It is definitely AHRMA-Sportsman class era even if post '74 model year based on the '73-style shock design.

I'm thinking it's a '72-73 400CR...probably '73 if the forks & that front fender is stock.

Heck, that tank is worth $300.

My dad had a 76' wr 250, tank was red, I thought all 250's had red tanks from that era, but I was a kid. His buddies 360 had a maroon tank.

I would check the stator plate mounting screws before starting, they were notorious for coming loose and cracking the stator or worse, the stator mounting pods, which were part of the case would break.

I put 2 new spark plugs in it today and pulled the air filter, boy was it clean. I was shocked.

Probably just called for motor oil, but I'd use Type F ATF, till it comes out the weep-hole with the bike level.

Check those vin numbers.
That bike might be a CR400.... or maybe a WR400 desert racer.
Your bike has a larger fuel tank than the typical CR MX models..

AMSRacing.com probably has air filters in stock and John at Vintage Husky has everything.

I've always wanted a nice Husky Mag 250. Liberal application of magnesium and aluminum had the weight down pretty decent back then at 214 lbs. Nowhere near as light as the Ossa Phantom which weighed in at 197 lbs. I want one of them too...Smile And a 77 AW400 Maico.

Well I cleaned the carb out, put it back together and rode it around the yard today. The clutch is not working to good, I don't know if it will work better after a few rides or not. All the gears work so it was a good day.
