Because one is racing a class that isn't a "feeder" class and the other one is racing a feeder class that he had the rules changed so he could continue to cherry pick it...

Jeffrey is going for 500 MX2 wins.
He (J-Mart) raced last 3 nats in 12' coming off an injured shoulder and skipping Lorettas, where Zach Bell dominated. He turned pro at 18.5 yrs old. Nobody calls Z. Bell a sandbagger. Herlings turned pro at 15 and rules are rules (he's not sandbagging). OP, great topic, but this horse is beaten to death, chopped up and filling a glue bottle somewhere already.

you guys really should stop seeing things with double standards.

i just want to know why you think Herlings is
and why you think Martin is not

if i remember correctly both of them r about the same age both have 2 championships and both have a factory contract

for those who like a shitstorm of double standards
ready set go
Sandbagging is not about age.

Martin has competition in his class and Herlings has not for several years. Simple. Spin it as you like.

Wasn't it the case that back then in the US you could only turn pro once you're 18?

Right cos they've never changed the rules in the US to suit have they?

Does anybody know how many GP wins Everts had at Herlings' age?
8, 9, 10? Just guessing, gotta be something like that. I know that he had 5 in the 125 class before he moved up

Everts turned 21 in November '93. By then he raced 2 seasons in 250cc and won 9 GP's in his entire career.

Martin's first year was a half year also, outdoors only, and he also didn't turn pro at 16, he waited a year.

I understand Herlings not moving up this year after two years of injury... I think he could have before though, and yeah he's young, but here's the thing that most people would calling him a sandbagger because of...he's been young and a minute out front for a long time.

You definitely can question if he's improving where he is... Is he getting stronger cruising around out front? Is he learning? Do what you like but it's not hard to see why people think he's cherry picking, he's got no comp.
i'm just quoting your last alinea

Herlings never ever just cruises around he is always giving it 100% every time he throws a leg over his dirtsicle on his mountainbike or road bike or gym thats the thing with Jeffrey his always balls out the kid can't even give 99%

You really should see him on practice he's just insane he knows this might not last very long as he is demanding a lot from his body and said so himself in an interview recently

he's improving himself every minute of the day he eats, sleeps, dreams, ride's 100%

when i see him i'm in awe off how blazingly stupid fast he is when he's on there is just no way anyone could touch him on a bike not even the mxgp guys iff he's healthy enough and they would let him ride 4 moto's mx2 and mxgp he will win all moto's and i'm even willing to put money where my mouth is on that one he's just unbelievable

the people who have seen him ride in real life will probably say the same he's skill level is so much higher than anyone i have ever seen ride in real life

Matin has competition every once in a while. Herlings doesn't. Seriously though, no difference. Both should move up when they feel they're ready. Both are phoenominal and will most likely be 3 time 250 champs. Very impressive. I want to see these two race at Glen Helen so bad.

Romain Febvre and Tim Gajser have pretty much obliterated that assumption.

They have only validated that he is sandbagging and avoiding Cairoli by staying in th feeder class all these years. He should have moved up prior to his injuries.

Is it just me or are the 'gp wins record' he's trying to set discredited by the fact that he is padding the number with mx2 wins? Don't get me wrong, mx2 wins are an quite an accomplishment, but they are not on the same level as the amount of wins in the primer class by Everts and AC

Yeah I think when we talk about US records it's normally 450 wins only right?

You think a 17 year old should have jumped on a 450 and raced MXGP for the next fifteen years, simply to satisfy your expectations?

The idea he's deliberatley avoiding Cairoli is bullshit made up by thick idiots who don't like him.

OP you are a moron if you believe Martin and Herlings are anywhere near the same situation. Does Martin need to move up next year, yes. He needed another year of SX, where he did look really good at times. IMO (not that it counts for anything, after all I actually have common sense) Herlings should have moved up to MX1 in 2015. You get injured too bad, so sad, quit milking MX2. At least you had 2 titles and 43 wins after 2014, that is a lot for one class, especially not a "premiere" class.

Martin's results:

2012 MX - 22nd

2013 SX East - 11th
2013 MX - 6th

2014 SX East - 10th (1 win)
2014 MX - 1st (5 wins)

2015 SX East - 3rd (1 win)
2015 MX - 1st (5 wins)

2016 Sx East - 3rd (2 wins)
2016 MX - ?

Sx Wins - 4 (won first race at Las Vegas 2014)
MX Wins -10 (won first race at Hangtown 2014)

Herlings

2010 MX2 - 6th (2 wins)

2011 MX2- 2nd (5 wins)

2012 MX2 - 1st (9 wins)

2013 MX2 - 1st (15 wins)

2014 MX2 - 2nd (12 wins)

2015 MX2 - 7th (4 wins)

2016 MX2 - ? (7 wins and counting)

MX2 wins - 54 wins and counting (won first race in 2010)

After the 2013 season he had 31 wins in the MX2 class and was 19 years old.
After the. 2014 season, he had 43 wins in the MX2 class and was 20 years old. (Per the data above)

I don't have any expectations for Herlings, but I expect you to know that was born in 1994 and that put him at 17 in 2011. That was five years ago, brother.

Herlings is so much better them all others, and by not being american and not wanting to race in América, people here on this forum just have to hate on him as much as possible....if he would race in America, he would became american, like ken and Marvin, and he would be the best in the world, but by keeping in mxgp and not wanting to move to "the States" never mind how good he is, he cant be the best in the world since he is racing outside of the world, the world can only hate on him for it.....
He's gonna come over and kill Dungey and Roczen at mx and sx?

Ya ya, I know this is where you respond that sx is a circus and you're talking about "real motocross"...
