It would be one thing if RR was the only ex-pro, or close to it, but that class is stacked with former pros like Byrne, Stroupe etc. He is almost 40 but he is racing in class almost 15 years his junior and on a 125 ( or whatever size). Cool story and fun to follow.

Correct me if Im wrong, but didn't this topic get addressed and it was determined that the other vet age classes were off limits? Like they could only ride 25+ and Pro-Am or something like that.
Exactly my point! The guy is almost 40! It's not like he's the young, retired pro showing up in +40. He's riding a 125 against dudes almost 15 years younger, on open bikes (although LL is by no means a HP track). YES, there is a difference, former pro or not the dude is getting old (sorry RR). Kudos, RR, keep doing what you do!

If you look at the ate classes, they have "Sportsman" classes (+30 is one IIRC). Those are for anyone who has never scored a professional point.

Back in the day you had to be pro by 16 if you were going to have a chance.
Few years back it was 12! Sad to say now you gotta be serious about your career prior to 12 years old! Who the fuck cares who races a +25 class anywhere in the world?

The Moto community is so small now , some were slow , some where fast , it all comes back full circle , gates aren't stacked like in RR's days and he looks at millenials like little pussies who can't even pick their bikes up out of the mud , straight up waxes everyone on a 125 because he can

Having said that , if he beats austin on a 125? That'll be the final nail for stroupy I fear

That's worse than calling yourself a pro and having stankdog pass you at a NAT IMO hahaha

A mid level (skill) rider shouldn't be at LL. It's that simple.

Whats so funny about this is 1. hes almost 40, 2. hes riding a class designated 15 years his junior, 3. he handicapped himself with a 125, 4. hes still winning it, 5. theres people who still bitch about 15 year ex pro riding LL's....

i mean if you're gonna complain about that, you seriously need to go look for a another sport.

As a guy that just moved up to +25 this year and didnt make LL, I see no issues with any of them being n the class. I didnt know that because you had a pro license that as soon as you retire from professional racing that you should no longer be allowed to race a dirt bike? Some of you need to stop whining about this class. Its a fun class and they are out to have fun. Simple as that. Sure it would be cool if they had an EX PRO class, but they dont, and this is a class they are allowed to race. No issues, just go faster and you wont have to worry.

What's awesome about the Reynard story is that his dad, Robert, is still very much involved. I bet that Robert is at the Ranch this week wrenching for Robbie (maybe someone can get a pic of the two on the line?). In a sport where family relationships sometimes go south, it's refreshing to see the two continuing to make life long memories.

So much win with Reynard having success at LL, the fact thats he's on a 125 makes it even sweeter.

I don't agree with this at all. If you sign up for +25 , you know damn well who may show up. And what "prospects" are you talking about , in the +25 class? There isn't any....any where.

There are a lot of retired pro's out there that still love this sport , and want to race against guys their same age. Where would you put Robbie? In the 250 A class , against 16yr olds? What class is available right now that you would feel comfortable putting him in?
I'm talking prospects to watch in other classes. Some dude was complaining that it would be like watching your "average weekend race" or something.

So the amateur "national champion" in an age category should be a lot slower than someone his same age? RR17 is almost 40 and winning +25 on a bike 1/4 the displacement of his competition. If this somehow annoys you or you think it's "wrong" you're just bitter. At the end of the day it is for a title, fastest guy wins. And just to be clear, this is coming from someone who would love to mix it up for a title there, but I'll never beat a lot of those guys. Best I can claim is 6th OA in 2010 in +30.

For anyone that hasn't seen Robbie ride........You should try to do it before you die Smile ......I've personally never witnessed anyone that rides like him......He's so smooth it looks like he's out for a trail ride as he's flying by guys....like Windham but with more injuries. His performance should not be a surprise to people that have seen him moto lately....he rides like butter.. big fan here.

Simply can't believe anyone would bitch about this. The sport is lucky to have guys like Robbie and his dad in it. The guy is just doing what he loves to do and he's still one of the best in the world at it. If somebody doesn't get a trophy because Robbie beat them, then I'd think they'd still be proud to have the experience and the story of sharing the track with one of the sports all time most talented riders.

I agree to a certain extent. As stated above, it is cool to see some of these past heroes mixing it up with each other. I think they need some new classes. I was looking at +25, +30, +40, +45, and +50. All of them are STACKED!!! I was thinking where a mid level (skill) rider like myself would fit in, and there is not a good spot. I saw a local series had a +40B class with 2 skill level divisionsSmile Most of us would just like to run a timed practice and then take ourselves and everybody slower than us to one class and push all the faster guys into a higher class so we can grab some of that sweet brass!
Someone else mentioned this as well but LL is not for "mid level" guys.

The slower, mid-level people whining about Robbie might be best served by signing up for some coaching/training at the Reynard Training Complex (RTC) in Oklahoma. Some of the people Robbie has/does coach/mentor/train/practice with were mentioned earlier and include:

- Trey Canard
- Justin Bogle
- Colt Nichols
- Austin Forkner
- Benny Bloss
- Jimmy Albertson
- Chad Cook

Robbie is a humble, generous, soft spoken guy who is a true ambassador to our sport who still loves to race. He goes out of his way to help people. I ride at Robbie's most weekends. Watching Robbie ride is a thing of beauty. I get to ride with all those listed above on any given day at his place. The level of riders he turns out and has helped is quite impressive considering the relative size/population of Oklahoma.

I've often wondered if any other former pro turned trainer/coach has brought more current riders to the pro ranks than Robbie out of little old Oklahoma? His current crop of kids are developing skills that will move them up to the list above. Maybe he's onto something...

As stated earlier he just loves to race and help others improve. I'm hoping to ride at his place this weekend after breaking my tib/fib there 9 months ago. Last weekend was my first time back on the bike since my injury and I'm looking forward to it.

Hell, I'm 56 years old and he goes out of his way to help me improve every weekend and asks for nothing in return. Give the guy a break, he's doing ALL of us a favor. Well maybe not those he's racing against but he even decided to ride a freakin' ancient 125 to see what he could do. Mad skills.

Rick

P.S. And yes, his dad Robert is with him at Loretta's. Robert is a personal friend of mine and a hell of a guy who still rides fast and smooth. Robbie rides a lot like his dad. They are both so smooth it's amazing. Too bad Robert didn't qualify for Loretta's himself this year but he's been nursing an injury.

One of my favorite riders to watch, EVER. Would love to see him on a 125 again.

Hell, I even saw him race a Cannondale once. He was even able to make that turd look good.

This must piss alot of high dollar 4 stroke guys off.

Imagine if Stew ever goes back to LL's on a 259 Kawi 125. Shit, he should do that today.
