Any update on Jessy Nelson?

Damn! Hoping for the best for Jessy. I Broke T6, T10, and L2, among other things, in January. L2 being the worst. Lost all feeling waist down for a while, but it came back. Had 360 spinal fusion on L2. Full motor recovery, thank God.Still have some sensory issues, but I'll take them. Hope he has similar or better recovery. I'm living proof that it can.

Like Jeffro said let's just hope it's shock.. I couldn't move anything when I first got to hospital and remember Febvre had the same feelings after his crash at Matterly

Think of the cord in a cross section. Kind of like a pie cut into sections. Those different sections are responsible for motor functions for certain parts of the body and other pieces are for sensations for designated areas. So one part could be comprimised, with something like a disc bulging on the anterior portion of the cord that provides sensation but doesnt affect a posterior part that may be responsible for motor function. So, you could have little to no sensation but since the other side is not affected, you could still have motor function, and vice versa. Complete severing can obviously stop both. Important assessments that I am sure the crew is good at.

Im not sure but I think I saw him lift his head off the ground a couple of times. I hope that is not actually what I saw but something else. Hard to see much detail.

My doctor used the phone line metaphor (which is way more general and has way less information than yours haha) where the spinal cord is the main line supplying all the service and if it gets cut partly (incomplete) then some phone lines would be unaffected yet some would be down..
A chair mate of mine actually has almost full feeling below his injury level but has even less hands than me (he's C5-6 I'm C7)

I wonder if his hand slipped off and if it had anything to do with his prosthetic thumb that he wears... Really hoping for the best news possible for him

When i did mine I was neck down for almost 2 days but had no displacement which is I'm sure what JN has since surgery.

If he had feeling then didn't I'd think it was still hooked up but swelled.

Good info here. Here's hoping and praying Jesse will regain sensory and motor ability once swelling subsides.

Hate to see these posts about any rider. Prayers sent for a complete recovery Jesse!

The rider that stopped and helped him is awesome! Great to see good people in action these days!

Not at all. Now that it has been pointed out, you can clearly see that he clips the yellow barrier on the inside of the corner and is ripped off the bike. Everyone would have gone down in that situation.

In the second Moto at Unadilla, I had a crash in a tricky turn, ultimately ending with a red flag for the race. I went down pretty hard of a direct result of the bike hitting me from behind. I am currently at a hospital in Cooperstown, NY where we are waiting for some swelling to go down in my back before doing surgery. At this time I have limited feeling from my waist down. The hope is that after the swelling goes down, I will get some more feeling back. Thank you all for your support, kind thoughts and prayers. I will keep you posted in the next few days!
