Are you going to explain to your children why and how you chew tabacco which is also known to cause cancer and has taken people from this world far to early?

When my kids saw daddy in constant pain and unable to be a active daddy I'm sure it didn't make them happy and now they have a daddy that is able to throw the ball with them, play with them at the park. So yes I'll tell them what marijuana has enabled me to do, and they won't care. They'll just be happy that we can do the things we do because of it. So you sir can kindly fuck off you closed minded uninformed douche bag Kissing
So you are not a "recreational user" you are a "medical user". Correct? I think more people who are anti-pot are supportive of it for medical reasons as opposed to recreational. There is a BIG difference. I can fully understand using it for medical purposes, because there are prescription drugs that are far more worse for the body than pot. If I was reading AJ's points correctly (Which I agree with BTW), he was strictly speaking of recreational users, but I don't want to put words in his mouth.

The reason I am personally against recreational use is because my best friend from HS died as a result of a drug overdose. His drug abuse started with pot (not alcohol - he never drank alcohol) and then went on to heroine, coke, and meth. When you see someone get started with drugs, then get addicted, then use one drug as a gateway to other drugs which eventually kills them, it changes your outlook on the subject.

When you control the variables in a study you get much more useful information. Some older studies on this subject state that those that drive while high have over a 200% higher risk of accident. In this newest and largest study to date those older "facts" are refuted and the reasoning is given as to why.

Not really refuted, they just show a lower risk of about 2 times the risk of accident if THC positive. There is nothing refuting the facts that judgement and motor skills are negatively affected. I would also suggest that racing an MX bike is an activity that requires faster reaction times and higher mental acuity than driving. So based upon your own data, I would say that there is a statistically significant increased risk involved. You may be willing to accept that risk for yourself, but you didn't ask the 20 other guys on the track if they are willing to accept the risk. You can deny and minimize it all you want, but nobody should be on a track with other riders when they are impaired, be it alcohol, pot, opioid pain pills or anything else. It's just not cool bro.

I love the other line of "logic" in this thread: Unless you are a pothead your opinion on pot doesn't count, because you have no first hand knowledge to speak from. Therefore, we will summarily dismiss all your anecdotal evidence from the potheads you know, but all of our anecdotes are solid because we are potheads.

By this logic, only murderers are qualified to sit on a jury in murder trial. Next time one of you potheads is in court on a pot charge, demand that all non-potheads get removed from the jury since they are not qualified on the matter and are obviously not a jury of your peers!

Or better yet, next time you get pulled over and hassled by the man for carrying your stash, tell him your merely conducting research to substantiate your expert opinion on vital!
I don't believe that is the context at all and it honestly comes off as a cheap way to make an argument. The last two paragraphs are purely grandstanding on your end and need not be addressed. As for the first paragraph look at it like this. Would you take riding lessons from someone who has never ridden a dirt bike? Critical analysis and breakdown of a race, rider technique, etc? I certainly wouldn't let it hold as much weight as a former pro. So how are you or anyone else who has never smoked and clearly has a negative bias going to tell other's how it will affect them? Everyone reacts differently and people keep bringing up potheads/stoners and people who waste away eating cheetos and watching tv. Those people are the outliers who clearly have some other mental issue beyond marijuana in their lives. If it wasn't that it could just as easily be cheeseburgers that does them in. Most people who partake in marijuana consumption due so responsibly and it isn't the main priority of their lives. Almost like normal people with a beer or two on the weekends eh. Using the same logic you applied to anyone who smokes is a pothead I guess the two beers on a Friday night guy should be labeled a raging alcoholic. Please use your brain before you post such ignorant, narrow minded drivel.

Um, no. Read the whole thing, not just the charts. They specifically state that once age and gender are taken into account, there is no statistical increase in accident frequency.

And just to be clear, I don't smoke weed, let alone smoke weed and ride. Just throwing out some information for those that might want it.

The value in my getting "high" is that I can live a life somewhat pain free. I will continue doing what I'm doing as I'm putting no one in harms way.

Pretty dumb assumption I know "stoners" who are successful and they did it all by themselves. Those lazy asses you are basing your assumptions on would be lazy asses without have ever smoking weed.

if weed is going to be illegal than alcohol should be illegal too and this is coming from a drinker not a smoker.

Haha. I think I see what you did there. It's just annoying when people use only the absolute extremes to prove a point. Back to topic I do not advocate the use of any mind altering chemical at the track that is not medically prescribed.

It's crazy to see this problem is spread across the motocross world. It happens alot here in the uk. It's strange when you're riding and just get a whiff, I'm pretty confident the marshals smoke it at one of my local tracks.

It's ridiculous, and does need to be stopped, but how. And the track owners probably don't want to upset people and loose money. Dangerous for sure, but I don't see the problem been solved anytime soon.

I was at the hawkstone international this year, and could smell it there. Why, I really don't see the need. This is why motocross will always be frowned upon when you have got pot heads Tear arseing around becomes a bit of a joke. How can you take family to events when you have these type of people there, it's laughable from the outside in.

I know lots of people who smoke cigs and consume nicotine and don't use illegal drugs. That said, I would prefer they were illegal too because I see nothing positive/good from them whatsoever. What positive comes from smoking anything? None of it is good for the lungs. What good comes from chewing tobacco? Nothing I can think of. I have no problem with alcohol within moderation, because one can consume alcohol without even getting a buzz or getting drunk. I like a glass of wine with dinner once or twice a month. I like the taste of it with the meal. I can drink 1 or 2 beers with a meal, I like the taste of it. But I don't drink to get drunk or get a buzz, or take the edge off, or relax. I like the taste of beer and margaritas. I don't drink them to get drunk, or get a buzz, or relax. I like them for the taste, there's a difference. I never do more than 1 or 2 drinks at a time. Recreational pot has 1 purpose - getting buzzed, high, relaxing, etc. Medical MJ has a clear purpose, which I am 100% supportive of because it is as safe or better than many pharm drugs that perform the same purpose.

You know some losers then because everyone I know smokes a lot and own their houses and drive brand new trucks. I'm not a guy in his moms basement. I grow my own chief, I haven't bought weed in like 8 years. And me and my crew growing up dominated the track, you wouldn't have to worry about riding around me cause I would have scrubbed under your fat ass and been ghost Cool

And we were fast. Now we're old. But weren't we all. Enough of this though I'm gonna take a dab and go out for some sushi. Enjoy sober life in Wisconsin bro, sounds like you're killing it. Hell yeah! I friggin love dabs, doing one right now actually hahaha

Since you're in Denver, if you ever see bottles of Medi-Gin, pick one up. My best friend started that company a few years ago and it's taken off like wildfire... It's a marijuana-infused ginger ale Cool

I'm also against smoking and riding, my point was that maybe if you get your point across without sounding so condescending people won't be as defensive. But by the looks of it you're just baiting to get into arguments(which is more like a trait of a 14 year old girl than a grown man with kids that age)

But either way have fun with your online arguments....

I'll put it this way...I have buddies that smoke when they ride and I trust them 100%. I know others ( including myself ) that shouldn't / couldn't smoke and ride. Not all people are the same. I know a few of my buddies ride not only safer , but faster after smoking a little.

Not everyone gets the " stupid stoned " feeling like what I get. Some people get the opposite affect , and it makes them focus 10 X better after they smoke it.

You can't go and paint everyone with the same brush here.

Think about James Stewart and the Adderall thing. He needs it to feel normal. Other people would freak out like they were on meth using it. Weed is no different and is a hell of lot safer than any over the counter drug.

I think most of the older generation are the ones having issues with it. As they still believe weed is some evil , lazy man type drug. It isn't.

At least you admitted that you are stereotyping a group, although that was fairly obvious by your statement. Next step is to learn not to write stereotypical comments in a public forum. BTW, you know some interesting people; ironic that you're "always" around those people whom you say disparaging remarks about.

Or 80s or 90s.

What people need to worry about is all the riders getting strung out on pain killers, if they don't care about that, they definitely wont care about pot.

Quite honestly Marijuana is the safest alternative for pain management there is. None of the side effects or dependency issues we've seen with opiates and other pain medicines. It's sad to see the inexperience people have with this subject and the views they've developed from that. The research that's being limited by federal law isn't helping either, but when scientific and medical research can be completed on a widespread basis I think what most already know will be clear: It's a safe and effective alternative for pain management as well as a legitimate aid for many medical conditions. The negative stigma associated with it and it's effects come from the uneducated, inexperienced and misinformed.

The most dangerous thing you can do is think behind the times. Hold values and views that are no longer applicable or realistic to current standards and understandings. Information is ever evolving, as should be our knowledge and opinions generated from it.

It's 2016.
Me personally, I'd disagree with this 100%. As a cancer patient that's been on both opiates and weed, I'd take opiates any day of the week over marijuana for my pain. Pot made me laugh uncontrollable at stupid shit and my wife thought i was nuts (she knew I was taking it through my pain magt doctor), and it made me have crazy thoughts, like crazy ass psycho abnormal thoughts that I'd never think of sober or on any other drug. I've taken just about every drug there is for pain, pot does absolutely zero to help control or manage the pain, I've tried all different varieties and types of pot, and it is by far the worst drug for me,.I literally can't handle it. One time I had to call the neighbor to come over and sit with me until my wife got home from work because I thought I was going crazy..opiates allow me to have a normal life where I can go out and ride my bike, ride my road bike, mtn bike, do all sorts of activities I couldn't do otherwise because the pain from chemo and cancer that damaged my body.

All that being said, I'm 100% for legalization of all drugs, as I've learned through my experience with cancer and the pain management afterword, there's different strokes for different folks, what works for one person doesn't for the next ad I'm no one to tell anyone what they can or can't put in their body. Drug legalization does work where it's been implemented, but we're way too uptight and stick up our asses in the states...
