Chinese KTM cloned suspension on a Chinese cloned dirt bike...just think what Jody would say.

My Chinese made pit bike (Piranha 140r) is going on 60 hours of hard use with only minimal chassis issues (rear wheel and shock). Maybe they are closing the gap?

Good for about 30hp and a 9k rpm ceiling

I am absolutly sure that the bike is better than most will expect it to be. Just having modern KTM geometry puts them at a huge advantage.

I can't see people pulling up to the gate with it at a track but as a back yard/farm/ fun bike they would probably do ok for a year or two then end up on cragslist with KTM graphics being sold for $5500.

They copied everything else, might as well throw a 5 on it too.

The problem is the geometry is inconsistent, lol. Head angle gets .2 deg slacker with each big jump. Pretty good concept though. Bike is sweet for tight SX tracks early in the season and auto-adjusts for fast outdoor tracks later on.

OT, I dont know what country it was from, but my buddy had a Lifan GS250 so obviously still super off brand. That thing could survive a meteor strike and had a much better ride than any Jap street 250 I've been on.
However, I wouldn't trust my life to a copycat off brander when it comes to MX.
Lifan is not super off brand. They are one of the largest motorcycle engine manufacturers in the world.

Also not really getting how it had a better ride than any Japanese street 250 given all their designs are basically re-hashed vintage 70s-80s era Japanese motorcycles with cheaper components.

I've had that stuff that's called "Chinese vodka" that isn't vodka, supposedly made from sorghum or rice instead of potatoes. Maybe it was a good brand, but it could have fooled me for good vodka and had a good kick to it. Don't think they were originally trying to clone anything, it's a big traditional liquor there, but it had to be called something in English so it's named after what it reminds you of.

Frame is pretty visually different to a KTM, beyond the superficial resemblance. I doubt the geometry is the same.
In fact, I wouldn't be 100% sure the geometry was the same bike to bike in the KEWS line.

Many Chinese companies' focus is more on building a product that "looks similar" to the one copied than one that "functions similar". And I'm talking often about companies that are can opener cloners (and "reputable" Chinese manufacturing firms), not pieces as complex, specific in R&D and as fickle in customer base as MXers.

They have the fork guard type that had the brake line going under the forks, then to the caliper. This is just a hodge-podge of shit.

It's a good thing they can't read English or they would be making 300 cc two strokes in a KTM frame with SSS forks.

Its little shit like that that the Chinese totally miss.
I bought a Chinese made pit bike this year... It runs good, and has disk brakes, but the rear disk has a huge rotor and caliper, while the front one is tiny. And they didn't route the brake lines very well.
They just totally miss things like that sometimes.

In addition to screwing up details, the metallurgy is really their hugest miss, and the bikes will continue to scare people away as long as that is a problem, regardless of which badass design they are copying.

I think they mistake anodizing for proper metallurgy.....They anodize every single part they can which hooks the Coors light/Nascar crowd.........

Few years ago there was a Chinese factory team in the GP's. A dirtbike manufacture called Shineray.
It turned out their riders were on Honda's/KTM's because they were not able to ride on their Shineray's!

Jincheng was in Dakar for a number of years, usually on a Yamaha, for obvious reasons. Shineray (chongqing) would be in a similar boat: they don't even make an actual MXer.

Dude these things are junk! I work as a mechanic at a Honda shop and the poor suckers that buy these bikes are screwed when they start to break, nothing and I mean nothing interchanges with them except inner tubes not even valve stems, I don't mind sending away cheap parents that didn't want to spend the money on a Honda XR but it hurts me when I have to turn away young kids who just wanna ride their dirt bikes, our shop won't go near them, plus as I said earlier no parts are available

Yeah, I went to a Kawasaki dealer and they had no Honda parts available. I think we should avoid Honda until parts are available.

We got one of these 3 years ago with the agreement we would send them back R&D type info on it. The very first race the coil melted as it was mounted against the engine. $5 later we were back in business. 3 years later the bikes still never had an oil change, and gets loaned out to everyone when their bike breaks. They've missed all the details, and taken short cuts. But to this day it has only failed us once.
