Sparks?

Sorry if I've missed this being discussed prior but did anyone see the sparks that were visible when some of the bikes were landing the small double after the mechanics area in Minneapolis? It was more noticeable in the early portion of the 450 main and seemed to go away later. Track debris?

Just curious.

Ti footpegs and rocks make sparks. I saw it in a few places last weekend.

I noticed that too. I have also noticed what appears to be smoke coming from the engine (not exhaust) of Tomac's bike for several rounds of SX and they finally mentioned it in the broadcast last weekend.

I noticed that too. I have also noticed what appears to be smoke coming from the engine (not exhaust) of Tomac's bike for several rounds of SX and they finally mentioned it in the broadcast last weekend.
Glad I'm not the only one. I wondered why they haven't mentioned it yet. Any mechanics here care to speculate on what they could have changed that's making it do this? I think it has to be intentional at this point given its doing it every time.

Noticed it too. A2 on the triple after the whoops consistently, Oakland coming out of the rut to the finish line jump, and again this weekend.

I seen them on ET3 bike like next to the last lap. Rewound it 3 times to make sure I seen sparks not roost. Pegs make sense. Glad I wasnt the only one that seen them.

Milsapps bike did it off the triple triple section...right before the plywood triple.

The tracks are a joke. Shitty dirt and not enough of it.

If the concept of track break down was still up in the air for some people, I believe we have some tangible proof. Have there been sparks in previous years (before going to time length change, and not including all the Freise incidents) but it just wasnt noticed?

ah so thats was Tomac is faster and explains the smoke out the the exhaust, he is using fireworks (i.e. small rockets) in his exhaust to make him faster !! Got it !! Smile

I've been seeing sparks for years. Thank you HD TV.

I was assuming it's coming from the rear suspension/linkage and/or how the chain is affected by the suspension bottoming out. It seems to usually happen on hard landings and deceleration.

sparks can come from the braking rotor also if the rotor and pads get hot and if the run some harder material on the braking pads. look at throphy trucks the use steel brake pads and its just flying sparks everywhere when they brake hard.

Tomac's bike smoking. It looks like blue smoke entering the corner, and steam exiting the corner.
