I doubt I could do any better job of PR than he does; but I don't know what it is like to be in the spotlight. I'd probably just tell Ya'll to get fucked. Laughing

I agree. I hope he walks off into the Sunset waving his middle finger at all of us! Nothing he does now. Can change the day he ruled the world at MXDN on the little bike.

Just because I'm not a fan of his personality, I'm a huge fan of his skills on a bike. No, he really & truly doesn't owe anybody anything at all. Hope he heals quickly, and lives a great life doing whatever makes him happy.

That is such BS, we are owed that, we the fans pay for his entire existence, if we did not show up, buy products, etc, RV would be poor like the rest of use

I agree he owes us nothing about his personal life but his present and future racing plans he does owe us, tickets will or will not be bought depending on it. People will make plans depending on it so HE DOES owe us information about his "racing" life.

Wow, lots of irony and hypocrisy in this thread.

One rider is too whiny and Kardashian , one doesn't update the fans and has a boring personality, one can't read a rule book and made a TV show, one is too boring and wins championships because others are out, etc...

How bout we don't be so critical of the guys who race dirt bikes for a living.

Look RV would be happier than a pig in slop if his wife would just go ahead and feed him some real food! Look how happy roczen is now!

He needs a toasted BLT with pate', strawberry jelly, marshmallow fluff, lard, butter, waffle fries, fried sugar cubes and pork knuckle!

Instant happiness and communicator!

I hurt mine when I was in my late teens and that mother fucker has never not hurt to some degree and I'm 44 now. It's not always super bad but some days it's still excruciating. Every time I ride a motorcycle my tailbone hurts bad.

Pretty much this. He is out until he is not. Some riders are more open, some aren't. Some care to keep us informed and some don't. He is one of the all time badasses on a dirt bike and that is the bottom line.

This new generation thinks they are owed something for nothing. Unless you are paying RV he owes you nothing. He will be back when he is ready to race.

Yes,SX/MX has made RV and others a good retirement for their futures. IMO most people think it is an easy life to be at the top. All of those that make it to the top Pro level, dedicate so much time and effort, we can't even begin to understand. Just because some enjoy their private lives more than others doesn't give anyone the right to criticize. RV did more than most ever will on a race bike. I do hope to see him race again but if not he is still one of the fastest guys on an MX track, no matter if he tells us or not how he is healing.

I bought a new Dodge a few years back. Should the production workers who build those things have to keep me updated constantly on their injuries, plans, etc? Buyers like me pay for those folks' very existence........

But it is the fans who are paying him , be it indirectly .

They are the ones paying through the turnstile to watch him race , they buy the merchandise , they buy the replica gear , they buy the bike he rides etc etc ,

Were exactly do you think the money he gets from his sponsorship deals comes from ?

The rub here , is that the people he works for , ie KRT , don't know , or didn't know what was going on either.. So while they know he is injured , same as we do, there hasn't been an official update statement by the team or rider since around two weeks after it happened.

As a result , as I understood from conversations that I had in Italy, the team were organizing an independent medical exam , so that they could make decisions as to where to go next. That info came from people that are in a position to know, I had the feeling that there was more info known, but nobody wanted to be 'the person' to come out and say it .

I think he is done, and the quest to recover monies is underway. Don't expect to see him any time soon.. I would like to be wrong, but as time passes, I think it is looking that way.

What the fuck is RV supposed to say? " Well gee guys , I'm just hanging out at a local track today watching my little brother ride and yes my tail bone is still broken "

Did you guys need a full report on what he ate last night and how many times he wiped his ass this morning after taking a healthy shit?

The guy broke his tail bone in 3 spots. He's waiting for it to heal. What the fuck else do you " need " to know?

Geezuzz!

Let me start by saying that I used to be a big fan of RV. When i saw him ride at the mxdn back in 2006 i was completely sold. What he did back at the mxdn in 2007 was incredible. I did not really care about his attitude towards it all. For him motocross is a job, so i can understand he is not really that crazy about it. I really liked his skill on the bike.

Needless to say i was very happy when he lined up at the first GP. I did not expect him to completely destroy the opposition, but i really gave him a chance at the tittle. In my book he is one of the best riders ever. But i'm really bummed at how it all turned out. Not only bummed about his crash in Italy and his injury, i'm really disappointed in his attitude after his crash. Is it really that hard to let the fans know what the plans are ? Is it really that hard to keep his team up to date on what is going to happen next ?

Do you guys know what the rumours are on the track ? Well.. people say the RV isn't injured. That his injury is just an excuse not to ride anymore. That it was all decided beforehand. That, if he would see that he was not strong enough to become world champion, he would fake an injury just to get out of it.

Can you blame the guys who started these rumours ? Well... i'm afraid not. All RV has to do is keep us updated but in refusing to do so he is actually feeding the rumours. How difficult is it to post a tweet on how you are doing ? How difficult is it top update the facebook page with news if you started riding again ? How difficult is it to post some news on your own website with what the plans are next ?

There are several reasons why those rumours start. Here are a few...

1. The crash in Italy looked really painfull, and i'm sure he hurt himself. But is he really not able to ride ?
Only 1 week after his crash RV was seen in Valkenswaard riding around on his pitbike. So only 1 week after his crash he could allready sit down. We are now allready 9 weeks after his crash. Is it really still impossible to ride a dirtbike ? Have you seen in what state other riders are ? They are riding... so why can't RV ?

2. RV went to a doctor in Belgium who, on april 23rd, confimed that RV had broken his tailbone in 4 places. Now, I know that doctor well. He's an expert on motorcross riders. I think almost every GP rider goes to that doctor. Not only GP riders, Dean Wilson made the trip from the states to Belgium to visit that same doctor back in April.
So far so good. But then RV goes for another opinion back in the USA and over there the doctor says that he has not only broken his tailbone but that he also compressed his L4 vertebrae in that crash. Well... i don't believe for 1 minute that the doctor in Belgium did not see that. Is it true ? Or is it an excuses not to show up at the startline ?

3. Look at that picture taken last weekend. Does he look hurt to you ? I'm not saying he is 100% but i'm sure that if Cairoli can ride with a busted elbow and 2 broken bones in his hand, RV can ride as well.

I understand the statement that RV owes us nothing. Is that really so ? If there were no fans there would be no professional mx riders. RV has made a lot of money. He's only 26 and he has made enough to sit on his ass for the rest of his life. We have not payed him, but if it weren't for us he would not be the milionair he is today.
And maybe he owes us nothing. But doesn't he owe the team ? Shouldn't he be telling them what the plans are ? It can't be that difficult, can it ?

I really think RV underestimated the challenge of the GP circus. Hell, even i thought he was going for the title. And yes, he maybe won a GP but he did not dominate at all. Worse, after only 7 moto's he was allready 1 moto behind in the point standings. I bet he didn't expect that. I know i didn't. So now people start saying that his injury is a cover not to ride again. Maybe if RV would keep the fans updated rumours like that would not start.

I really hope to see RV back in the GP circus. I really was looking forward to see him tackle Lommel. But if he only comes back for the final GP in Glen Helen he might as well stay away all together. I really am not waiting for him to show how fast he is on home turf. I know he is fast there. I wanted to see how he would preform elsewhere.

Rv lost a fan in me. I know he doesn't care, i know he will not loose a minute sleep over it. But i really think he could be a little more friendly towards his fans.

He's probably in secret training to come back and go 1-1 at Glen Helen, both redeeming himself and leaving everyone to argue and speculate over 'what might have been' for the next twenty years.

I have got a really stupid tailbone story: About 2 years ago i had to stay home from work because of a neck injury..... i was really bored, so i rode my mountain bike around the house. I did a bunny hop down a step which was about 1 ft. tall. My feet came off the pegs and i landed with my tailbone on the saddle. It was extremely painful, but i couldnt go and see a doctor because actually, I should have been in bed the whole time Laughing

It hurt for about 1 year, and i think it wasnt even broken, just badly bruised.

He basically said, he is more worried about the compressed disks in RV's back, than the tailbone.

That's Aldon being as vague as he can , saying loads but not really anything. How hard is it , once you are cleared to ride , you get on a plane and go back , its not like its difficult. If they really were 'all in conversation', I would have expected that KRT would have said so ,and released something .
