With every other brand having a new machine out...Honda's coming next year...will we also see , finally, a new machine from Suzuki?

Well that is what we hear every year? "big things coming from Suzuki in 20xx!" is what i have read in several years now.

They are the only Japanese manufacture to win a SX so far this year, do they really need to bring out a new bike?

I would be happy if they bought out the same bike again but through the KYB spring fork on it Smile

One of the British, street oriented magazines said,

"Suzuki has 30 different models to be introduced over the next 18months."

You would have to assume a new rmz, or both, is included in that number, right?

Or, they have had to spend so much on street bikes, and the new euro 4 standard, that no money is available?

What constitutes a "new" bike? New frame, new engine, new suspension, all of the above?

Oh wait... I remember. NEW PLASTIC!!!!!!!!

New 85. New 450. New gixxer. Not sure about 250. From the way they're talking itll be radically different.

You're a fool if you're comparing a Factory race bike with oem bikes we can race. They have been searching for a clutch setup that works for weeks, probably months..... but you're right, they won this weekend. Their 8 year old bike must be great

Let's hope if it is new 450, all the changes work better than the 2016 rmz250.

Suzuki already makes a good bike, but last time I heard they were hurting for money. So I'm guessing minor updates.

New Suzuki is coming but not until 2018 I hear. Next year will be the same basic machine.

Is it true that the Honda won't be new until 2018 as well?

What's the reasoning behind this push for a new platform when the current one is highly developed and a proven race winner?

Weight is the biggest thing... Retooling to lose weight through the bodywork and frame design... along with a redo of the engine to shrink the package.

Uh... could be because its not considered as good as the other brands current versions?

As was stated above...You don't really correlate winning races at the factory level with the bike on the showroom do you?

There goes my excitement Sad They really need to cut the weight on their machine. Would be cool if they mounted up KYB SSS forks as others have said.

The weight is one of the factors that aids in the cornering of this machine, along with the geometry. I've been on an 06, 08, 12 and 14 RMZ-450 over the years while riding friends CRF'S and YZF's here and there and I'd say the weight really isn't an issue or detrimental to any certain aspect of the bikes performance or handling... Stock suspension, or RG3.

Would you guys attribute some of the ill handling effects of the last few generations of honda's to the weight location, or the reduction of weight overall? I like the geometry in terms of rider comfort and posture on my friends 14/15 CRF's but not the front end feel or flighty , skittish cornering when the weights on the front during corner entry and pivoting into accel. One of my least favorite feelings honestly because it's not a planted feel. In or out of ruts.

BNG for the win! At least we know we will only have to add a tooth in the rear.

I see what you did there.

I have a 2014 rmz450 and my only complaint while riding is the suspension. The TAC forks may be better than the SFF spring forks i have. Aside from that id like it to be a little lighter and maybe slightly better stability (i think id sacrifice a smidgen of cornering ability for a little better stability).

I bet if they simply put on an oversize front rotor, redesigned the exhaust for better power and weight, and really developed some great stock suspension settings they could move back up in the shootouts. I think they could at least drop 3 lbs off the bike by redesigning the muffler, shave some material out of the gas tank, and redesigning the front rotor (a la motostuff's blade rotor).

More balanced and progressive feel, but nothing like 12 and older with the proper valving and spring rates. Air is here to stay, just hope we can get the direct feel of spring only systems. I will never argue that an air setup isn't a better or faster design on track where it can clean up small chatter much better than a spring... but. It's purely a feel / feedback thing to me. Responsiveness isn't always a bad thing.

I could see weight savings as the biggest performance gain. But heck, these bikes are already super advanced.
