Why won't Ralph and Jeff tell it like it is?

If those kooks from the Canadian nats were on the call in Vegas that night, that would have been one hell of a show.

That softball delivery of excitement that the 450 main brought to produce one of the best shows ever in SX was the biggest whiff I've seen in awhile. And in the TV world, your last show of the series / season is always the one that gets looked at more than the rest. That would have landed the sport in a bigger light and get the always-needed mainstream attention. 30-40,000 in the stands noticed what's up but a few people in the booth and the TV trucks didn't resulting in hundreds of thousands of people to be left confused and misled? I guess we'll have to wait another 5-7 years till a race like that happens again.....

I have to say I agree. I found the commentary lame, and out of touch with reality...a true example of "fake commentary".
I had to laugh at the end of the race when Dungey started pointing over to Tomac as if to say I know what you were doing there!! And the commentary said something like, "and Dungey gives Tomac the thumbs up, oh and Tomac does it back!" Fake news..

Emig wouldn't explain anything that deep. As far as I can tell he thinks he's the color guy same as Ralf. Bailey went so much farther...

Bailey went so much farther in depth as to why things happen that it makes Jeff look ridiculous. I'm tired of Jeff's constant enthusiasm. Let the color guy be over the top and tell us the details in a calm way that actually makes sense.
Emig is the color commentator .

Art Eckman would have been perfect. He would have confused the riders and who was battling it out. LOL

Guys do you really need someone to tell you Tomac slowed the pace down so far that even Grant got on the box and Reed was up to top 5? The industry is still hanging on to the belief that people that don't ride watch this stuff on tv and tailor the broadcast to this invisible audience. Please be smarter than the broadcast.

TV for Supercross is basically a way for the series to masturbate, for lack of a better term.

Ralph calls are pretty good as a play by play guy but Fro seems scared to get in deep about his own experiences... He's been doing it since 06, it's time to go to another level Fro, we've heard your pods, it's there! Do it!

But I figure at this point, even with social media, we've all just got to suck it up with regards to the TV coverage.

I've seen so many tweets directed at Ralph, Fro, the producers etc... and nothing changes I know it's hard, and they do do a lot very well, but they're missing the mark on a lot of stuff.

Like the quest for the "new fan", dumbing down the sport, telling us about tear offs... It's brutal. I bet the percentage of people getting into MX via TV is sweet FA. I've literally only heard Adam Ciancurulo say it, ever. Not pros, anyone! It's always Dad, Brother, Uncle, PaPa etc...

Even the graphics package sucks balls, so even if they manage to go PiP to cover the action, it's so small you'd need a 60 inch tv up close to see it.

Having said any of that, RC going to the floor was way better, he's much better picking out things at track level than commentary.

How can we get the GP announcers over here? Maybe its the accent, but I find them a lot more entertaining, and they don't yell interruptions 1000 times during a broadcast.

Motocross is so overlooked and underexposed it's painful. Supercross is a stupid 3 hour energy drink commercial. The tracks suck. It's literally painful to watch. Occasionally there is a good race. Can't blame the riders. They are out there killing themselves 7 days a week. Ahh. I miss the 90s. The future blows... UnaFUCKINdilla

If you're not going to announce what is going on on the track then you shouldn't be announcing. Just my opinion but that is ridiculous, you can't just ignore things that are blatantly obvious.
5/10/2017 1:45am
They're both too dumb to know what's going on.
Get Daniel Blair and Steve Matthes in there. With Jason Thomas on the track..
Maybe the true fans would only enjoy this I don't know...

Ralph doesn't tell it like it is because he doesn't know what "it" even is. He's like asking your neighbor that is an annoying, wanna-be-cool, middle school teacher come over and announce in your living room.

Jeff doesn't tell it like it is because, Ralph is screaming in his ear and he seems like he is constantly trying to decide if he should correct him or not.

Ricky doesn't tell it like it is because he may cuss on live TV, and because he's on the floor and can't see over the top of even the shortest berm

They are there to call the race, but to make it sound as exciting as possible. Close racing is exciting, explaining that it is only close because the fastest guy is slowing the pace to try to win the title isn't exciting.

Yeah it is. Telling the public that, allows them to see that these guys are sooo freaking good at what they do, that they can control a race and turn it into something more. Like a chess match or Battleship or some shit.. and still be outclassing the rest of the field. Acting like it is a horse race when it really isn't makes the public not even gain a sense of the racer intellect that is present during a race.

Jockeys in horse races use strategy. It isn't just a sprint either.

RC obviously on the dungey wagon last 2 weeks
Ralph and Jeff talk constantly about team tactics ALL race then CRICKETS when said team tactics get deployed.

RC, Ralph and Jeff constantly tell us how fast dungey is going to reel in Tomac when it was blatantly obvious Eli started draggin anchor to bunch them up. heck, watch him in the corners after the long straight....he literally almost tips over from trying to roll the corner so slow...also the hard pack hairpin. watch those closely....he was very good at taking his time.

racing was great. We are lucky Tomac did something to keep 450's from being a snoozefest.
I had to laugh at the crickets bit, I thought the very same!, it went dead quiet....like I could just imagine them off camera looking at each other like dude...what do we say now?!.

Flat out Tomac should have done the same thing that Osborne did! Hey it was deemed legal obviously! I've said it before if it's only a fine Kawasaki would have been fine with paying it!

RC MC ,JS7 ,RV ,Stanton, Emig ,Reed, Bradshaw, JMB ,Conard and even Dungeys boss Decoster would have done the same!

Only thing Emig is good at is reminiscing about 1997. You don't hear RC talking like that.

No you just hear RC's top notch analysis of "What you want to do.. as the race goes on.. is possibly get a win". Easily worse than Jeff.
