they were upset (and RIGHTLY SO) that Stewart was down, and for reasons that could have EASILY been avoided. It was a very terrible thing, historically, for the sport. We wanted Stewart back and those who didn't don't count. It's that simple. The booing made sense in this case because the crowd saw what happened.

I personally thought it was obvious why they were booing.

However I will agree that MX/SX does have one of the worst fan bases. But then again I'm not close to any other sport.

Where I was sitting, they were booing RD really bad. Cussing and flipping him off and standing up in front of us every time he came by. Drunk bastards!
What do those retards even think about when they do that? Or am i to forgiving in assuming they are able to think?

It was pathetic for sure. Watching it on TV I thought they boo'd it because of the red flag but who knows. Maybe they need to ban alcohol at sporting events. Brings out the worst in people. I am sure a lot of folks will not agree but I don't need it to have a good time at something like this.

Sucks what happened but it is what it is, looking forward to next weekends race.

I was there as well up in the nose bleeds and everyone in that area was booing dungey for causing the red flag not the red flag itself.

Don't even go there; I love my $12 cup of draft lite beer at these events.

Count me as a low lifer as I cursed, but of course I had the luxury of seeing it live and in HD. It was obvious to me (maybe not to field workers) that getting catapulted from all of 3 mph on the side of his head Stew was out....but he was in a very safe place and easy to turn the riders inside and protect JS and the workers.
I feel they put more riders at risk by pulling the restart, not to mention the reshuffle.

Exactly.

I will say, after that whole deal, some guys in my section were booing Dungey every time he came around.

Well if they were booing because they red flagged the race knowing Bubba wasn't moving that is sad.

Did any of you ever stop to think that, at the moment after the crash happened, then the red flag came out, that quite
a few in the stands, are casual fans, who thought James was faking to get a race restart and fully expected to see James
back on the line for the restart...

look at football... when the eagles were playing good and running the hurry up no huddle offense, a player on the defense would suddenly get a minor injury that would halt play, then the officials would call a injury time out, the player would leave the field for a couple of plays then be right back out there...

and seeing that it was a 5 mph crash why couldn't they think that?... how would the fans know?, if you cause a red flag you
can't race again in that race...

Exactly and that is why they have the Red Cross flag when a rider is down on the track. I guess we will see red flags every time a rider goes down now.

It sucks JS7 went down and got knocked out, it was great to see him back on the track. He was in upfront and dicing for the lead. Once he crashed the entire field went by that corner without any incident so it would have been good to let the yellow flags and red cross flag do their jobs a bit before pulling the nuclear red flag option out.

I've seen the crowd standards go downhill since freestyle and the tough guy crap that came with it.

People around us boo'd for the red flags coming out then kept yelling it was flagged only because it was him down n saying get up pu**y!! It pissed us off, we left right after that because how dumb people were being. Most of them don't even ride/race n talk crap on the racers, makes me sick.
These are exactly the type of fans Feld has been trying to attract. Remember, this is entertainment. BTW, I certainly wouldn't leave just because there are dumb people sitting around me. There are dumb people everywhere.

Pretty hard to argue with that when they replay the punching a thousand times (but also hand out an instant dq, fine and suspension)

It's sad really. I've attended quite a few supercross races and anytime James goes down it seems like more people are cheering then being concerned. That or it just sticks out to me and seems that say. These are also probably the same people who attend their one race a year and if you asked them who will win next weekend they'd say RV becuase they have no knowledge of the current sport.

That was my initial take on the booing as well - That the fans thought JS was over-reacting. Bad situation for everyone involved.

Have you guys ever watched a ufc fight?? If they aren't hitting each other for 10 seconds in a certain country half the crowd starts booing.

Y'all quit being pussies. People boo, people cheer, it's a show.

Don't complain, they're fans and they're needed to "grow the sport" and buy the sponsors products to keep them in the sport.

Wonderful.

I'd like to believe the booing was for the red flag. Although that in itself is problematic, as I don't believe the red flag is brought out just because it might be fun. Blink

So these apply.

I might sound dumb for this, but I've told my friends many times that I'm not much of a fan of attending the Anaheim race solely because of the attendees. Every year that I have gone something happens around me that pisses me off. San Diego has always been much tamer for me; Qualcomm and Petco.

It was really bad in my section...& Bubbas my favorite rider, I didn't want to sit there listening to all those drunk clowns saying shit like they were. I can handle the regular sx drunks but when a rider's hurt & it gets out of hand, choosing to leave and having to miss watching a race is worth not dealing with them imo. There are dumb people everywhere but I keep my surroundings as free of them as possible

I think they use the red flag to much now days...they have yellow flags, they have Red Cross flags...the red flag should only be used in extreme circumstances.

I don't want to have to be the guy who makes the call on if the circumstances are extreme enough for a red flag or not, so I won't second guess any decisions they make...other than to say I think it's used to much...if they can't get to an unconscious rider or something, sure, red flag...

Restarting races should an extreme extreme exception.

with that said if the decision is ever made to bring out the red flag, anyone that boos is a moron.

When Stew lit up the whoops like a top fuel dragster the crowd went nuts. They LOVED it. At that moment he gained many fans. When Dunge got together with him everyone booed Dungey. That simple.
