Who really cares. The only things arrogance gets you is a huge slice of humble pie or the right to back it all up. Too much mouth today period, especially in contemporary sports. Let them talk. Let them battle. Let the fight. Let them talk some more. Who really cares?

I'm missing something. There are always cocky yoo hoos. You either back it up or you eat humble pie. That's all I was saying. Some are going to be arrogant. Nothing I can do to change it. If it were me, I'd try to be honest yet humble. That way I'd never have to look like a fool whenever I don't back that bs up. I don't like arrogance. If you do, revel in it because with contemporary athletes, it's rampant.

What does Kenny have that Ryan doesn't? He'll show his supreme confidence publicly. Smile

Three less 450 SX titles, and one less 450 MX title.

Well if that's the case then give him a fecking chance to prove it instead of critising him when it's the off season!! he can't back it up until the racing starts can he? If he doesn't then have a go at him if that's what rocks your boat Smile

I'm actually thinking about starting a forum for bears. Just having some start up issues finding keyboards bears won't eat.

I can't believe it triggers you guys so much that a top contender believes he is better than his main competition.

It'd be more concerning if he didn't have this mindset.

A hot, supportive wife, oh no that's RD
A reputation as a humble champion, oh no that's RD
A dad that knows when to stay in the background, oh no that's RD (Kenny also I guess after he sent him back to Germany)
Hmm, guess I can't really think of anything Roczen has the Dungey doesn't
Wow... Nailed it. Why couldn't I have said that.

Yeah, but if you don't have at least a certain percentage of that built in when you go to the line, why are you there? No one is in this because they want to be beaten.

Dungey also has 31 consecutive podiums in SX too, so he's got that going for him, you know, which is nice....anyone get that reference, anyone?

Dude. Get off my back. I never mentioned Kenny. Yes the thread is about Kenny and Ryan, but I'm only commenting on arrogant comments by whomever. I didn't even consider Kenny's comments to be all that abrasive when I compare them to other athletes that really are over the top.

Did I make myself clear this time?

Damn. I whole heartedly agree. I just don't like all the public display of chest thumping. A great athlete will more than likely not be great without supreme confidence. That isn't at all what I'm implying. I just don't care for it being expressed.

I wasn't really referring to Kenny. His comments were sedate compared to many other contemporary athletes. I hope Ryan feels the same regarding his ability compared to Kenny. I only like the fact he doesn't feel the need to express those thoughts publicly.

The problem isn't that he believes he's the best. It's that he repeatedly insults everyone else, including Dungey, who has beaten him three years in a row.

Let me add this comment regarding public arrogance and I'll stop. I'm a fan of Cooper Webb. Mainly because he was raised 100 miles from me. I wish however that he would tone down some of the comments.

I'll even admit that I'm in the minority with this mentality. Everyone these days seems to love drama and brash behavior. I don't.

Ok, yeah. Crystal clear. I guess I see it as vital to success you don't, all good. Unfortunately (for you?) it's prevalent at all forms of all sports at the elite level.

One thing I noticed from that show, After his crash at the Monster cup Kenny was concerned about looking like a fool.. A truly self confident person wouldn't care what other people thought of them

Arrogance is prevalent in the human condition unfortunately. I don't believe it's necessary to be successful. A person can be confident in their ability and rightfully so, and never brag or boast. I've seen this up close. A good friend of mine is a pool hustler. The best I've seen. Not just in the skills needed to make the shots, but in the craft. Sometimes, it's better to go about the business of kicking everybody's butt quietly. Yeah, Ken might have a lot of things Dungey lacks. Subtlety, modesty and craft I don't believe, are on the list.
