I was wondering the same thing. In the Jeff Stanton MX Files they talked about that finale in '92. Crazy.

Nobody from KTM tried to help Tomac so I'll say Bradshaw.

Check it-

This season was sick. How ever it plays out in Vegas, one thing is for sure.

Even if Dungey wins, people will remember ET3's in human speed just as much, or more so, than Ryan's consistency-

People keep bringing up Bradshaw's brain fart, but the point is, they remember Bradshaw, and how he pretty much had Stanton covered in speed.

Fire away-

I'm going with Tomac. That meltdown Saturday was painful to watch. He was dominating for so many weeks and no one expected that egg on Saturday. Maybe a bad race and still get top 5. But he crashed in the lead and seemed to quit after that.

It's easy to be the hunter. Once he was the man he had a mental breakdown. Flashbacks of Salt Lake City 2013. He will win next week and Dungey will cruise to a 3rd-4th place finish. That's my prediction.

Were Damon's issues in 92 a meltdown, or the result of a bad knee injury suffered at Red Bud less than a week before?

Very comparable when u watch them ride. Both were arguably the fastest guys on the planet at the time and both suddenly looked like mid packers.

The difference is Bradshaws happened at the final round and it cost him the title. Tomacs happened with 1 race to go and he can still win the title with the smallest of stumbles by Dungey

"Coming into Red Bud, Stanton and Bradshaw had each won two 250 nationals each. But Bradshaw crashed at Red Bud and tore his ACL—a complete disaster, considering the SX finale was coming up in Los Angeles the very next weekend!"

Bradshaw. LA was the last race of the series and he had no more chances. One of the greatest riders to never win a 250 SX or MX title.

Least Tomac still has one more chance. Many would think winning 10 of the 17 races would more likely win the title.

No, the records will show Dungey won, and people will remember Tomac choking.

Well considering Bradshaw stayed up the entire race I'd say him. Tomac was in a great position and threw it away, I don't think Bradshaw could have even got himself to a good position that night.

Neither.

I thought it was choking, or as posted somewhere here before, him deliberately tanking for something to do with a contract.

Apples and oranges.

5 rounds into the nationals before the sx final.
Flips over the bars and blows a knee 7 days before in a VERY dirty crash.
I'm always amazed when this "minor detail" gets left out of the story.

Video link starts in the corner before the crash.

Bradshaw was different... He was mentally burned out from racing dirtbikes forever. The grind of racing and riding every second of his life since he was a little kid will take a toll on anybody.

Bold prediction for a guy that hasn't finished worse than 4th since 2014.

Bottom line is that it aint over yet and Tomac could still win it. He is now the underdog long shot but it could happen. Dungey could have problems so you never know.

Jean Michel Bayle finished directly ahead of Bradshaw giving Stanton just enough points for the Championship, both on Team Honda although they hated each other.

Had tomac not had a mechanical(earlier in the year) it wouldn't have mattered. I don't think it was as much a mental block as that track was really hard for him to ride the way he does when he's fast. He's fast when he can over ride the track... this one the technical sections were just biting you in the ass if you tried to over ride em.

Bradshaw had a torn acl or something like that going into the race he got 4th. and he got fuckin 4th.

Both amazing riders. Both deserve shit tons of praise.

Let's not forget, Bradshaw was only 19yrs.old at the time,19! That's alot to deal with at that age. I think ET is 21-22? These guys are JUST starting to mature mentally & physically. What's Dungey,27-28? He allowed the guy who was 2nd in points to gain 30 points on him! If Dungey does close this out, good for him,he deserves it. But,30 points! Come on man!

BTW, Bradshaw has never used the ACL injury as an excuse
