Potential Savatgy Protest?

Yep..cutting the track is a big NO-NO in any form of racing and at any level.

It was crazy how much of the track he cut. He gained a couple positions by getting back on the track where he did. I'm surprised they didn't really talk about what he had done, he literally skipped a whole section of a track.

Definately protest and docked several positions at least.

He really should expect it after that big of cut.

Maybe he'll get the "Monster Energy Mulligan".

I remember Jason Lawrence doing almost the same thing at A1 in 2009 I think. He crashed over a berm and onto the long rhythm section and just remounted and took off from there. He was docked a couple of spots I believe

If he didn't gain positions doing that he definitely prevented himself from losing more. Probably wasn't even that slow of a lap considering he got up pretty quick

He should be docked 5 positions.

Well timing had him in 6th till they refreshed after the cut line so I would say 3-5 positions would be about right. At least 3, no more than 5.

Total rule violation..... but I'll honestly be surprised if they dock him.

If he had not cut the rest of that section and entered where he left I think smith would have finished in front of him.

Yeah I was thinking the same. Savatgy will probably lose a few spots there.

Dock him 7 points so it's tied for Vegas....

i. A rider leaving the course may continue the race by properly re-entering the track at the closest safe point to where the rider left the course without gaining an advantage.
1. While off course the rider may not accelerate in an unsafe manner.
2. If a rider accelerates in an unsafe manner while off course or cuts part of the race course, the rider may be determined to have gained an advantage without gaining a position.
3. It will be the duty of the Race Director or his designee to make the determination as to whether a rider gained an advantage by leaving the racecourse and re-entering.
4. The penalty for gaining an advantage while off course during a race will be the loss of number of positions gained plus one additional position in the final results for that race. If no positions were gained, the penalty will be the loss of one position in the final results for that race.
5. The penalty for gaining an advantage while off course during qualifying will be the loss of the rider’s fastest lap time during that session.

How do you differentiate positions gained vs. time? The time he gained effectively gained him positions I think

Typical motocross coverage, completely ignore any rules violations... might offend somebody.
