So Sad. I remember watching him and his brothers racing Flat Track around the Midwest years ago. Such a good kid.

I'll always remember showing up to Daytona in '92 as a 14 year old with bleached hair and Nicky, in that thick Kentucky accent of his, being all "Your parents let you do that?". You could see the shock on his face, and also the intrigue. Fast forward a few years and he's celebrating on podiums with leopard print hair, haha! I can't help but to think that I helped inspire him to let his freak flag wave back then, hahaha. That's one of my favorite memories of Nicky the person and just wanted to share.
Thats a cool story. Thanks for sharing.

Such a great guy. Very few knew how to dirt track that 250+hp bike around FAST. Beat no less than Valentino freakin' Rossi to the 2006 MotoGP world title. Nobody has bad stories about him.

Absolutely devastating news. An unbelievable talent, a real racer, a fighter, but most of all a very very good man. This is a very sad day for anyone who loves motorcycle racing. RIP Nicky, you were an inspiration to us all

I rode XR100s with him at American Supercamp in McKinley Texas in like, 99 or 2000.

I was so worried about running into him, because he was leading the 600 championship, I believe at the time.

Was a dream come true, he gave me advice on roadracing.


Thoughts and prayers are with the family at this devastating time.

Call me soft but I shed a tear for this guy. Can only imagine the pain his family and close friends are going through. Another life lost too soon. His legacy will live on eternally. Life isn't fair and I can't think of a stronger example than this. R.I.P. Nicky.

It's incredible to see all of the people taking the opportunity to remember Nicky today.
