Surely you aren't riding on stock suspension are you?

I did change the springs out for my weight was thinking about sending them out for a revalve

I'm 36, got my first 125 when I was 13. Had a few 250's and foopers but have always wound up back on a 125 within a month or two. My current "modern bike" is this 02 YZ125 that started out as a $500 Craigslist roach. Before and after pics.

I was the guy on the video on page one that pulled a fat holeshot from the outside with a gate full of 450's and 250's on a 125. Since then I won my LL area qualifier on my 450 in the Over 50 class. I have since sold my 450 and gone back to a 125 and will race it at the Regional in a couple of weeks. Wish me luck!!!

This is a shot of me on the 125 at 3 Palms near Houston a few weeks ago. Raced the Over 50 class. They gated us with the Over 25 and Over 35. Was able to holeshot every moto (3 moto format that day) and won my class and also beat the Over 25 and Over 35 riders.

The bike was stock then other than a PC pipe and silencer. JM Racing does my suspension. Its at JM right now getting some motor work done. Keeping it 125cc, just getting some head, cylinder and carb mods.

Is anyone else around Houston area, I would love to broaden my moto friends and keep learning from more experienced riders.

Hey Zoom, I have less than a couple years of riding my bike but would like to start racing,
With your experience as a racer and knowing the Houston area, is there a beginner friendly Class where I can get started?

Nice white Yamaha. My rebuild is pretty much the exact same story. I started with a $550 bike and converted it to a 90s throwback bike

I'm from Houston and ride out at Rio. I'm old and slow so prolly would not be much help. I just ride for fun and exercise because I have mouths to feel and that cant happen if I'm in a body cast, or any cast. LOL.

I had a good test ride on the 2017 FC125 at an event last weekend.
What a great bike! While I'd probably be slightly less slow on an easy to ride 350F, the 125 was just so much fun.
(It was a vintage event, and I lost all interest in riding my 1981 RM125X after test riding the modern 125.)

59 years old, is that "vet" or "ancient"? This video is from 3 years ago......1973 Husqvarna 125 racing in Texas. Old guy, old bike, had a blast. 230lb rider on a 125. You might want to turn the volume up, the sound of this old 2 stroke is sweet music!

I'm 45 and just got back into riding again at 43 after 20 + years of not touching a bike. I initially bought a YZ 250 2 stroke. I was somewhat oblivious to just how much of a beginner I was going to be - especially on the local sand track. After struggling with it for a while, I traded it for a CRF250R and things went much better. This year, I bought a 2016 KTM 250sxf and at the same time talked the dealer into parting with his 2006 TM 125 (with the idea that my 14 year old son would ride it). Well, the 125 is a blast to ride - even though I'm 225 pounds, riding in sand. I love the way it handles - so light and nimble - and used it to race last night for the 1st time ever. I was wishing I had the 250 for the extra power when I'd try pulling too high a gear and it would bog, but I'm not in the best shape and I finished each moto without being overly tired. I'm sure that a full moto on the heavier 250 would have tired me out much more. For an older guy like me who has never raced, the 125 is the perfect bike to ease into racing - to get a good feel for it on a machine that is fun, unintimidating, and won't tire me out! When my fitness level improves a bit, I'll use the 250. The 250 is a great bike, and it practically feels like cheating with all of its torque after riding the 125. The 125 isn't easy to go fast on, but it sure is fun to try!

Just got this little ripper home to go with my YZ125. Can't wait for the weekend! There's something otherworldly about holding a smoker tapped on a sandy loam track.

The TM 125 I talked about in my prior post. Great little bike with high quality components and a fantastic, screaming engine.

For you old 125 guys, keep an eye on your brethren Jeff Pape in the +40 class at lorettas. He will be on his 125. Today he won +40 on it at a battle for Ohio round. Killer. I plan on having another little one sometime soon myself.

When did you buy it? I ask Jay about it last year and he was going to keep it. He has another one built for his son with a Varner Motor.

Do you know what jetting spec's it has? I have a 95 CR125 that I restored and have been trying to sell. If it doesn't sell soon I am going to start racing it.

Just found this empty reply- not sure what happened there. I only ran stock carb twice and had a new Pwk installed. My daughter began fighting brain cancer late in 17 and I put the bikes away. She is fighting hard and improving all the time. She wants me to go back to riding and living life. She’s a wise kid.
