Ok I have to bring it up. And don't act like nobody is thinking the same thing. Ha! I know it is way too early, but let's say Tomac does well on the Kawi and gets one championship this year. Or two! Maybe it might be fair to say he seriously considers staying green? I doubt $$ will be an issue for Kawi if they have to beat out anyone like KTM or RCH.

It's a no brainer that the 5 is done after 17. KTM has money to get Eli. I expect him to go there regardless of his success at Kawi.

Remember last year how there was talk that the team was resistant to change the bike how he wanted?

Was the RVs way or the highway thing still in place until last week when they made changes or has it been better?

Is there a backstory to these assumptions regarding KTM specifically? I mean, it all makes sense but seems there may be some missing context to this conversation. Something he said in an interview?

Everybody thinks KTM is the team to be on because they made a huge push recently and bought a lot of top riders. No disrespect to them. The bikes have come a long, long, way. This is only my opinion, of course. The other bikes are great as well and the factory teams have been at the top level for decades so it's the only assumption I can draw.

I just wonder if Tomac does have better success like the last two races, he might thinking about not wanting to start all over again with a new bike and team. Granted he is happy of course. Seemed like it last night. I am sure having 94 out helps. Smile

He wins races and titles on Monster Energy Kawasaki, he stays.

Yep! I would say he only leaves if he can't win on it!

I think the whole ET to KTM theory is a tinfoil hat users pipe dream.

I think it is way to early to speculate on that, but if he gets 2 titles I have a hard time seeing Kawi just letting him get away.

Monster wouldn't let Kawasaki let Tomac go!

Monster won both classes 2 weeks in a row, the party must have been big

If KTM wants someone it will be Cooper Webb.

I think it's pretty obvious. If he wins he's leaving. If he loses he staying. Who knows and who cares? Let's enjoy what happened last night and hope he continues to challenge Dungey. Last night was awesome. Watched every race for the first time in a while.

Depends on which team can offer the largest salary. Not sure if that's Monster Kawasaki, HRC or KTM....? Would be cool to see Kenny and Eli on Hondas, like the Johnson and Bailey era.

It won't be HRC.

If he wins he stays. If he doesn't then he goes. KTM has the money and racing program to get anyone they want. Maybe RCH pulls off another coup and gets Eli. Maybe JGR goes all out as a last ditch effort to get a top rider. Yamaha and Honda look full so doubt those would be options. KTM, RCH, JGR could have potential openings and the dollars.

He touched on it last night. Vague but interesting:

In my opinion Dungey wins on KTM because he's Dungey...not necessarily because the bike or team dynamics are all that. Tomac will win or lose races because he's Tomac...not because of the Kawasaki 450 or because he's on a "lesser" team.

First three races he ran Kawi works triple clamps, the last two races (which he's won) he's used X-trig triple clamps and the forks look like they're slid all the way up to the bars.. Whatever it is it's working, but I think it's a bandaid to a bike he doesn't like.
I wouldn't be surprised if a sweet deal came around for outdoor and he jumped ship from Kawasaki..

It's getting close to decision time, I heard he signed with kawi half way through the SX series in 2015. I wonder if he would be sceptical of switching, being that his adjustment to the Kawi took some time.
It will also be interesting to see if he works with Aldon if he does go to KTM, his Father is great but riding with 2 other riders capable of winning has to be a huge advantage. Gonna be interesting to see, Dungey's decision to continue racing or not is gonna weigh in on the matter also. Big Tomac fan, so I just hope he keeps winning, Tomac in the zone is a amazing thing to watch.
