2008 slapped them in the face, but not me. I capitalized, now I make even more than them and they get it. They think I am some sort of genius. Only thing I didn't do was over leverage, not really genius in my book just common sense.
But the best part is now, knowing what they know and seeing how it worked out for me, and how it worked out for them (lost houses, bankruptcies, divorces, repos) they are right back doing the same thing they were before
70k trucks financed, 120k boats financed, 300-400k houses financed to the hilt.
I can't wait to buy all that stuff again for pennies on the dollar
People wonder why the rich get richer in bad economies? We buy all the "ballers" stuff!
What do you do and what did you study??
I got my house and 6 acres of my 30 acres on a 15 year mortgage, 12 years left, I owe less than half of the appraised value. The other 24 acres I own outright, but I took out a loan on the duramax and the toyhauler to buy them. So its not as bad of debt as it looks like. I own all my moto stuff and my tractor is paid for also.
Not too bad imo
Pit Row
Only problem is homes in Sydney are 1mil plus
A quick word on "baller living". In no way shape or form does having anything nice actually affect the true happiness of an individual.. I know people with everything that are unhappy, and I know people with nothing that are unhappy. It simply isn't part of the equation (when you're speaking big picture). For me, if I couldn't drive these vehicles, I'd buy a video game and like to think I'd still be just as happy admiring them from a distance. Health and relationships are the true measures of success and wealth in life, at least in my mind.
Alright... done being the sentimental douchey type!! haha
Cheers.
And you're in a select group if you can leave the city and earn decent dollars where it's cheaper to live.
So he hasn't quite "earnt" everything in the picture yet. But I am very sure he is working hard to reach that goal and has obviously had the required fiscal responsibility to save up over 100k to put down on the house. Not many 20 somethings can do that. Most will get a dollar and spend two. Or three.
Because he was ambitious enough to bet on himself with a college education doesn't mean your owed anything though. That is a very bad mindset.
I say this so you can just keep that in mind in case god forbid you ever lose your job down the road and you miss a few payments on your future house. You will find out real quick what has been "earnt" and what hasn't.
It was upsetting to see my friends go down the way they did in the crash. But they are going right back down the same road again as far as I can tell.
Bottom line live conservatively.
I bet JS7 right now is thinking about how he has spent money over the years and wishing he has made some different choices.
On the flip side you only live once

Not a baller by any means, but life's good! Some of you guys are killing it though.
The majority of the people here are most likely "upper middle class." This provides some of the dollars that make the economy go.
The possessions of some here (again a small cross section of society) is hardly representative of the economy as a whole or the current tax situation in the country.
