Just a sneak peak.
I'll get some better photos up soon when its finished up.

A modernized replica of the 1985 works, Bel Ray ,championship bike,
available in 500, 250 or 125cc.

The upper fork gators are just for photo fun only, obviously they'd interfere in operation.

I bet you could clamp the fork boots to the fork sliders somehow so they would articulate.

I don't get it???? There are 125/250 2 strokes being sold which are engineered and developed, why pay extra $$ to wedge an modified engine into a modified frame just to stay the same color?

I'm not sure who is capable of racing a 500 2T other than a hillclimb or desert pro?

I don't get it, why hate?
The only modern 2 strokes are KTM, not everyone likes the orange bikes. Different strokes for different folks

By that logic, who's capable of riding a 450?

Have you ever owned a 500 two stroke? Now imagine taking a 500 two stroke and putting it into a modern chassis of your choice, then tuning it to your own needs and style. There is so much you can do to a 500 2 stroke, flywheel weights, ignitions, reeds/intake, exhaust and not to mention port timing. Then you have something that is very unique and just plain fun. Period. No other reason needed. Anyone can crack open a wallet and buy a new 450, which itself is pretty bitchin. But I have way less than half of a new 450 into my RM500AF. And yes, I have the satisfaction of building it all myself. That is some of the reasons that the AF market exists. Just pure fun, and cheap rebuilds, & ride all season on the same top end. Not so much rear tires though.Wink

These threads are gold... I wonder if any of the people saying they are not rideable have ever been on one. Minus the vibrations a Kx500 has to be the best motor ever built! My kx5 was a torque monster, had a very smooth powerband and it was bulletproof. Really a dang easy bike to ride. The only issue holding me back from another 500 is the blurry vision. It's scary to imagine how good a updated 2016kx500 could be.

Well in the worse case scenario, that you envision, where the bike only makes sense for a hill climb or desert pro, why wouldn't I still make it for them?
Wink

There are more of those specific riders than you might think world wide.

Obviously a lot more riders than that group purchase our 500AF bikes, and absolutely love them!
I've been building 500cc AF's for 18 years. Longer than Honda made a 500. And quite a few every year.So while it's not a huge market, it's been a blast to address it and offer a choice.

You'll see tests of the Service Honda 500AF
In upcoming MXA and TWMX issues soon.
They have gotten a lot of press and good reviews over the years.
Choice is a good thing.Smile

Psst, AJ, is your email on Service Honda's website current? I sent you and email last week about possibly turning my current bike into a 500? Been dreaming big lately...

I was under the impression that most of us were the type of people that wouldn't even wonder why something like the AF conversions are cool. Why ,you ask? Hell, because you can and it would be fun ,to build and ride . Seems like enough reason right there ,then add to it that some guys are making money at it to boot .

I'm capable of racing a 500cc two stroke.. hanging on and getting a good result might be a little harder. Jus stick that bad boy in 3rd and never shift lol...just like a 450.

As for Wardy, Service Honda may be primarily Honda.
Dogger wasn't widely known for his Honda years.

What I don't get are comments????
Like "I'm not sure who is capable of racing a 500 2T", I'm old so I got to watch Bailey ride the real thing, which handled like crap compared to this masterpiece and he COMPLETELY HAULED ASS. Same with Ward on his KX and Glover on his YZ490 (which is amazing based on that YZ was a piece of junk to those factory CRs and KXs!) I wouldn't be surprised if someone smooth like Dungey couldn't actually turn faster laps on a Service Honda than a stocker 450!
Same people that say Service Hondas are too fast are probably the same ones that say CRF450R and too slow in the next sentence?????
