I just watched the video. I don't know Sean but to me he came across as being bitter. I left with the impression that he was trying to convince himself that everything was ok but may really not be. I also dont think he said anything that was overly controversial. Motocross is no different than any other sport. They all are loaded with good and bad but like our society all you really hear about is the bad. As far as the industry's dirty little secrects, that is no different either. You want to see injustice, look into MLB and how it treats its minor league players. There is actually a class action lawsuit against MLB by some minor leaguer players going on now. until the riders act collectively with the best interest for all, nothing will change. As Sean said, there is always another kid waiting in the wings to take your ride.

The irony of dropping him is kind of interesting. In a way, couldn't you take that as validation for what he was talking about? Or it could just be business, who knows. As they say, there's always 3 sides to every story.
Validation to me... But also not surprising...

The sport is really brutal in a lot of ways... I'd not be surprised anyone has had their feelings smashed after semi-not making it.

DC- this is beyond you. You may or may not have kicked a few of us out of a late night box van dance party at mount morris national in 1999, but i say, keep doin what you do. You saved the Nationals! Great Year!

I didn't see anything in that trailer that would cause sponsors to back out. Are people really surprised by what he is saying? Standard shit in all sports

WOW. Someone just pointed me to Proride.com and there's a post entitled "Sean Collier Fans" by Kyle "Elmo" Cowling and it starts with this:

"Since Davey Coombs has already threatened half the industry not to post anything from our last episode unless they like lifetime bans, we figured we'd push the boundaries even more with episode five. In the full thing, Collier calls out the entire amateur & professional scene, his dad, Carmichael, and more. HA...."

EDIT: Someone reminded me that I did know who Kyle Cowling is, that he used to work at Transworld and we used to call him Elmo. EDIT: And then someone else pointed out that his post was from back in August.

I think I now feel worse for Sean Collier.

Kyle Cowling is the guy that started a Kickstarter fund to make a movie about Josh Grant and all the drama with his mom!

It has been two years and the trailer is still not out. I think the guy is full of crap. I backed it and think I got scammed.

He drummed up initial interest in much the same way.
I read this threas briefly when it was young and that's the same thing I been thinking since then. Does he still plan on doing a Josh Grant documentary?

Any press is good press, especially when your project may need a push. The rumors/facts fly and it makes people want to buy the video to possibly hear some deep dark insider secret they've yet to hear.

These stories shouldn't be popularized, but also shouldn't be black listed. ESPN has been covering much worse for years

I found out about this about a week ago before the crap hit the fan so to speak. So I've really kept up on the real things that are known. First off I've been riding with Sean since he was on a KX65. I have much respect and admiration for the man he is and the place that he is at. I didn't say a word about the blacklisting until Sean posted on IG that his sponsor list had shorten due to the video. Immediately one of the wife's from the sponsors chimed in about how it's a shame that he is on social media talking about this. She commented that the real reason why our name is no longer on your bike is because you disrespected your sponsor list by not letting them know about your plans for the video. The funny part is she called it "nonsense" just like stated from someone else. Later she pulled the comment and the rumors of him just quitting seamed to start up. I called her out on pulling the comment off IG and she responded immediately about there was not reason she took it down other then not wanting to be involved in the "nonsense". Sean never called anyone out but we all know the next time we see him riding with out gear we will know. There really isn't a difference. He did it in a respectful way in my opinion.

I have known Kyle for quite some time and he is a stand up honest film producer. He doesn't have to answer to anyone and that is why we get good raw content. Honest content.

Take this on how ever you want to but the bottom line is: Why would he quit? The only reason is damage control. If you make someone quit then there is no backlash. But fire your Blue collar guy that has put you on the map because he spoke his mind and opinion with out telling you ahead of time is crap.

If you actually watch the video Sean speaks on this exact topic. It really drives it home and his message about our industry.

Others will follow and speak up. We don't need to hear what the sponsors want the riders to say. We want the truth.

So, did any of Sean's sponsors actually drop him? Is Sean blacklisting himself? I'm confused. Lol

BTW I thought Sean's piece was great and thought he spoke the truth. The truth hurts and we know how easy some folks egos bruise in this sport. It's a shame if the truth did indeed set him free from some sponsors.

Does anyone know who were the sponsors that did officially (not hearsay) release him? Also was he told it was a direct result of his participation in the Spectrum Series?

It will be interesting to see what he has to say about those involved.

The guy behind the video series claims DC is threatening folks with lifetime bans over the videos. If you haven't already, grab some popcorn and a tinfoil hat and check out the proride thread. They have a very loose grasp on the concept of free speech over there.
Seems like a loose grasp of reality also.

Since that other post didn't exactly clearly state like it did on proride..

Via flipside: "The greatest part is no body knew who dropped him because he still didn't bash anyone. But it was Fasthouse's money guy. Gasper racing. Debbie Gasper. Xxxxx is her account."

I removed the account name from the quote.

If nothing else, this thread should at least be a reminder of just how small this sport is.

The deleted comment on instagram was by Debbie Gasper. If she actually posted that on IG, (the comment has since been deleted) I think it would be pretty easy to deduce what happened to SC207's sponsors.

I have no idea what is really going on behind behind the scenes but just being in business for as long as I have, here is my prediction on how it will end. DC will walk away unscathed and unfazed, SC will lose a sponsor or 2 and a handful of fans but pick a couple of both up to replace them and Kyle will get the shit end of the stick. That is in no way representative of who I think is telling the whole truth, it's just how I know things like this to play out. Hierarchy is king and the hierarchy usually determines the winner regardless of the truth. Sad but true.

That is of course unless Kyle has all of the emails and text messages from DC and the other sponsors. Then the shit could potentially hit the fan.
