I really hope he races again. That will be a tough one to come back from though.

You're right that he wouldve won the title, but he will be back and in the title hunt.
5/7/2017 2:23pm
Who knows what would have happened but you'd have to guess he would have been in with a good chance at the title. Hopefully he can get back to where he was at, but wrist injuries can be a career extinguisher, lets hope not, the bigger the pool of fast riders the better for us spectators.

If RV didn't retire, he'd still be racing.

Guys like Kenny and Tomac are riding too far on the edge...and it eventually bites them. Better believe Dungey has more speed in him but he knows if he goes any faster the big crash will be not be "if", but "when"....JS7 was the same way. Risk versus reward...

You must first finish to finish first.

The GOAT was one of the very few we'll ever see who could hang it out and stay on 2 wheels. He often seemed to be riding out of control but somehow was able to stay healthy all those years of dominating.

I hope Kenny can come back as I believe his injury has the potential to mentally "slow him down to go faster" if you will. Tomac seems to be getting smarter as well, we'll see if he's able to keep the rubber side down outdoors.

I tend to agree with the riding on the edge opinion. After all, Kenny was doing great but the first race he has to try and track down the champ he went a little over that edge. It's not hard to do. The slightest brain fart at this level can be catastrophic.

Well since he did bust his ass, your statement can never be proven.

Could be right, but lately I've been wondering if that is the case? Maybe Dungey cant, which has obviously worked fine for him over the years either way but maybe that is roughly his max? I believe that is what all the fuss is about with this years title, its not that Tomac won more races. To me people are pissed because who wants to watch a guy get 3rd? When in any sport are you taught to go for 2-4th place? I know he is elite and someone will go nuts on me but I've just never felt like he was Rv, RC, McGrath etc. he does stomp most of the competition but its just in a different way. I will say again that it has obviously worked great for him and he has an Elite career. I know someone smarter than me could probably make one but i would like to see a line chart of the results between the two for the year. Just my opinion but reading all the crazy threads the past few weeks i felt that was the underlying reason most were mad. and the backing dungey up thing, Look at F1 season finale last year Hamilton tried the same thing to Rosberg, didn't work then either unfortunately.

IMO if he didn't crash at A2 he probably would have somewhere down the road. He's had success on that Honda already but he's also crashed out of the win at 50% of the races he did on that thing.

Saw an interview with RC and he was asked if he ever rode orver his head while racing James and he said absolutely and he said James did too. RC said the rule is you do it on the straights and in the turns, not on the jumps or big whoops.RV came up short on a triples 2 times one year and the second time he fractured his leg. The crash Tomac had going down the rutted out downhill in Colorado was bad, his shoulders are permantly messed up. KR was really starting to come into his own. That crash was a shame.Never seen McGrath , RC or Dungey come up short on a triple , one of the reasons they had long careers. Hannah was wild but never reckless. Its a fine line.

You realize he is 4th all time in wins right?

Kenny has such excellent technique and speed that if hadn't crashed he would have won.

Wow. He must be really lucky to be 4th all time and be as slow as he is.

For sure I think Kenny would of been in the hunt for the title, perhaps even won it.

I do disagree he wont be back racing competitively though.....positive thinking and all that Smile

If Dungey had not already won the SX Championship 3x before, do you think he would have won his 4th last night?

I'm not, but somehow I feel like a turd wishing bad on someone saying this...but I agree about him never being a top rider again.
That elbow surgery was radical, and I don't mean rad...

Winning AMA Motocross races? Is he going to be able to cut his own steak in the future?
Some day, maybe I can add this opinion to the long list of things I have been wrong about.

We are not going to see the Roczen we saw at A1 and San Diego untl A1 2019. I am not sure he's ready for A1 2018. Roczen was on gas.

Heads up to the fuck who said Tomac and Roczen ride over there heads -- Roczen's crash was an unique event. It was nothing too radical. Same for Tomac in 2015..... nothing too crazy.

I think people see what they want to see. The Roczen that was on the gas in San Diego was being hounded all race by Dungey and dropped Tomac. The next race Dungey is out front and winning yet the majority of the people keep saying how slow he was all year and he had no chance...yes something changed in Dungey after that race, but not sure why everyone thinks there was no way he was winning the tittle without Roczen dropping out.

THIS. The Tomac we saw in the second half of the season IMO was much faster than Kenny was in the first two rounds. People don't seem to remember Dungey on Roczen's ass the entire race in San Diego, just about matching his speed. Tomac deserves credit for the speed he had late in the season, and Dungey deserves credit for being there all season long.

Ryan won that race...the one that Kenny crashed in...

Then, Eli poured it on and won a few...had his bad-luck...and a week later began his run with Marvin and Ryan running interference on occasion...

But, here's the thing: Ryan WAS ALWAYS IN IT.

Always.

He may have lost some battles; but, he absolutely won the War.

He won more races last year than Eli has in his whole 450 career. But yet he's not the fastest guy? Tell me about that logic.

Well Roczen could only sustain that pace for 2.5 races. His crash made Dungey back off too and Tomac seems to do better when Roczen is out or not 100% so that changed the whole complexion.

Wow...that first paragraph has some big assumptions - before even knowing how his rehab will go in 2017

Totally agree with the 2nd paragraph though

Probably, it seemed like ET3 started winning after Kroc was out of the picture though they (team Kawi) deem that to a different test location which makes sense. Either way the 2017 Sx title chase was one of the best in recent memory. I'm hoping Kroc can come back and regain form in time like ET after his season ending crash (remember it took a year).
