Just read the RX interview with Eli. Surprised to see him say what he said about the Honda. Just a Kawi plug on the sly or do you really believe he felt that way about the Honda? Interesting for him to be so adamant that he is better than then.

I think he really left for a reason and it wasn't money.

I think if he didn't really feel that way he wouldn't have switched, and wouldn't have said what he said. Laying in the hospital with two destroyed shoulders he probably decided he needed to make a change and honestly what team wasn't calling him after those rides? I think there was also talk of how he didn't like the bike that whole year.

Jason Weigandt - "Yes, but bottom line is, people remember you going really fast on that bike, and then you switched."

Eli Tomac - "Yeah, but it put me on the ground a lot. I was sick of it."

If I remember correctly then I think Eli signed contract before that crash.

Sounds like he found the feel he was looking for without sacrificing the stability the Kawasaki is known for.

So, maybe in two years, we'll get:

Jason Weigandt - "Yes, but bottom line is, people remember you struggling thru Round 3 A2, and then you switched."

Eli Tomac - "Yeah, but I couldn't talk about it. I was sick of it. Here's what we changed..."

He didn't like it, nor did Trey or Barcia

I call BS. He may have hit the deck a few times but I'm not sure the bike is to blame. I definitely believe he was sick of crashing though. Weimer contributed in SX and I had a front row view (standing track side on the downhill) of his crash at Thunder Valley. There was an outside line and inside line that 39 other guys were using. He was the only one going outside to in down that hill. He was cutting across the bumps on a rutted off camber at other worldly speed. The rear started skating on him. Shit happens. If he was tucking front ends on the Honda, I'd be more inclined to blame the bike.

I think he made the decision how his dad said he did. Looked at the teams. Looked at the bikes. Had heated discussions about all of it with John and made his choice based on the best fit not the $. The Eli interview confirms it to me. I just didn't expect him to express that kind of straight forward opinion on the Honda. Not because it isn't true but because he is private typically.

Given he is on Kawasaki hes unlikely to praise it....didnt Barcia and Trey have their best SX results that season? Certainly since then they havent?? I am not stating this as fact...its a question.

Right about the first part no doubt and Roczen is going to say the Honda is the best. I get that. I question if the Honda really has a flaw that these riders allude to. I have no clue. I'll never take one to the limits that they do. It isn't like Eli to say something that he doesn't mean.

Because its never the bikes fault for the rear end swapping and not staying stable? Tomac isnt one to talk much so if he opens up and says he didnt like the bike, i take that as he did not like the bike.

It didn't swap. It skated out on him. He was cutting across braking bumps and ruts while pinned down an offcamber hill. It's not the bike's fault physics exists.

It's very possible he has talent that exceeds the capabilities of a bike, and therefore felt like the bike was to blame, but what he was trying to do there was something that any bike would have reacted similarly. Like I said, if the front was tucking, then I'd believe the bike characteristics were involved.

given they didnt like it. which bike were they best on? of course they wont take the blame and turn it on the bike.

tomac is paid by kawasaki of course hes going to say that. it might have been a bike issue he was having but if it was so bad how did he beat the field with a bike that puts him on the ground.

im interested to see what he can do with that green turd in the outdoors. if he beat them that bad with a bike he was unhappy with, the other riders might aswell not show up

i'll take eli's word for it. specially when hes not known for making wild claims or burning bridges. if he didn't like it...he didn't like it. no reason to say anything otherwise. hes a pretty straight shooter.

No reason? Like kawasaki pay him? Sure he wouldn't have said that if williamson(care chief) wasn't hovering when he was asked the question. Williamson even butted in. Of course he's gonna speak up when his boss says something

He did lose the front a bunch of times in supercross his first 2 years on the honda. Of course that happened in Dallas this year too, for one reason or another.

I haven't been a fan of any of the 3 Honda 450's I've had. My 450's were to nervous for me and i could never get comfortable cornering with them. I'm not paid to say that either.... I did love my 06 cr250 though. Miss that bike.
I feel being a taller rider that both the YZ and KX are light yrs better for me. Maybe Eli likes a more stable bike. I think the KX has a way better feel at higher speeds.

Opinion noted but this discussion is about a professional that has a big influence on opinions stating somethin to be incorrect becasue unless he goes out in hangtown and beats the stage by 3 plus minutes that comment he made about the honda is invalid

what would have made this all better is the fact that if kenny was here tomac wouldn't be of any discussion. Roczen would been all the discussion. And tomac woulda been about arm pump. And his keys to sx about arm pump.

honda fanboy detected. geeze. let it rest. tomac gave his opinion. nothing more or less. He rarely does this so i tend to believe him til he leads me to doubt his motives.

and to think eli wouldn't hang with roczen is laughable. pretty obvious tomac was not up to speed the first 3-4 rounds.

once temps kick in this summer and eli comfortable on his bike...woulda been some good close mx between the 2 of them.

Im going with this too. Eli has always been logical, at least from what Ive seen and interpreted. In other words, if he says something, then its probably legitimate. There has been no reason to believe otherwise.

and for the record. roczen doesn't have a very good record on that bike as he has taken 2 big diggers on it in about 5 races (monster 2nd moto) and of course his big hit this sx season. He is damn fast on it but its bit him couple times already. could be bike...could be kenny. we will never know.

Tomac fanboy noted. Just dont think its a thing to be taking jabs at something just cause your on a different color. Growth of the sport is what everyone should have at. When tomacs opinion should be taken seriously is when he starts taking blame for mistakes(which he has) and blaming the bike when it's the bikes fault(when he hasnt and if he has please disclose what magic they found to make his arms not pump up? Mathes even said they told him but he wasn't aloud to say). But I bet we will never see that. He still is paid by Kwai so a jab at Honda shouldn't be taken to seriously. until he retires and can come forth with the truth

I've heard that Honda gives them settings to run, not so much letting the rider set the bike up. I mean I'm sure they let them get it to their liking, but more so here's the settings you can win with this here you go.

Where would you hear somethin like this? Figure it would be something more geared towards Kawi? With them winning so much I remember hearing on pulp and reading that tomac was given rv setting and that to not go to far from his setup? Didn't tomac take a suspension guy with him and him leave because of that?
