What are the best/most trusted places in the country to do suspension work?

Are there some to stay away from?

I need work done on my CRF with air forks. Im going to have the shock resprung/revalved also.

Im curious what companies will be doing spring conversions also and who are the best places to deal with or stay away from.

Don't overlook what is in my opinion the most important factor which is, who is local to you and willing to fine tune it after they set it up? Some of the top name companies in the world do great work but their setting for a (insert any size and ability rider here) is nothing more than a generic ballpark. It might be exactly what you want and it might not. Having someone who is at your local track that will tweak/tune/revalve it for you, trumps it all in my opinion.

Yeah I get that too but I don't have any local places that do a spring conversion either. My local suspension shop is closing down and shifting work to another shop due to basically retiring.

Im curious who the best in the country are.

Factory connection is probably the most recommended on here. Pro circuit, rg3, racetech, etc.. all those guys will set you up good.

I've had great results with MB1 on Hondas. Factory connection as well.
Factory connection beats mb1 on the customer service side of things.

Race Tech. Customer service is killer. Product is killer. Always there to help fine tune. I quit trying out different shops years ago and have used them exclusively for years now. The only way i would not use them is if i wanted full on suspension done, like a kit stuff. Then, I would use Enzo if Race Tech was backed up.

Aside from that, how many suspension threads get started on here? How many shops chime in with tips and viewpoints? Ive only seen Chris with Race Tech chime in.

My backyard, just picked up a new ball peen to free up them stuck bolts. Way cheaper than the other guys

FCR! I know for a fact they are the real deal... I sent my mechanic to their suspension school a few weeks ago to learn how to keep our bikes serviced and to do some local guys servicing. Well I sent our YZ125 stuff to have redone by FCR to match 5 other bikes we have their stuff on. Anyway, come to find out the rear wasn't even serviced, fluid was dirty and some bad parts. MY GUY tore it down and drained the nasty fluid.... Fronts were done properly. Bike had maybe 10hrs MAX on it. All they did was change the rear spring slap a sticker on and charge for a complete job. I will not call the name of the company, it has been mentioned in this thread only because it has been a couple of years since having it done.

They can all make mistakes, but this incident has really taught me a lesson.....

One of the big boys screwed me, sent suspension from our YZ125 to them to have set up for my son. The fronts were done properly. The rear had a shock change and that is it...

Not sure why you can't read it, obviously others can as I got a pm already...

JP Speed in Davisburg. Probably 30 minutes from you.

He has lots of experience with the Honda air fork as he raced it on his personal bike a few years back.

He's been doing my stuff for 10 years now and I haven't had a single bad experience and its all been spot on the 1st try as well.

The overwhelming recommendation of factory connection helped make my decision on my crf450. I got forks revalved and shock revalved/spring. I am very happy with it, better performance in every area of the track. 16 crf450 moto 210lbs mid pack C

I've had success with Race Tech. Excellent service, quick turn-around, and more than satisfied with thier work. I also have a Race Tech shock on my 110 pitbike that I love.

I do rely on a local guy occasionally for basic service and I really like the convienece of drop-off/pick-up 10min from home or having him make minor changes at the track.

If you don't have anybody local that is experienced with the spring conversion and/or the set-up you're looking for, I'd call Race Tech.

I think now a days it really depends on what suspenders your scoot is running. For me with KTM stuff I like MX1 suspension but overall I've never heard a single bad thing about Enzo.

Factory Connection is the way to go.

Customer service and they know Hondas. Plus in the rare occasion you are not happy they will work on it till you are.

Totalcontrolsuspension.com IG is @totalcontrolracing Chad is a great guy, never had a bad set up from him. His shop is like an operating room, you can eat off the floor. He has been in business a very long time and when you call for set up tips you talk to the man himself, not a secretary or some high school kid.

Get the shock spring first, set the sag, set the air close and play with it a little. Ride a few weeks now that the bike is in the stroke where it belongs. You can decide how it is at that point and if/where it needs to be stiffer, or less harsh, or hook up better, etc. Then find a good suspension guy that will come out and watch you ride it. Let him tell you what it is doing wrong and see if it matches what you are feeling. If he cant, try another. You can not be willing to beleive that these shops have tested your bike with your weight and skill level on it enough to know what direction they need to go on low speed vs high speed and rebound shim settings. They have a general idea yes, but the more closely you can work with them the better. Get your $800 worth.

Ok.. so the forks were done correctly and the "rear had a shock change". So they gave you a new shock? A different shock?
