dad on the phone and asking me not to spend any money on my 06 RM.

Then she bought me some CV forks for it....so I bought this in secret.

Good call!

My wife has been pushing me to buy a new bike as she knows how much I love the sport and it's only money.

There was a guy who used to race in the otmx named Asker Larnkjaer (sp ?) some of you guys probably recognize the name. He would collect cans at the races and get a new Suzuki every few years. One day he showed up with a brand new RM250, he told us all, "Don't tell my wife how much they cost, she think's there still fifteen hundred dollars" Laughing Guess she didn't pay attention since about 1970 lol

My dad always says, "its easier to ask for forgiveness than permission" haha but i just usually just keep talking about buying something until shes tired of hearing about it and says just buy the damn thing! Or she will just say whats it matter youre gonna do what you want anyways lol...

A week ago tomorrow I went and and picked up a 2018 TX300!

I do tend to fudge the price when i talk about the new go fast parts for my car haha.

@LumpDog841: Please be careful with all of that fuel in your garage.

Wow, that sounds like a nice and healthy relationship Blink

So what happen? Did he sell it or did he go for the bike life?

I just keep buying KTM'S. As you can see from my list. I really don't think my wife knows what year or how many bikes I have had. I do pay cash for all my bikes so that helps.

This drives me nuts too..everytime I get a package delivered to the house I get a text from my wife within minutes asking what is it, how did I pay for it, and why do you need it. Laughing

My wife is pulling the same crap as me- everytime I see her she has a different pair of jeans or a new shirt on. She always claims she has had the jeans, or shirt for years and just finally wearing it. I know she is bullshitting me but that's ok..we're even.

I haven't needed to hide the bike stuff or car stuff or boat stuff from the gf. She is just as in to the boat as I am (she isn't a fan of the fact that I put "too much" engine on the back), and she likes the car enough that she forces me to the garage so I can get it put back together so we can do some cruising this summer... The motocross stuff she just deals with, goes to the track just to hang out with our moto friends.

I live a few provinces away from my home town, where my buddy owns a Yamaha dealership, which is the only place I buy my bikes. I made a deal with him for a new 2018 YZ250X, and that I would pick it up when I went home for Christmas, to bring it back with me.
I'm 34, own my house and all that adult crap, but my mom has always hated me riding/racing (ER nurse)... And she wouldn't be happy that I had just bought another new bike. I told the gf before we arrived to my mom's place for Christmas not to mention the bike.
Well, Christmas day, the room happened to go a little quiet and she blurted something out about bringing home a new dirt bike... I got a look from my mom, I was not happy with the gf who claimed I never told her it was a secret, everyone else knew about it aside from my mother... I didn't hear anything about it, but I know she wasn't happy.

When I was a teen, I would always seem to have a "friends" bike sitting in the garage... And I could ride them whenever I wanted... I don't think she believed me.
It doesn't help that when I was 15, a friend whose mom worked with mine, skipped school to go buy a bike. The bike had a frayed throttle cable, but he rode it home. He ended up launching the bike in to a tree, less than a kilometer from home... He layed there bleeding out for a few hours before a friend found him... That friend was waiting for him with a trailer only a few yards from where he was laying... Just couldn't see him or the bike. Our moms were working in the ER when he was brought in by ambulance... He was barely alive but passed right there in front of his mom... I got an earful about it from my mom when I got home that I was NEVER to touch a bike.

Mine has no idea when it magically turns NEW. Lol.

Is that your 120? (She’s referring to my yz144)

Me: yea....(my 17 fc250).

Hell my wife had no idea my bike was stolen. she walked out in the garage. Set her lunchbox for work on the stand. Freaked out when the window was broke and called me and said someone broke in but they didn’t take anything.....

I remind my wife every now and then about the MX bike I never purchased back in 2002 because I used the money for a wedding ring instead. I'll go on and on about how much slower I must be than my true potential, since I had to ride a year-old, clapped out bike that year. (And had to stop riding for a few weeks before the wedding to boot!) That tends to minimize the damage when I buy something new.

That, and the fact that I make easily 5 times what she does. I get to spend some of my money on myself, don't I?

In late 2016 there was a early 90s US ISDE Team Arai MX-E (Enduro version of the old MX Pro) on eBay. Showed my fiancé and knowing my ISDE and Arai obsession she was happy I found it. Got in a bidding war at the end of the eBay auction but still scored it for like $115...

A week later I found out I was bidding against my fiancé who was trying to get it for me as a gift. Pinch

Thanks, also congrats. Yeah we are paying for the wedding ourselves, and holy fuck is the wedding business a racket. No 450 next year that is for sure.
