Currently an engine builder at Roush Yates engines but I'm starting my new job in 2 weeks I missed TN so I'm going back home to be a dyno tuner for a local performance shop

Posted in the other thread like this one.... I run my family business. CNC machining. We work mainly with Siemens power and transmission division and HolMac fluid dynamics. I have a side business within the business making custom bicycle components for select riders around the globe. Work a lot with ceramics and hybrid alloys in the bike stuff.

I work in engineering consulting can't say I thought I'd be here with a degree in forest ecosystem science haha.

Thinking about maybe going for a wild land firefighting position, kind of hesitant but I feel like I'll regret it if I don't try.

I just graduated with a mechanical engineering degree. I rattled out a 3.81 gpa while working as a cook and occasionally racing expert off road. I'm currently looking for a job in the engineering field. My last two interviews were at Honda and Husqvarna, however they were for lawn equipment. I turned one down and got turned down by the other. I also work for my dad with his small business cookseycrank.com. Any job search advice or leads would be appreciated more than you can imagine. I will repay you with a free crank rebuild and some good cooking!

Sorry for the selfless promotion, the discouraging job search is causing for desperate measures.

Congradulations on the degree with the excellent gpa. Is there any specific industry you are looking to get involved in? If not, pipeline engineering may be worth looking into. Transcanada (current employer) is a great place to work and with Keyston XL getting passed I'm sure they will be gearing up in the engineering department soon.

Congrats on the degree. Do you have any industry experience? Also, if you don't mind me asking why did you turn down the lawn equipment job? What's your passion? I might have a lead for you.

Do the pads have to be rebuilt after each launch? I can't imagine what the temperature is at takeoff. Then throw in the total weight of the ship.. How deep are the launch pads?

Tool & Die Maker for Whirlpool. If you own a Whirlpool or Kenmore dryer and possibly a Maytag dryer it was built where I work. We start with raw coils of steel and ship finished products out the other end of the plant. Also do all injection molding in house. We bang out about 20,000 dryers a day.

Up until recently I was an accessory developer for one of the Japanese OEMs. It was a cool gig; I got to travel pretty regularly and felt like I made a difference. Now I'm between jobs and looking to pivot to something that pays a living wage. We'll see.

IT Manager, Healthcare. Pays the bills, but Healthcare is pretty stressful with all of the diminishing reimbursements. What once was a stable industry is now a mess.

General and finish woodworking contractor in good ol socal. I’ve done a few popular restaurants around here. A lot of high end kitchens as well as Rick Springfields sound studio. It’s definitely a roller coaster of highs and lows but all in all I take pride in what I do.

Been a lawyer for 8 years, just quit to move to Singapore to do a fulltime MBA. It feels like a worthwhile investment for the future both career wise and $$$. I hope to start my own business or get a good managing position after the degree.

Journeyman Tool and Die Maker by trade. Machined/designed/built a lot of Ford eco boost dies and Chrysler dies. Now work for BP at a refinery as a machinist specialist repairing pumps,compressors,turbines and blowers
